2019 Spring RFL Sign-up and Running Thread: 2nd Round

Do not forget to switch up your path while vetting Trav maps. Tracking differently can change where they spawn. I usually run a map three different ways before reloading another...

Good tip, thanks! I actually almost only tried the optimal route but it might be a bit restricting.

@Ghonn @EatSleepDiablov2 I would actually advise against using the longer (upper) route. In my experience so far it is actually very important to minimize time between the council activating and the time of the first Blizzard cast. All the travbots have very little council scattering going on because the first Blizzard is set before the council AI can even react.

I would wager that scattering can raise your average run time by like 5s because you have to finish off 2 or 3 stragglers with Ice Blast every run.

I have a pretty good Balcony map (tele under magic line) and if I make a mistake and don't cast Blizzard fast enough after 'landing' they immediately scatter, usually these runs tend to become the 'disaster runs'. (Merc RIP or Council Members running past me)

From efficiency point of view, only those two paths matter since they are straightforward to the council. Of those two path 2 is superior because it takes one teleport less to do perfect positioning unless player plans on hitting minions from the left side allowing them to scatter more easily (not to mention drops are supposed to be checked from the right side, checking from the left side has a risks of missing items).

All in all I bother to check only path 2 when rolling maps because all other paths are strictly inferior (path 1 included). Unless they have higher probability of spawning ideal maps which I didn't check to be honest.

P3 according to Gripphon's guide. The one and only setting.
Somone remind me what players setting I use? I'm having a mental block.
Barb & Sorc?

What player settings to run Travincal with?

For Travincal best setting is players 3. No if's, no but's, no when's. It is a pure fact confirmed by a test. On players 3 minions have 90% chance to drop item while on p7 they have 100%. Because of this and their HP bonus they get on higher players settings, on p3 you run them the fastest and if we include the fact they drop 90% items of those on p7, it is easy to conclude with test that p3 is simply stronger for farming. Stronger and safer at the same time. There was some rumor that Zealot paladin is fast enough on p5 or p7 to beat p3, but nope, it is not true. He is also fastest farmer on p3.

So, the answer is p3 if you want most efficient farming, or p1 if you can't handle p3, though in thatcase LK is just too strong to skip for Travincal on p1.

It took me about 2 to 2 1/2 hours to get my map. It had Toorc inside with everyone else on the left balcony. After running for 2 hours, I realized I must have been teleporting a bit off or something (I use path 2) because 95% of my runs have all council members on the left balcony.

I also have my first qualifier after 2 hours. Funny that it happened to be the run right when my oven timer went off. I have a three day weekend, so I'll see how deep I can get into my first set.

Regarding players setting, there was a rumour Zeal paladin can hit p7 better than p3 since he kills everything very fast. I kinda proved p3 is best for him too. The thing is minions have 90% chance of drop on p3 and on p5 and p7 they get much higher life while not giving enough compensation in drop odds.

And @Gripphon declared,
"Thou shalt run Travincal at players 3."
Thou shalt not run at players one
Nor shall thou venture unto players 5"

And they did run Travincal at players 3, and many runes were found.

P3 for barb

Re: my map

I can take an almost direct route to the outside corner of the balcony, curving slightly to the right. It puts most council members stacked tightly on the opposite corner. The one or two stragglers join the melee pretty quickly. Decrep is almost instant and the run is over pretty fast.

Three problems with this landing spot: 1) conviction is instant death to the merc because I have not bothered to Ral Kiras/Guardian Angel; 2) there is a Night Lord/Heirophant spawn to the left of the balcony that gets aggro'd with this path; and 3) all the loot is compressed into a very small area.

Because I am not practiced enough, more often than not, I track a bit more to the right with my teleports and land in the middle of the balcony (shaded to the left). The council is a more spread out and whirls must be a larger triangle as a result, but the loot is easier to sift through and I do not have blizzards/meteors landing on my head.

Because I value loot certainty over speed, I prefer the second path.

One hour in, and I already got a Bul-Kathos' ring, Dwarf Star, perfect poison facet, Titan's and HoZ. I call that a good start :).

Off to running again ...

And now, thanks to hitting 'N' instead of 'H', I get to reroll my map again. Yay!

@Kitteh Someone has to do the trash talk. Thanks for the effort. Appreciated :).

@Vildecor You can alt-tab out of D2 and use the task manager to shut down D2. This way you don't loose your map from an accidental misclick.

Question: Is an Infinity Merc actually affected by Conviction rolls?

He has a lvl 12 aura. Normally hostile boss Conviction auras are monlvl/8. Does that not apply to council? Because if it does they have an aura level of 85/8 = 10.625. So no matter how this is rounded (does anyone know?) it would be lower than the Merc's aura. Which would mean it is not applied to him and he doesn't need any FR overstacking.

Just wondering because I encountered a few Conviction rolls but noticed that Merc doesn't seem to be getting into trouble. I was lazy when gearing up and running with Kira/GA setup without any sockets.

@T72on1 @Vildecor Just wanted to add, that I had tried this (I'm on windows 10, but not sure if that's relevant) and thought it didn't work, but figured out you have to "go to process" and "kill process" rather than ending task.

Wow, some strong starts out there. Me I hope to complete nightmare this weekend :p I will get there!

Good luck everyone!
