2018 Spring RFL Sign-Up and Running Thread: 2nd Round

Got my necro to 92, and rolled a good map with him so he'll be the go-to guy for this round. Setup is as seen in this post, which nets me a decent -64% ePR with a ~9-10k PNova, depending on if I use that last skiller, or cast Battle Command, or forego the two.

I haven't actually done any real testing at Trav with him yet so he'll be going in cold for the actual competition, but he felt good in the ~5 runs I did after I rolled the map. My hunch is he'll be slower than my sorc (duh, that's a given) but less intensive to play, so I'll at least have options depending on my mood. :)

Also, I'm disappointed in all of you that we don't have our formal predictions for the round in yet. I think this will be an extremely close round for the top 5 or so people, should be very interesting to see the results. My prediction:

1. Grape (don't mess with the Zod God)
2. ffs
3. Nanomist
4. T72on1
5. maxicek

I think they'll all be within 10 points of each other, and any one of them can win this round. I think for me personally I will land somewhere between 5-8, and would be happy with that due to taking a 'slower' character in my necro and the inevitable adjustment period I'll need to get used to him.

I guess since I'm here and need roonz I can add myself to the table (though no way I'm approaching 20 hours)
I'll be pulling Sneezy over to council running because who can resist horking? As I don't have Enigma, I might keep him a Frenzy Barb for the extra speed gains, running with a pair of Oaths. I'm also really curious if using a Wrath Merc can be a thing, though I'll unfortunately have to trade his current companion out since she's a cold arrow rogue.

Good luck and have fun everyone! We won't be seeing any Zods this round, but as far as I know Travincal, I'm optimistic we'll see even more qualifiers overall and super juicy haul pics. ;)

It'll be really tough race again.

My bet is that @pharphis takes the round with a super-rare 1.07 HR, big time. Sorry guys, that's the way it goes.

@T72on1 will continue with awesome luck, and @PhineasB will make up for the first round in Travi with great score as well. Then me, I'll take the Chams, right.
 
O yes, predictions, that is right. Good thing we have @Pb_pal thinking about it !!!

Travincal is all about efficiency and only a bit of luck, contrary to the other 2 rounds. So my bets are on the fast guys out there: Grape, PhineasB, ffs, Nanomist and Pb_pal. Those will be the top 5 of this round, unless 1.07 coughs up something really rare. Which I think is actually quite likely. Even then, my money is on @NanoMist for this round.

Good luck everyone !!! Gonna practice a little now, then start my runs tomorrow afternoon. Probably not too much after that the first week, but hopefully more after that.

if only. Have to rush/level the char a bit first, before I'm willing to risk it's life. I might be too lazy and just use one of my other chars though (the 98 sorc because I don't want to gear up my 99 barb)

Seems pretty lucky for a random map. Can run this and not wipe out AT. :)

That is, I can start running when/if hackedagainanda logs in and trades me those GCs...
 
Busy workweek so no practice runs at all before start of the round. :(

Given my history in these, I'm surprised anyone thinks I'm a threat to score points at all. But I'll happily cash in my luck here for good stuff in the 99er challenge any day :p

So things are a little better now that I've decided to forgo all cold damage. I don't think shattering really happens that much My current gear looks like:

Death Col Blade from my Sept
Oath Col Sword 310+ roll (only 4 OS ethereal elite base I had)
Arreats (IAS max dmg jewel)
Fortitude
LoH
Aldur's (just need FRW really as LoH takes care of fire)
Nos Coil / SoE
Ravenfrost
Rare LL, res, AR ring
Highlords
Heart Carvers on switch (can't be bothered to weapon swap for BO etc., brings FI up to 46%)
Bunch of life, AR, res etc charms

He seems to be doing pretty well for survival. As expected physical immunes are annoying as leeching drops off. And amp + damage aura can be bad.

Other main issue is AR. With this setup he's at 77% chance to hit with Frenzy and 72% with DSwing (happens a lot with mana leech bosses). He's kinda underleveled (85) so I'm hoping as he hits some levels this might sort itself out. I guess I can swap out Highlords for Metalgrid? Or fill up more inventory space with charms.

The merc I need to work on a bit. Runs are definitely easier with her alive. Come to think of it, it might be Inner Sight that is making her useful with my bad AR. But she dies off and on almost randomly. I think it might be LE bosses that are hre problem but not sure. I started with Kira's, Treachery and Wrath bow. Didn't realize Fade would not proc from hyrdas, so I definitely need to find another armor. I dont have GA, but can swap in CoH from my sorc for the time being I guess. I did maybe 3 runs with a really crappy Steel Shade (perfectly bad 5 absorb roll). Amazingly, this still performs better than Kiras in regards to Hydras. But I need to get her res up. Also need to practice my approach as the faster I get my leap in, the closer the first round of hydras are to me, so she doesn't take all the heat.
 
Nice spreadsheet there, thanks a lot !! Interesting, but can also be frustraing if you find yourself below average :p.
