A couple more SPF to English questions

Untwinked
HoW
MFO’s
MF’ing

If anyone could decipher these I would appreciate it. Thanks, Nationwide!

Untwinked means building a character using only the items you find. In other words not muling on, only off!

HoW: Heart of Wolverine. A druid summoning spell

MFO: dunno

MF'ing is Magifc Finding. Running specific maps with as much "% chance to find magic items" -gear as possible, to get the best drops possible.

Untwinked = character only plays with what he/she finds/shops/gambles/cubes/crafts. No muling of items onto the character from outside sources.

HoW = Heart of Wolverine, one of the Druid spirits. HoW adds to attack rating and damage of the party.

MFing: Magic Finding: most people mean to repeatedly play certain parts of the game (act bosses, superuniques, areas with lots of chests, high-level areas, etc.) while wearing lots of equipment with '+% Chance to Find Magic Item', trying to score useful or hard-to-find items. For me, it just means to wear as much MF equipment as I can find (or dare, in Hardcore!) during my normal questing, as I don´t repeat areas.

MFO = Magic Find Olympics. SPF competitions where the goal is to find cool items. I don´t know more about them, as they don´t interest me...

Just adding a little more about the Magic Find Olympics (MFO's). It a competition that lasts a set amount of time. People sign up to run certain areas of the game, like Hell Baal, or Mephisto. Once the set amount of time has passed, people show thier best items. The player with the rarest find wins the competition for their area. The winner gets to pick a few items from the losers, then second and third place people get to pick fewer items.

For an MFO, do only set and uniques count? What if someone were to find a high end rune. Or a perfect cruel weapon of evisceration? Or well just anything uber rare?

A little more about MFOs.

Normally the req for it is that you leave the elite uniques/sets unidentified. Each item has a score assigned to it based on rarity of drops. At the end, you submit the 3-10 (# is decided before MFO starts) best items and the total score determines your ranking. So it doesn't matter if you find the most uniques, just the best few.

High runes, ubers rares are just for bragging rights

Thanks for the SPF Language lesson #2!

I appreciate it. Soon I will be reading posts and actualy understand what is being said! Thanks again everyone. Nationwide

As usual, others have answered nationwide's questions before me. But it has got me to thinking whether we ought to have an "SPF dictionary". Perhaps as a sticky, or added to one of the other stickies?

What are others ideas on this?

Wonderful idea

Yes, I think a sticky "SPF Dictionary" modified and added to as needed would be great. I still can't remember all the abbreviations to use them, or even just to recognize them sometimes.

I thought rather than start another thread I would ask it here. Now there is one thing that I don't know.

What does GG stand for?

What does GG stand for?

1) GoGo! (often used with humor to cheer on a wussy skill/build/item)
Example: "My necro owns! GG Teeth!!"

2) Good Going (encouraging comment)

3) GooberGrape, a forumite (he runs the Weaponless tournament)

GG can also mean Good Game, but thats more multiplayer, like Warcraft (where I find the Warcraft communities tend to use it for just about everything, when someone loses something).

Commonly found tagged on with 'LOL' and 'NOOB' eg. LOL GG NOOB.

Thats funny, I've always thought of GG as Good Game or GooperGrape but the phrase GG NOOB looks a little strange

Wouldn't a dictionary be huge? since you cover nearly every skill in D2(eg. CoS) + items (eg. WWS) + mods(eg. pdr). Still its a worthy effort
