Storyline
This second set started really quickly, Vex dropped after 23 minutes, followed by Pul and Mal under the hour mark.
The Cham drop went slightly more than two hours later, and nothing went before the 6th hour's mark, when a Sur popped.
Jah was dropped almost three hours later, before a hole in the drop line of close to six hours, when a Pul arrived on the 14.5 hour mark.
The Ber has been dropped right after the 16 hours mark, and Ohm and Ist were dropped at lvl 96, during the second half of the 19th hour.

S/Us have been or will be revealed if i forgot some in the usual IFT topic, won't mess with it here, but i'm pretty happy overall ;)

Regarding the first set, it has been a Lo Ohm surrounded by a pack of Mal Um and 3 Puls - i'll have to make the necessary cuts in longer vids so i postpone it for now :)

First Cham dropped after two hours, second Cham another 2 hours later. At that point I considered myself extremely lucky already and it was at that point where I debated switching to CS for a chance at a Zod. I decided to keep running for a bit to get a solid top 5 of qualifiers. A few hours after, a Sur dropped. At about the 10 hour mark, the 3rd Cham dropped, followed by another Sur just 10 minutes or so later. That would have been a good point to make the switch to CS, but I felt like I couldn't kill nearly enough monsters in the same time there than I did in AS. And I have to admit that I was kinda curious how much I could get out of AS in a full batch if half a batch already gave me 3 Cham runes. Well, it was a Travincal flashback, so to say. In those last 10 hours, I only got a Lo rune, which slightly improved my score. Another Sur dropped, but didn't even make it into my top 5 anymore at that point, and shortly before the end of the batch, a Vex dropped. In hindsight, I should have made the switch, but oh well. I was pretty confident with my score. But yeah, no Zod, no win.

Wow, what a crazy scores. Two people with Zod + Cham is already very remarkable, but them not winning the thing even more so. And don't get me started on triple Cham for fourth place only. This RFL edition is really crazy all throughout.

Congrats to the winners, but also to all participants to make this such an amazing experience.

As for my last round ... Some AS running and then, after some 3 hours or so, because no grailers could drop for me there, CS two seal runs (+ packs of ghosts), 12 hours in total. Got Um + Mal in the first 15 minutes of AS, another Mal near the end of the 12 hours. So yeah, shit drops overall. I enjoyed the CS runs with my Hammerdin though. Got him from 93 to 95, and found my second Wisp Projector, so it's all good.

Looking forward to see all the haulpics. Also curious about how @WoRG found the secret formula to 1.07 rune hunting ;).

Edit: also, Zod from AS ??!! That's a tiny chance to get one from a boss pack, right?

I think it averages a little over 6 boss packs, but I rerolled a few hours before settling on it. It was the first decent one. I only ran about 17 hours, but snagged 8th for a single point and 10th overall. Pretty pleased with the results for my first RFL and only a few months of gear-gathering. In case anyone is curious: 29 rals. 17 sols. 67 flawless rubys. 61 flawless amethysts. Haven't crafted yet.

Um fell early on, followed by Pul, and then Ohm #1 just before his update at 10 hours. Ohm #2 was next within an hour or so, and then the Gul fell a bit past 19 hours. Only other drop during the set meriting a screenshot was Executioner's Justice shortly after the Gul. Other notable drops were another Arkaine's, lots of unique jewelry, and lots of other TC78-84 uniques, along with some fun elemental charms, including this cute one:

Meager drops were offset by nice progress, with untwinked 99er necro getting past 98.25, building on 0.05 of the progress pre-RFL Rd 3 (with no runes) and a few hours of runs off-timer to reroll maps along the way (with no runes).

Having picked a target that is not efficient for runes, I generally would avoid complaining about drops. But I realized in retrospect that his rune luck was just awful, with only 5 Pul+ runes over a quarter of the level, with mass carnage from corpse explosion theoretically contributing to better odds from Nihl runs. For context, Mercy (trapper sin) picked up 14 Vex+ runes over the full 98-99, so on pace for almost 75% more Vex+ runs than the necro.

But it's not about the drops at this point, and I will take the quarter level, now third of the level, as well worth it, and just trust that the drops will come. As occurred with the Lo not less than 20 minutes of running after he finished his set and the BKWB (his first and now equipped instead of Dwarf Star) ;)

For my runs I chose P7 CS prioritizing the Storm Casters and Vizier pack. Like I said, I didn't really run as rune prioritizing as I could have (stopped to hit many packs since I had a good bit of MF/still looking for a few things). When I was getting close to 10 hours I was fairly happy with my score but I knew I wouldn't be able to do a full set regardless because of work so I decided if I didn't see another solid qualifier before the half mark I'd just stop there and try to level my Barb a bit to prepare for the next MFO (I'd like to actually try all in for at least one full set for one of these!).

I definitely understand @LongingForDeath 's sentiment but not including 1.07 would make the pool of runners even smaller than it already is. Still weird when three Chams are not higher up!

Very nice score also for @ffs who already posted his myriad runefinds outside RFL and is now literally swimming in runes :D

Really the true winner is @Luhkoh who scored the most Jah's which in my experience is truly the rarest rune when you factor in the actual uses you can get out of each individual HR. Really why do so few Jah's drop? Pretty ridiculous if you ask me...

The rarity and scores of 1.07 runes are so drastically different from 1.13+ runes that they distort the results quite a bit. I mean, look at WoRG's score this round. To beat that score in 1.13+, your top 5 would need to be at least 3 Zod and 2 Cham runes. Look at his score from the first round. Impossible to beat even with 5 Zods. Then there are other 1.07 runners who didn't score at all because they haven't found Pul+. Which makes me think that maybe 1.07 qualifiers should start with lower runes than Pul.

Don't get me wrong on this, I don't want to take anything away from @WoRG's victory. It was well deserved. Getting these runes out of 1.07 is quite a feat that requires a lot of luck. Especially getting the total victory, since that requires more than one win.

I spent most of the time (90% maybe) in the CS, 5 seals + diablo, not the most efficient run, but I wanted Xp and drops as much as runes.
I found only Mal and Um there.

I ran CS with my untwinked 99er Hammerdin. When the round started, he was still running LK, and continued to do so until he completed Enigma. I was moreover looking for Shako from Meph, which really took some time, so we started his RFL set only a week after the round started. He then ran CS from level 92 to 97 in two 20h sets.

With priorities transitioning towards XP gain, the best CS strategy until 97 was to go for @Gripphon's now standard 2 Seal runs. For runes specifically it was of course less efficient than the Vizier-only seal runs with a focus on Storm Casters, but RNG was kind...

Again I kept a file on progress and setup information, though this time I didn't keep track of craft material etc. since I crafted in small sessions as I ran, hoping to find upgrades.

S&U drops weren't all that great considering the amount of time and >300 MF most of the time, but still several useful things in particular for the Pally himself.

Thanks for hosting @Grape, I've had a great time yet again. Had my best Cow and Travincal running so far in rounds 1 and 2, and made good progress on my untwinked 99er Paladin in round 3. Add 2nd place overall and I consider that a fruitful tournament! Still waiting for that tournament win though. :D
 
@ffs That's a Zod from a non-Wraith monster even! :)

I don't know about separate leaderboards but taking into account lower runes seems only fair to the 1.07 runners. In fact since the scores are based on rarity the 1.07 qualifiers should go down all the way to those of score 3.4. After all people get their 3.4 points for a 1.13 pul but no points for a 1.07 Lum. (A 1.12 Lum is about as rare as a 1.13 Pul and I assume that 1.07 runes are even rarer than those in 1.12.)

Currently 1.07 runners only get scores above 19.4 points per rune or nothing at all. That's roughly the equivalent of 1.13 runners only counting runes Jah and above. (which would be ridiculous...)

So needless to say, I've very pleased with the results. Did almost the whole set with my poison pit necro on p5. Runs avg'd right around 2:30 (so not too good), but were avg'ing closer to 2:00 near the end. Did about 2 hours on my blizz sorc in AT on p3 just because i felt like doing a few runs, and she dropped me the vex! Found a vex right off the bat from the chest in the pit (so non-qualifier) and was able to upgrade my necro's spirit sword (lol) to a hoto. Anyways here are the haul pics!

@art_vandelay jahs are rare? I wouldn't have guessed :p I'm now sitting with two jah's in the stash doing nothing, and still haven't seen a non-cubed ber (and don't have infinity).

Scoring more runes for 1.07 doesn't make too much sense to me. Then they would have a distinct advantage with having the same chance for smaller points, but also small chances for huge scores that 1.14'ers don't have. Anyways congrats to @WoRG! As far as I know, he's the first 1.07'er to place at all in any RFL round (someone correct me if I'm wrong), let alone dominate the whole tourney.

@LongingForDeath your rune haul is obviously incredible, but 15 skillers amazes me as well. I think that's about how many I have total!

@Grape Thanks so much for hosting. I had a great time, and it was a reallllly fun way to re equip after a reset to join the forum.

Edit: One more edit to say @art_vandelay your arcane zod drop is so freakin cool. Really caps off the RFL with the whole "is arcane worth the no chance at zod" question.

As for me, well, you can pretty much see how it went. 15 hours of running without a single qualifier, it might be time for me to move on from the Pits for Round 3 next year. Still very happy with my overall placement, and congrats to @ffs for sneaking by me right at the end there. ;)

My round wasn't a total waste though, I got some good XP for the necro, and although I didn't get any actual qualifiers I did get something to be excited about; a grailer!

That puts me finally into the single digits at grail -9. It's actually eth which is great for the eth grail, but horrible for wanting to try it out on some fun builds. Guess I'll just have to find another! :p

FINAL WORDS

This third round was quite fun to change from runefinding areas into magicfinding ones. I knew from beginning this round is not actually about runes. Last time I focused CS for runes I found exactly nothing. Cool if xp is needed. Now I think I actually found solid items and did solid running overall. Not from runefinding aspect of course. I already started to level up my pitbarb to level 97 to profit some extra hit chance for faster running. 20 hours job overall.

I'd fancy some MF tournaments or league in the future. Anyway, until the next time, fellas ;)
 
Crazy stuff Gripphon !!! Makes me want to do some dedicated mf runs too. Until I realize I'll end up with 5 9.3+ qualifiers at best in the span of 20 hours, not 17 :confused:
I think set was above average in everything except maybe quality. I think closer to expectations would be something like 2-3 runes, 12 MFO items and maybe 3 to 4 facets
What no ring of fire Grip? Amateur...
