As for my own results ... I feel even more terrible now. With all the people claiming their drops were awful, for a while I figured mine were bad, but not too bad. Guess not . I'll post details and screenies later on, when I have more time.
Hopefully things will go better in round 2 for me. I don't have my hopes set too high though. Over 5 hours of Travincal running over the past few days have netted me 2 qualifiers only: Sur and Pul. For round 1 I was doing the area that was supposed to be best, did a full batch, and even lost to people doing far worse areas and maybe not even a full batch. I must be doing something terribly wrong .
Sorry for the rant. But the results are really shocking for me personally.
@T72on1 don't feel too bad. This round was mostly about luck. Ofc such is needed for the next two also, but one can work it little farther with efficient running.

Now, for my 4th spot, that's simply amazing. But what is more amazing, at least to me, is that it's my 2nd set. Which was not a full set. Only 13 hours. So, you can kinda see why I was still pushing it on Thursday night, trying to get something going on and increase my score. Then again, my last hour was pretty crazy in that set, it landed me with Lo, Um, Ohm, Pul and Gul, so three of my top5 in that final hour. And the Jah came in an hour before that, so the last two hours it was raining for me.

As for me, during last 3 hours I still hunted upgrade on score to have at least above 40. Kinda expected to see like 5-6 players with 50+ score as mentioned during running when I did some bit of statistics, so I kind of knew that with my score expectation was to be really happy if I end up in top 5 with higher probability to land below that. 7th place is not something I hoped for, but expected given my score.

Farmed total of 34 Rals and 33 Sols.
During running I kept some statistics going on how good CS can be in runefinding, and came to conclusion it could get very near to cows, however also found upgrade for cows, so in the end difference will be higher. Overall pretty interesting experimental 20 hours comparing javazon in pit vs sorc in CS and such things. Also got my sorc to level 96 and then some.
So three outta five, not bad. I was also wrong when I predicted that someone running Pits has no chance against efficient CS runner, since at least Grape and Pb_pal ran Pits. Obviously, getting two Jahs within twenty hours or so is amazing luck, but it can't be total coincidence it happens to some of the most experienced players participating.
As for my own performance... yeah, not that awesome. The qualifying set is my first set, the PitNecro one. All the qualifiers were found during the first 10 hours of said set, so the second half was absolutely miserable. Almost all useful items dropped in the first half, so my morale wasn't high and it definitely had an effect on my efficiency. In other words, I kinda stopped giving the crap, and it obviously didn't help.

So yeah, the game really didn't want to throw me that bone. I focused mostly on ghosts but I killed a lot of bosspacks as well, shuffling it a bit as I went along. I mostly ran the two seals, but there's also few hours of only the Vizier seal. All in all, I think I did the best I could. I killed a lot of monsters in with pretty decent efficiency, but you can't really force those High Runes outta monsters, can you?
Leveled the Necro to 95 and the Sorc to 96, so that counts as time well spent. In the end, I decided not to respec the Sorc, so that's a bonus. She's Travincal ready, now I just gotta roll a map.
Overall, within 40 hours I found 12 qualifiers, six each set. Bit low I guess, but I'm ok with that, since basically only goal I set myself (apart of leveling my toons) was to find 5 qualifiers each set. 16 hour dry streak speaks volumes. Here are my rune totals (Picked up Ko+, Rals and Sols):

No Pul in sight, that might be a bit surprising. I must admit, I'm a bit dissapointed I didn't get even one qualifier with over 10 points, that would've been nice morale boost. But in the end, I'm actually kinda pleased results, since the I actually have use for the qualifiers I got. I'm especially happy about two Ists, since for me, Ists are Jah/Ber-tier in regards of how hard it seems to be for me to find them. So, by personal standards, I got pretty lucky after all.
Not gonna do haulpic. Honestly, 10h at Countess would've probably netted a better haul Instead, I'm probably gonna use them for something cool and ridiculous.
Congrats to winner and all who got scores! Amazing luck! Two Zods! I wasn't really expecting any scores based on my results, but next round I'll be dissapointed if I'm not in the Top 8.
No 10+ pointer in 40 hours is extremely unlucky event. I think your expected number of those was like 5+... But everything will come to its place sooner or later.
Obviously disappointed about quality of qualifiers, and the fact that I didn't even find 5 during 20 hours. In fact, they all dropped between the 7.5 hour and 12.5 hour mark, so outside of those runs were frustrating. In the first period I switched AT and CS, after that I only did CS. In total I spent 3:53 hour in AT (158 runs), rest in CS (522 runs).

I knew I'd end up coming second despite the result (I even said it to Grape as I sent in the results, who must have been cackling on his throne), although I wasn't expecting a second person to be in the same boat.
As for myself, well, there's a lot of flash for what essentially amounts to "I got lucky early in AT, and unlucky for the rest."
First off.. where it started.
Set 1: Operation: "Wishful Thinking" - Just because it's different, doesn't mean it's a good idea.
So as far as SC SP, I had actually only a single character, that being Squid from the Old Gods tournament. And while he has stepped away from his tournament rules slightly since his completion, he's still mostly using the same gear. I figured that I'd stand no chance against more efficient player using much better items in arguably better areas than the Pit. Thus I wasn't overly excited to play him, despite actually liking the character and expecting him to make a potential return in later rounds.
So for some reason, in my half-baked, hipster mind I thought "Okay, I need to try an area/run other people aren't doing that may be overlooked and just hope I get lucky." After perusing drop tables I remembered that Hephasto has an unusually high chance to drop a Zod. "Oh cool, I'll go and make a character to kill him, that'd be neat." I thought, for some reason convinced that killing a boss in an area competition would be more efficient. In any case, this spawned RouteSixtySix, my kicker. She was positioned at Pindle in Normal by the time the RFL started, and I turned on the timer when I was in later parts of NM just because I didn't want the mud on my face if I ran into something good.
After many NM Pindle deaths she eventually pushes her way into Hell and gets to Act 4. It's there that the reality of "Maybe trying to clear an 85 zone to get to one of the toughest superuniques wasn't a good idea, nor is it particularly fast." Despite cobbling together a Crescent Moon and Guillaumes, my poor Kicker didn't have her preferred boots (She was using IK Boots in the meantime) and so I felt very undergeared to do this efficiently, still convincing myself this was a good idea.
"I just need gear, that's my problem!" I said, and thus Clover, my MF Sorc was born. She joined in extending the timer once she was at NM Pindle as well, and began farming Mephisto with it on as well. Despite an early Shako find and moderate success there, I wasn't really finding anything of particular use to my kicker but I kept the Mephisto runs going for a time. Once my Sorc started getting more gear I was jumping around Hell to pick up quest rewards (Izual, Den, Radament, Resists, etc) all with the timer on because why not. I was alternating between Pindle and Mephisto, being in the low 80s when I made my (now moved) post about running zones where I believe @Gripphon said (paraphrasing) "Not exactly sure what is Meph for except farming first Shako and stuff[...]" which made me start to look at other areas (so yes, this is all your fault, is what I'm getting at). Because I kept the timer on for just about all late NM/Hell shenanigans I was actually running out of time. With no gear yet coming in for my kicker, I ran out the timer setting up my (now level 84) Sorceress and had a big goose egg of qualifiers to show for it due to the very unfocused use of the clock.
Set 2: Operation: "Wet Blanket" - Because there's probably a reason people do the things they do.
So this was a mixture of "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em." As well as a lie that I was telling myself that once I find my Kicker gear (which I still hadn't) I'd go and do my original intention of killing Hephasto who had been killed maybe only one to two dozen times.
So I decided to go to the land of AT to continue magic finding. It should be noted I was trying to have my cake and eat it, as I was soon playing on /players 8 with mostly MF dedicated gear. I had maybe an hour of getting used to my map until I was comfortable with the layout and style of AT, which I haven't run in a while.
"Unfortunately" it was around this time that all of my friends decided to come out of the woodwork and play other games, so it was cutting into my Diablo 2 time. Still, when we weren't playing anything and in Skype calls I would be mindlessly farming AT in the background, which was when only a few hours into this second set, my Zod dropped. My friends had to endure a rather impressive chain of expletives over Skype when that happened, all with very little context.
And no, the ring was a Manald Heal, I didn't hit the ultra lottery, just the Zod one..
Besides sending out shards of truth behind sarcasm as to what other things I was up to, the remainder of this set time was used in AT. I ultimately ended up running out of time in the tournament, not the set. After all my additional hours in AT the next highest run I found was a Hel, so as it turns out the cheese stands alone.
Unused Operation: "Résumé Padding" - Because you need to put something in the white space.
I actually had a plan after finding my Zod to create/respec a Sorc to run Countess. I was worried that I wouldn't end up finding any other qualifiers, and that I'd wind up losing to someone who had five good qualifiers rather than just the highest (clearly now we can all see I was just being paranoid..). I figured that she was the most guaranteed method to get any qualifiers, even if they were the lowest ones. But due to the time crunch and other commitments I ultimately abandoned this idea, although my Blizzard Sorc did run about 10 Countess runs with her Merc, which resulted in the highest rune since my Zod of the set: A Lem. Countess, you are a heartless woman with your taunting.
Because I was doing so much MFing and my overall wealth is fairly low, there were notable drops for myself that might be of lesser values to others, so don't mind the trash.

As far as charms go, nothing to blow anyone's minds. Some decent resists charms, and I believe my only Skiller was a plain +1 Combat Skills.

Yeah, this things have a tendency to balance themselves. I think the game knows I've been sitting on some high runes and refuses to give me more until I use them.
That being said, my biggest dissapointment during round 1: Not being able to find worthy Zod God item. OK, found eth Blackbog's Sharp, but it's been done already. I want something original.

@Xios Good write-up and nice mf haul. And congrats for the Zod of course. As a current owner of two Zods, I can give you some pointers on what to do with it. So far my favorite use for Zod has been to drop it in stash and keep it there, kinda forgetting it exists, never doing anything with it. Has been going pretty good so far. Other thing I've been doing with it, is remembering I have it, theorycrafting about BotD a while, then dropping the thought because it would be a waste of perfectly good Vex.
@Xios great story! I was wondering how we ended up with not one but TWO Zod only contributions. It seems the odds of finding a Zod are nearly as low as rune hunting for 33 hours and not finding Pul+
As I mentioned all my drops came from chests and poppables. Ber, Gul, Ist, Pul from Superchests, Ist Pul from poppables. I didn't really do a lot of killing as I only leveled from just below 91 to about 2/3rds to 92 during the course of this. Really wish I had switched to Blizzard earlier, and that I could have completed the set. But I was already lucky enough to hit that Ber in the time span. It wasn't a new pattern btw, further convincing me that p7/8 LK truncated superchests are actually a rather strong outlier from normal chest drop odds.
Woo squeaked in there in 8th place. I am at work, when I get home this afternoon, I will post a picture of the runes and the sweet loot I found. I only had about 16 hours or so in this round as some crazy things IRL got in the way, but this Round I will be all clear and good to go for 1 maybe 2 sets.
I like the idea to run countess to guarantee another drop. Should have just gone for it w/o a respec and do 50 runs. That should be enough to get pul+ or whatever
That was what I was doing when I was playing until midnight but I ran out of time. I still had plenty of time in that set so if it was played to its full extent I should have been able to pul one extra qualifier out of that hat. Oh well.

I thought that I'd be outside the top 8 without a fourth qualifier, but it turned out to be only just so. Baal died a lot during my 20 hour set (320 times or so).
And one qualifier from incomplete second set
Three runes, all from different sources. The Um came from boss mob in WSK2, the Sur from Baal, and the Jah from the minions. Too bad she didn't find a fourth from random monster in the throne room (like an earlier Lo she found) to tick off a fourth possible source.
Most important, Mercy got very close to 98 during her 20 hours and just pinged the level this morning!
@Xios zod brother!! lol and both from AT i got mine at the very end of my set though. I had given up for the most part so i switched back to P1 and in the last hour of my 20 boom ZOD lol

HotO!!! Wooooo!!! With a perfectly low roll of +30 res all. Gah. Still, it's a step in the right direction and a definite upgrade from my 2x eth Eschuta's that I had found, one of which my Blizzy was still using. STILL no Oculus after 1.3K Meph runs, 700 kindle runs and ~ 1K mausoleum and AT runs. At this rate i'll find a Fathom before I find an Oculus.
Next stop CoH and CTA. Hopefully my rune finding skills get better and i'll make one of them before the RFL is over!

My 20hrs weren't really great. I found 3 low runes - Pul Um Ist.
I knew it will be hard, because I chose to pick my untwinkled lvl 87 sorceress, with an average stuff. So I did the 20 hours in /p1, I ran mostly Ancient Tunnel, River of Flame / Chaos Sanctuary (including Diablo kill), Shenk/eldritch.
As you can see I found my runes on 3 different spots :

I thought even if I don't win, I could find some nice runes (I would have loved Jah, Ohm or Vex). And if not, I could easily find nice stuff to strengthen my sorceress or my merc (a monarch could be a start, I only found a 1 socket and get 3 sockets in another one...)
Item drops were poor also. I didn't change any piece of equipement...
I gained about 2 lvl to 89 1/2, but I expected these 20 hours to be more efficients.
Anyway, just after the batch, I went back to mephisto and I dropped an eschuta's temper (+2) and an occulus right after that...
I'll be on the 2nd round, but probably with my zeal/smite paladin, I made some test, and the concil is easy and very safe in /p5.

As for my results, I found 11 qualifiers in the first batch, with the top 5 being Lo, Sur, Ohm, Gul, and Gul. The remainder were Ist, Mal, Um, Um, Pul, and Pul along with 39 Rals and 38 Sols collected. Highlight video! No transitions separating the 5 clips, but the start times are in the description.
My second batch of runs fell about 4 hours short of the full 20, but the point total was not too far behind my first batch. The top 5 were Sur, Vex, Ohm, Ohm, and Ist, with a total of 52.0 points, only 1.1 points less than my first set. My only other qualifier was a Mal, giving me a total of 6 qualifiers in this batch. I found my top 4 on the last day, so it was rough going up until then. 28 Rals and 28 Sols this time. Highlight video#2!

Wow! Some great results there are TWO Zods?! Congrats everyone on their finds, some good showings all around. Special congrats of course to the Zod God winning round one (I was one of the many who predicted as such), despite some Zods being thrown around!
As for me, it was an... interesting set, to say the least, and I'm extremely happy that I snuck in there and nabbed 3rd.
I did minimal running as practice beforehand, and really didn't have much experience with a Pit Windy in general, so there was definitely a learning curve. It got off to a bang with Jah #1 within the first hour of running. Not an hour later we found our Ist, and then again an hour or so of running later we dropped Jah #2!
So within the first 4 or so hours of running, we already had a pretty good score going. Karma of course decided to even things out and we didn't see another qualifier for another 10 hours (it was an Um by the way, just to rub it in a little bit). It was another couple hours (into hour 16 or so now when we finally filled out a Top 5 with a Mal. Finally we topped it off with a Lo not too long after that.
So not as many runes as other contestants, but luckily the ones I did find were good scorers! As previously mentioned, my druid leveled from 89-94 during this round, so I'm happy with that too. I managed to find exactly 1 skiller as well (Assassin - MA), so that was a bit disappointing.
Would I recommend the Pits to anyone doing this next time? Not with a Windy.

Thanks, I combined 5 separate clips, and it's a coincidence if any clip appends smoothly into the next clip. Vex and Sur were 50 runs apart, judging by the timer/counter on the left.
I guess I paid a price for my HRs, not much good uniques/charms/jewels/etc. dropped for me. 30@ Mara's and 20L/8LR were probably the highlights.
I did ~950 P7 Pit runs with my Javazon, so about 75s each run. I believe I could make it below 70s maybe, not much faster for extended periods on this map.

I'm really happy with the Jahs, since they will probably serve as a half Zod for a Zod God item in the future. I rather take those instead of little higher pointer Bers. Jahs are twice as valuable for me personally at the moment

Same level, 97, in every picture. Paid a price in exp also. I didn't die a single time when I took it little slower with my warm-up runs, but the RFL speed did the trick. But that didn't really hurt.
