A ranty topic about my Ist

So, much to my utter and complete shock I found an Ist rune the other day. First one ever, and probably the most valuable item I'm found in this game. :drool:

Now that the joy of finding it is beginning to wear down though, I find myself just kinda staring at it wondering 'what now...?'
So, though I'm aware it's really a matter of opinion, I'm looking on advice for what to do with it.

My first instinct was to trade it, though I'm not sure how much it's worth on non-ladder, and I'm a pretty bad trader to begin with.

I could socket it into my mf-sorc's occy, but that seems like such a big sacrifice for a little more mf.

I have the runes to make delirium, which looks like a pretty cool helm, but what practical use is it? What kind of char could make the best use of it, anyone have any insight? Also, if I do go this route, any advice on what kind of helm to stick it in?

I suppose I also could save it for one of the really nice runewords, call to arms leaps to mind. But it's taken me this long to find an ist, I can't imagine how long I'd be waiting for a higher rune like the Ohm needed for a CTA.


So, yeah. Any advice is very welcome!

i'm saving my ist and high runes to trade for an anni here on the forums... since i highly doubt i'll ever fight dclone this season, unless I get lucky.

i was thinking on putting it into my tal orb, with the rest of the set, and putting a p topaz in tal helm. Or imma put an ist in an alibaba, and put in a second if I get lucky enough to find one -_-

Save it. That's usually what I do when I find something cool. You'll know what to do with it sooner or later

my hammerdins merc wears delirium.

about the only time that its annoying is when im cowing. when cowing, i prefer the cows to just keep comming (down into the buzzsaw), but 99% of the time they get cursed with confuse from my merc, and stop making their way towards me.

other than that, having delirium on the merc is generally useful.

Just my opinnion on this... But 2 ist, even 1 in a alibaba seems to be a waste....? Alibaba seems to already get to enough mf alone(never really checked what it can get to)...

25% MF is not worth an Ist, unless you have so many of them that you don't mind anymore (which is possible if you do a lot of Hellforges, for example).

Consider what you can get if you trade it:
Tal armor + Tal amu = Ist
7-8 x 7% MF small charms (49-56 MF) = Ist (25 MF)
Low anni = Ist + @
Mara's or SoJ = Ist
3 Um (+ Pul?) = Ist
Shako + upped Skullder's Ire + upped Lidless Wall (+ War Travelers?) = Ist

So, like TurbulentTurtle said, save it, and sooner or later, you will find good use for it. Use it for Delirium only if you have been wanting this runeword for a long time, otherwise you will certainly be disappointed. You could also try to buy a very low CtA with your Ist, but be careful as many runes are duped, and you could loose your runeword if you're unlucky. In my opinion, you will be much more rewarded and safe if you try a trade like those I mentioned above.

Atomium, Sojs are only worth like pul runes now....
Anyways, get a mal and trade for the high rune!

That would be 30% mf in weapons and 25% mf in armors.

For you WindFury, I think Atomium's suggestion is best. I'm like you and a single Ist is likely the most wealth I'll ever acquire. Might as well make the most of it and exchange it for multiple great items. I especially like Um runes since it's the highest rune in several awesome runewords (Duress, Stone, Crescent Moon, etc)
