The Lo and Ber dropped in the first 2 hours. Two Guls came at about the 5 hour mark, and the Vex was a buzzer beater not long before midnight. Too bad there wasn't enough time to finish this set.

Doubled my score from last year, and didn't end up in last place like in round 1 so very happy. Have enough runes now to make Infinity for my Lightning Sorceress who has been stuck in Act 1 hell.

I ran with sorceress, mostly p3, but also tried p5 setting. My goal at 10 hours mark was to complete more than 4500 fullclear runs. Number of runs done I checked with xp method since I didn't use runcounter. I also did one set, but highly focused set to get it done.

p3 fullclear runs done: 3949 (10% nodrop chance)
p5 fullclear runs done: 630 (2.7% nodrop chance) same as 681 p3 runs
Translating it to p3 fullclear runs, I get 4630 done.

As for real amount of runs done, I can only guess. Assuming I skip one minion every 15 runs, I get total number of runs done to be 4658. Assuming skipping one in 12 runs, I get 4665 runs. For some medium value we can take 4660, give or take 10.

Average number of qualifiers for this amount of runs would fall to 24.5, I found 33 which puts me 8.5 above average. As for the quality, I think it was average if we look at the score and amount of runs done, or way below average if we look it from perspective of quantity of qualifiers. Ber rune dropped among last runes. If it didn't, I would end up barely in top 10. I believe this tells enough how unimportant killing speed really is. Sorc of 15s runtime has similar winning odds as sorc doing it in 20 pretty much because runes either drop, or they don't

I can't do 15s on p3, but doing 16s on p5 is not that hard. So, I guess my goal for the next time might be to come closer to 4800 p3 fullclear runs done? We shall see. Either that or I will use full 420 MF sorc since with the same sorc I easily manage 16s p3 running which is more than solid enough.

Congrats @art_vandelay for taking the round, and everyone else who found some good stuff. I was surprised to make top 10 having only run about half a set and mediocre drops, but I guess that one Jah (my first drop also) helped a bit.

My modest haul pic from 12 hours of running:



I started way too late, didn't really feel like playing D2 the last couple of weeks. So in order to speed up runs ever so slightly, I ran with a fully offensive setup with Fathom, Nightwing's and Blizzard Ormus, faceted in each case. As mentioned in the running thread, this only resulted in a tiny improvement. Her standard setup with Shako, WT, 2/20 amulet etc. delivered ~16.4s runs last year, along with ~190 MF and just below 9k Blizzard. Now this NWV/Ormus setup had no MF, 12k Blizzard, and resulted in ~16.2s runs. Totally not worth it for general purposes, yet I stuck with it anyway... after all, seeing fewer rares and S&Us means I wasn't going to get distracted by picking them up.

Congrats everyone, particularly art! That's a crazy set, and I always hear him complaining about not finding jahs . I did one 20 hour set, and here is my haulpic.

Just like round 1 for me, I was below my expectation on both quantity and quality of qualifiers, but unlike round 1, I was pleased with my efficiency. Averaged 21.9s runs for the set and got in 3291 runs. I also thought my haul pic looked nice . Was pretty disappointed there were no ber+ drops, but trav is quite profitable nonetheless and I'll happily put those runes to good use. Also already had some nice results crafting, a lot due to materials found in this round, with that 2/20 zon and that 2/19 sorc 20@ amulets I posted in the IFT.

Also my in-between rounds scores have been excellent . Between rounds 1 and 2, I found Ber, Ber, Lo, Ohm in p7 CS, then a cham in p1 AT. So far since round 2, I've found ber, ohm, ohm, gul... all from p1 pits . Guess that's a risk when you're playing a lot but are too lazy to do multiple sets.

Did all the running with my lvl 99 blizz sorc using hoto. I tried out a 3 piece tals setup on her (303mf), which is what I would recommend for general running (was avg'ing just under 24s with that setup), but I stuck with a higher dmg setup (with 153mf) to keep those runtimes under 22s.

I did get the two missing facets I needed for grail, which was nice, but no wisp or bk. I thought about starting a second set at a more relaxed pace while using 3 piece tals setup, but only got like 40 min in before deciding I'd had enough of trav. Despite loving blizz sorc in general, trav is not one of my favorite runs. Though the sheer profitability makes me more than happy to run it for the tourney.

I can't wait for round 3. I've never run arcane before and am definitely planning to this year. Soon will need to do some testing on whether I think my griffonsless java or light sorc will be better for the round. See you all there!

Congrats to @art_vandelay on the nice haul, @Pb_pal for the well-earned second place, and everyone who got shiny rocks!

Like last year, I ran with my untwinked 99er Barb, Death, who has an extra limitation of no extended stash. But this year, he had Enigma for the whole set and better gear in general. Of course, his score and total qualifiers was dwarfed by last year's result. That's RNG for you!

Only 7 qualifiers, but quality was out of this world with five 10+ pointers, and two of those top three scoring drops Over his two RFL rounds, he's netted 2 Chams and 4 Jahs, so quite the streak. The real highlight was the non-qualifier haul, which included quite a few charm upgrades and most importantly the Highlord's to complete his gear.

As expected with only 7 qualifiers, he had some extended dry spells, in fact two 5+ hour stretches without a qualifier, and another nearly 4-hour stretch. Things started off nicely with a Jah at the 1:50 mark, and Gul fell within the next hour, with Ohm #1 less than 30 minutes later. Three qualifiers in three hours, I thought, could be a good sign.

Then 5 hours and 20 minutes until Ohm #2 fell. Then the Cham dropped at the 9:20 mark to round out a top 5, with 4 of them 10+ pointers. The Highlord's actually dropped a few runs before the Cham, so that was a nice little stretch.

He picked up only two more qualifiers over the last 10:40, with Ohm #3 just past the 13 hour mark rounding out the top 5, and a Mal right at 14:30, so he finished up with a ~5:30 dry spell. (Which was promptly broken within 5 minutes after he finished the set and gathered cubing ingredients and lower runes, by another Gul and Mal. At least they wouldn't have helped the score!)

As for gear, details are in his Meet the Rune Finder's post (here). Short summary is Death's was better than last year, merc's was worse, but average runtime was significantly faster this year as a result. The cubing materials and rune gathering allowed him to cube a second Sur to make the Ber for Beast as a reward (and for use once he reaches lvl 98):

He also got 3os Mage Plate allowing Treachery, so he's set for ~1100 Baal runs to reach lvl 98

Thanks to everyone who participated and kept the running thread active with updates and theory crafting. It's fun to see people having fun with the tourney, whether that's improving run times, experienced runners still discovering new refinements, or relaxed play and nice loot. I went 17 hours with only 3 qualifiers... Wasn't even sure if in 20 hours I would grab 5 runes... fortunately vex and sur dropped in the final hours.

Even at around 30ish seconds for my 2H zealer and completing north of 2k runs I was beginning to miss the moo moo farm.

Oh, at least fortune shined on my facet collection, 7 found, 5 poison lol

Bit of a disappointing round for me, my lowest round 2 score by about 17 points.
It started OK with a very early Ist and the Lo dropped around the 10h mark. But unfortunately, except for a Pul around 19h, that was it.

3687 runs over 20 hours yielded 11 total qualifiers, so definitely the short end of the RNG stick here. That Cham came through with only 1.5 hours remaining and boosted my score enough to salvage a few points..

I picked up many rares but none I would consider good. I did find a pair of nice Raven Frosts (249/19 and 246/20).

Nothing nearly like most others, but I'll certainly take it. If nothing else, that Ber puts me just waiting for a Zod, and I'll have every rune-drop... fingers crossed for round3...

Being far more casual with my play than most other players that entered, I feel like this is quite possibly best results I have had to date within a contiguous 20hour span of play. Granted, I've been playing this game for years now, and maybe just finally getting that Ber drop after cubing up so many Surs to get the runes for 'Enigma' and 'Infinity' is what makes it seem so... either way, I am still quite pleased. No clue on number of runs or average time... runcounter always has felt clumsy to me, and comparing the results it gives to the resident efficiency-bots leads to frustration for me, so ye olde stopwatch is how we keep time. I could almost certainly improve just by not picking rares, but I can never shake the feeling that one tiara I left on the ground would have been the +2/20fcr/30frw/@ res/2os...
