- 1 point for each quest
- 5 points for becoming Destroyer
- 10 points for becoming Conquerer
- 15 points for becoming Guardian

Characters:
This is the special part of the tourney. The idea is that the character you make is based on a theme. It doesn't really matter what theme, use whatever theme you like (a book, a movie, a TV-serie, another computergame, mythology, etcetera, etcetera ). For instance a Necro using a scythe weapon and Fire Golem as "The Grim Reaper" (Necro) and the Devil (FireGolem). What kind of build you make is your choise, but please have a little imagination and don't use a Meteorb with the name of Merlin (If you want to, I won't stop you but I'd like to see what kind of creations you can come up with). In order to promote the use of your imagination there will be multipliers given to each build (your points will be multiplied by that number). Multipliers will be given on the friday before the start of the tournament.

Note: These are posts #2-20 from the original thread.

Can we change our character before the start date? because i was thinking either rocky or matrix, but i didnt see someone grabbed rocky first. I dont mind matrix style, but i've never really enjoyed the idea of a kicksin, and that makes a big part of the build, plus i have a MB/trapsin already so it would feel much like im just doing it all again, but with kicking.
EDIT: Matrix build summary:
MA (not sure which yet, i'll have to do some research) and MB as main skills, wears balck, no helm that has a graphic (circlets ok). SM to represent trinity and act 2 merc to show morpheus.
I rekon with practise it could be hell viable, but im a kicksin n00b.
I have no problem with people changing their builds. As long as you are clear about what build/chara you use I don't see a problem.
Yay, it's about to start. Well, as before, I'm still doing the drunken brawler, unless I come up with something better before the start date.
"In a great hall under the mountains of Middle-earth, Aulë, the smith of the Valar, fashioned the Seven Fathers of Dwarves during the Ages of Darkness, when Melkor and his evil servants in Utumno and Angband held sway over all of Middle-earth. Therefore Aulë made Dwarves stout and strong, unaffected by cold and fire, and sturdier than the races that followed. Aulë knew of the great evil of Melkor, so he made the Dwarves stubborn, indomitable, and persistent in labor and hardship. They were brave in battles and their pride and will could not be broken."

Name: Thorin (In honor of D2Addict's lvl99 character, I will not use the name Gimli)
Theme: LOTR
Stats: Here's where I'm headed (may vary slightly)
Concentrate - 20
Battle Orders - 20
Shout/Iron Skin - 20 (not sure which I'll choose, Iron Skin seems to fit the theme better, but shout gives better defense boost...probably will go IS to fit the theme :))
Axe Mastery - 10+ (should this be higher? not that I expect help from my opponents hehe)
Natural Resist - 10+
Beserk - 1+
Pre-req's - 4
Rules/Restrictions: 2h axe only. Will use starter weapon until I find or can purchase a 2h axe.

This sounds like fun. I haven't made a barbarian in quite some time :).

The Valkyries ("Choosers of the Slain") are beautiful young women, mounted upon winged horses and armed with helmets and spears. Odin needs many brave warriors for the oncoming battle of Ragnarok, and the Valkyries scout the battlefields to choose the bravest of those who have been slain. They escort these heroes, called the Einherjar to Valhalla, Odin's hall.

The Valkyries are also Odin's messengers and when they ride forth on their errands, their armor causes the strange flickering light that is called "Aurora Borealis" (Northern Lights).

The Idea is to make a Tankazon with an as powerfull Valkyrie (Slain Hero) as possible so all points go into Valkyrie 'synergies'. I don't think the build will be easy. But I do think I've seen more crazy builds in this Tourney....

Name: Hildr

Build: Tankazon

Magic (Valkyrie + 'synergy'):
-20 Valkyrie (Slain Hero)
-20 Decoy
Passive (All Valkyrie 'Synergies'):
-10 Critical Strike (56 %)
-12 Dodge (50 %)
-10 Avoid (55 %)
-10 Penetrate (+125 %)
-12 Evade (50 %)
Prereq: 2
Total: 96

Rules Restrictions:
-Only Act 1 Merc (Other Valkyrie)
-Only Javalin-Type Weapon + Shield
-No Jewelery
-No gloves
-Armor has to have + Light Radius (Northern Lights)

PS: I will obviously ask someone else to evaluate my build
Do I have to sign until Saturday? Or can I join later, when the tournament will be in progress? I can't think of a good theme/build I would like to play and I have several other D2-related projects...
Fidge was a child of the light, born and raised in the zakarum temple he learned about the powers of good and evil. Other than his friends, he only had little, he was more interested in the power of evil. He wanted to learn about it thouroughly before venturing and destroying it. As he was a young pupil, within Fidge the darkness grew and when he ventured out for the first time he met a Sith lord.
Siths are the sworn enemies of the light, however this lord was weak. As he fought the Sith, he felt his emotions take over and the moment he took the Siths life, the darkness took his.
Now Fidge ventures to find a pupil of his own... to train in the dark arts.

Fidge, level 1 paladin.
Sith Lord.
Level 1, scaring people in the rogue encampment.

Restrictions

Skill restrictions:
Fidge wanders on the dark path and cannot use any of the aura's a fighter of the light can use.
(so.. scrap offencive and defencive aura's..)
Fidge can never use the holy skills, he has learned them.. but cannot fight with them.
(so.. scrap smite, holy bolt, blessed hammer, holy shield, conversion and fist of heaven)
Skills:
Prereq 1
20 Sacrifice
20 Zeal
20 Charge
20 Vengeance
Total: 81

Mercenary restrictions:
Fidge is looking for a Sith pupil. There are allways two.
No mercenary allowed, except for an act 5 barb merc. No gear restrictions on the merc as he has splendid grafics.

Armor restrictions:
Sith lords do not need armor, they fight with their lightsabres or they die.
Only leather armor and cap allowed. Only swords allowed, 2-handed preferably. No resctrictions on jewelry, belt, gloves or boots.

Quest restrictions:
All quests and wp's must be obtained. All venturing will be done without running away or quitting before I bite the dust. Sith lords stand tall and fear nothing. When I am a full Sith lord (learned all my skills) and my pupil is fully trained (the same level as me) my venture is done. So.. when I reach 81 skillpoints and level up my merc I'm done.. It is possible at clvl 69, but I'll probably die at Duriel.. I mean I'll probably be 71 orso.
I'd like to make some adjustments to my character, Thorin, to make things more challenging :). Forgive me, the edit function doesn't work for some reason when I'm logged in on my laptop.

Skills:
Concentrate: 20
Battle Orders: 20
Iron Skin: 20
All Resistances: 10
Shout: 10+

Rules/Restrictions:
On top of the weapon restriction, I am limiting myself to the following armor and headgear classes (and the equivalent exceptional/elite version):

Armor: Quilted, Leather, Hard Leather, Studded Leather, Breast Plate (since you don't see too many Dwarves walking around in full plate mails)
Headgear: Skull cap, Circlets, Coronet (since Dwarves have too much hair for their heads to fit in anything else )

I'm pretty sure that's because one hour had passed. ;) Can't edit posts beyond that point.
Hrus: During the first 2 months of the tourney signups are still open. So feel free to join whenever you like.
You missed me :(

I'm doing a char from Jordan's WoT I'm thinking Faile ('zon w/ swords and knives) Rouge would be "Bain", Valkrie would be "Chaid" those two are a pair, so I can't get the rouge w/o my valk. If there's anyway to get a wolf from equip (never been that interested in charges or + to skills for a dire wolf, so I have to go looking) then that'll be "Perrin"

Hmmm, I need to get on it.

That's such a great idea! I love it! :)

This tourney would have been very interesting to join if i hadn't put myself up for something yet, and if i weren't such a slow player. But i'll think on it for a bit longer and might join up after all, would be fun!
I'll post my finalized theme. I've changed a few thigs which I highlighted.

Protoss Elite Fenix
I got the idea from starcraft. In the game Fenix takes two forms zealot(melee) and dragoon(ranged). This will be an assassin. I will try to make her as true to the zealot as possible. She will obviously be dual katar. Dragon claw will be my main killing skill because zealots attack with both hands. In SC you can upgrade a zealots speed so I will use BoS. You can also increase their attack three times so that is 3 points(base) into claw mastery. It may get boosted higher by plus skills. I also want to include the shields that zealots get. It will offer me extra proection and more life. Protoss shields also recharge over time. I will accomplish this in three ways. Get any items and mods that give me X% dmg taken goes to mana, mana regen, and +X goes to mana after each kill. Also I cannot use mana potions. I will also have to pump my life and energy equally.

Now for the dragoon. I'll mostly focus on the zealot part but I want to have ranged damage also. Since dragoons fire slowly I'll use a xbow as my weapon. I'll load it up with as much lightning damage I can because the dragoons attack with phase disruptor bolts. I will mostly use the dragoon form when I fight physical immunes.

One other aspect of the protoss I want to incorporate is the psychic link that all protoss share. They are able to connect mentally with one another. MB will be my way of "connecting" with other protoss. If they are one of my clansmen then they will fight with me. If not then I wll have to kill them.

This idea come from Starcraft itself.Starcraft is a RTS. You don't attack one unit at a time. So I'll have a SW as another zealot to fight with me and a barb merc which represents a reaver which is the tank unit of protoss.

Overview
Theme:Zealot
Weapons:dual katar/Xbow with lightning dmg
Skills: 20 dragon claw, 20 SW, 8 MB, 7 BoS, 10 weapon block, 3 claw mastery, 1 TS and CS
Stats: Enough str and Dex for katars, Vit and NRG split 50/50
Merc:None

I can't wait to start.
Build theme: Metroid

<- Points vainly to Metroid Zero Mission avatar
The character is Samus Aran, Bounty Hunter. In the Metroid series there have been a ton of variations in various aspects of play. From no saves or map (Metroid for NES) to the heavily linear Metroid Fusion, in which a lousy computer told you where to go and gave you stuff, to the First-Person adventures in Metroid Prime and its sequel, it was hard for me to decide how I wanted the character to work.

But the first part was obvious. Between all the games, Samus has one thing. A huge variety of moves. Sorceresses have a good number of spells but when I think "a lot of abilities" my mind goes straight to Amazons. Plus, they're blonde, and the last one I played was the ill-fated JadziaDax (though this will only be MORE challenging than she was, I hope). Samus (the Diablo II character) will be based on the Metroid: Zero Mission game for GBA. In this game Samus may access Saves and Maps (in my view the map, while not necessary, is a convenience (especially for my playing style) that I wouldn't want to deny myself...not even if it will garner extra multiplier points), but her only option to regain energy and other vital supplies is to blast monsters to death. Samus will also explore every area searching for more and better power-ups. Monsters also respawn frequently in Metroid so Samus will be allowed to battle these respawns if it will greatly aid her survival. Samus fights alone. There will be no mercenary allowed. Not that it matters because once she enters the fray he will not be able to communicate with anyone (which I ripped off from AlterEgo's mime). She carries everything on her person, so there will be no use of the stash (muled items will be placed in ATMA, and not retrieved). Lastly, Samus has no real defensive abilities (barring Morph Ball, which has no D2 equivalent), and none of the Passive and Magic skills don't correspond to anything she has. The exceptions are Inner Sight, which could be compared to the Echo/Dark visor from Echoes or the X-Ray visor in Super Metroid, and Slow Missiles, which will make up for the lack of jump evasion. Plus they're just damn useful and I would never go without them.

So...the build:

Bow and Crossbow: 66 Points total
22 Points for Cold (prereq), Ice (prereq), and freezing Arrow maxed, representing the Ice Beam
22 Points for Magic Arrow (prereq), Multishot (prereq), and Guided Arrow maxed, representing the Charge Beam (improving single target damage hugely)
22 Points for Fire Arrow (prereq), Exploding arrow (prereq), and Immolation Arrow maxed, representing the multi-target beams (don't recall names, Wave maybe) from the series

Javelin and Spear: 22 Points Total
22 Points for Poison Javelin (prereq), Lightning Bolt (prereq), and Plague Javelin
The javelin skills are a bit of a stretch, I know, but there's not a whole lot to be done. It's not like Samus to get skills that are redundant (synergies). Plus there's more of a limit on the Javelins which works better with missiles.

Passive and magic: 4 points total
1 Point Inner Sight (the Dark Visor from Prime)
3 Points Slow Missiles (it just has to be recast too often otherwise)

The points total 92, which is a little high...because she can't return Izual or the Den of Evil she recieves only three bonus skill points, finishing the build at 89 (which she won't reach anyway). GA will be maxed last because it works so differently from the other skills, not using synergies and all. Plus it costs the least mana so it hurts the least.

Other restrictions: no retrieving items from stash, no communication with townsfolk, no mercenary, and of course my usual play rules (clear every area once, no running)

Whew! That was long!

You learn something new everyday  . Thanks NF!

My character for this tournament will be Storm from the X-men. She'll be sort of a Weathergirl sorc, but without Meteor.

For skill restrictions, there will be no telekinesis, no teleporting, no fire skills (warmth is out, too), no static field (for more difficulty), and no cold shields. Before she gets blizzard and thunderstorm, she can only use the lightning-based attack skills (sans nova). The only skills she'll be putting more than 1 point in will be Blizzard (maxxed), Thunderstorm (maxxed), Cold & Lightning Mastery (maxxed last), and probably a 10/10 split between Lightning and Chain Lightning.

She'll be weaponless and shieldless, wearing only circlet-type helms, leather armors (including boots and gloves), can use any belts, rings, and amulets. She will also be traveling without a mercenary.

Can't wait to start.
Name: Isildur
I will be playing with a LOTR theme, I always thought aragorn was so kewl with his 2 handed sword. After traveling for decades in the waste lands this ranger from the north with no thought for his own safety will purge the land of evil. Using the only sword that no one can be immune against, they will flee at the sight of him but be stunned with the wonder of his sword.

He will always carry a 2handed weapon along with bow and arrow on switch.
Merc? Where would he be without an elf (rogue) companion always keeping watch for the other they will be feared.

Skills:
Berserk 20
War Cry 20
Sword Mastery 20
Howl 20
resists
Shout ...rest

He will explore every last bit of the land clearing everything...
No real restrictions on gear, he will travel light weight though. And be fast.
Never needing to take a brake from his mission.

Ok Don't know if I can play that much, but will try to fit some time in soon. But it doesn't look like this is too pressured though. Never had a hc past normal baal though. Haven't tried before either!

this will be fun
here, precise version of my char.

Name: Gorath (martial arts assasin)
theme: Krondor serie's

build:

double katar, or sword+shield
equipment has to be magic or better (exept for beginning ones)
only act 2, or act 3 merc. (magician Owyn)
skills:
fade =8
Venom=13
shadow mastery= 13
weapon block= 5

martial arts:
dragon talon = 7
dragon flight= 8
Phoenix strike = 10
fist of fire =2
claws of thunder=2
blades of ice=3
dragon claw=2
dragon tail=2
(further skills for working up to better, lvl 1)

total= 82
(if i ever manage to get that far) ;)
amy, my neo kill kick (litrally) your MA sins ass. :uhhuh:
Oh, and im restricting my gear further so that wherever possible he wears a black item (or item socketed with skull), and will not wear gloves.
I might have to spend the first week ro so practising kicking and avoiding death but after that i will pwn all!

Note: These are posts #21-40 from the original thread.

Ok, my build is finalized.

Princess Zelda/Sheik
Since neither is ever seen using a weapon (except in a few special cases), I will not be using a weapon. To meet the special cases (Sheik using a whip and throwing daggers in SSMB, and the reborn Zelda using a bow in Wind Waker), I will allow either throwing knives or a bow on switch. Sheik is highly capable of blocking attacks, but this requires a shield, so I will allow a shield, though only the smaller shields (buckler and small shield, and their exceptional/elite versions). As for armor: body armor, only up to studded leather; headgear, only caps and circlets; gloves, up to heavy gloves; boots, up to heavy boots; and belts, up to heavy belt. I am allowed to use exceptional/elite versions of any acceptable armor types. Rings and amulets are fully allowed, as are charms.
All skills are allowed except for the following: Shadow Warrior, Shadow Master, and Venom. Some skills will be useless without a weapon, so I won't be putting more points in them than necessary as pre-requisites.
The only ally Sheik had was Link, and the closest to Link is either an Act 1 or Act 5 Mercenary. However, Link is male, so that cuts out a Rogue, and he wasn't very muscular, so no Barbarian either. So I will be going with no mercenary. If I accidentally acquire a mercenary from a quest reward, that mercenary will be killed and not revived.
I must have been tired when I thought of the skill placement, I doubt I will be leaving BO out. It will be more like this:

Sword Mastery 20
Berserk 20
Howl/War Cry?
BO 20
all one point wonders...
Then late I would be maxing any synergies for berserk obviously.

I have never used War cry before any thoughts? is it better than to have howl and the synergy? Is it hard to use war cry? The stun length is not even that long is it still ok for hell?
atigdng im not too sure on the warcry but i seem to recall that it does last ok in hell (maybe thats based on a synergy though.. nightfish's berserker guide might have some good info on it)

Anyway i was hoping to join the tournament as well :)

Theme: Vlad the Impaler's (Dracula) wife

Mrs_Impaler stalks the land hunting those who claim to be more evil than her husband with the added benefit of maybe picking up some wardrobe accesories that Vlad would just adore her in.

Name: Mrs_Impaler (any Dracula fans know of a better suiting one?)
Gear: Blood, blood and more blood (crafted gear that is)*
Skills: Impale, Valk, passives and if i make it to hell (highly unlikely) invest in FA for some survivability

*if i find a nosferatu's coil i must wear it (nosferatu is another name for dracula or something i think) and also dracul's grasps (although im yet to find a pair MF'ing consistently! hehe)
any other vampire/dracula gear anyone can think of? (not trang oul's)

EDIT: just saw that blood weopon says it can be only axes? does this still stand in 1.10? well thats ok as it frees me to use better spears (and the impaler if i find it hehe)
I'm still in - essentially a repost from last thread...
--------------------------------------------------------------
Bip, Marcel Marceau's famous mime character
Let's see, pasty-white face, thin, weak-looking...yup, a necromancer.

Bip, the Mime Necromancer
Major restriction: Bip is a mime, so no interaction with NPCs. Maybe they do the talking, but my theme counts any interaction as a conversation. So no shopping, gambling, repairs, merc, imbue, +resists, etc. To finish the game I will be forced to break my rule. I must talk with Warriv (caravan), Jehryn (palace), Meshif (ship), and Tyreal (A5 portal).

This theme will cost me dearly in terms of completing quests and waypoints. No rescuing Cain or Anya, so no Nihlathak portal, etc. This will make my mime a collector of useless artifacts - scrolls, hammers, statues, and such. I will count many quests completed upon finding the artifact, just not delivering it. (Maybe I can make up for lost points here with a decent thematic grade :uhhuh: ).

No skill restrictions, as I think I've done enough to make this a challenging character. I've done an overlord before, so will go with a bonemancer (black and white theme) with golem and revives for tanks. I will consider using poison nova if I cannot make progress in Hell (green doesn't really fit the theme).

Bip has no need for gold, so will carry none. He must find ID/tele scrolls, and tomes in the barracks (I predict ID scroll runs...). He will only wear cloth armor, black where possible - caps will simulate the bowler hat. Can carry black or white weapons, and only necro heads or bone-type shields.

From the page linked above: "Marceau's character Bip would become so closely connected with the artist as to be called his alter-ego." I think my playing an alter-ego is also quite thematic. :D
-------------------------------------------------------
This is shaping up to be a good tourney 👍
AE, I think that it's not really talking when you're telling them to send you on your way. I bet it's a lot easier to mime, "Let me on your boat so we can sail" than it is to mime, "Here Hratli, let me sell you this Ethereal Herald of Zakarum that I recieved after slaying the monster named Mephisto." 👍 I personally can't think of any reason that Samus would talk to the people in charge of inter-act transportation, which hurts the theme, but only a small amount (I guess this part will have to be like Fusion, where they keep you out of areas until you have fulfilled whatever requirements there are in your current zone. I still don't like it).
"Flesh. Bone. Bound together with the oddest magickal incantation. This wretched book is where is all began, so long ago. I am Dr. Edward Roivas. I am a clinical psychologist. I am also dead."

My build will be inspired by the GameCube game "Eternal Darkness: Sanity's requiem". The greater forces in the plot are driven by Ancients who exist beyond human perception, although their power does get used on occasion. Each ancient is aligned with some theme and colour. There is Cha'turrgha (raw power, red), Ulyaoth (intellect, blue), Xel'lotath (insanity, green) and Mantorok (keeper of the ancients, the corpse god, purple).

Build
Name: Edward_Roivas
Class: Necromancer
Skills:
Curses:
11 Amplify Damage
1 Dim Vision
20 Confuse

Summoning:
1 Raise Skeleton
20 Skeleton Mastery
1 Raise Skeletal Mage
20 Revives
Maybe:
1 Clay Golem
1 Golem Mastery
1 Summon Resist

Poison and Bone:
1 Teeth
13 Corpse Explosion

Explanation:
Confuse should be obvious, since Xel'lotath is the ancient of insanity. Amplify Damage from Cha'turrgha, Corpse Explosion from Mantorok, Summoning from Ulyaoth (this one's a bit of a stretch, all the ancients have their own zombies, which the characters (Edward included) could summon).

Restrictions:
Must not use any items unless connected with the ancients (i.e. gemmed so that it is red, green, blue or purple). This includes the starting wand.

Eternal Darkness has a bit of a rock-paper-scissors thing going with the ancients. Cha'turrgha > Ulyaoth > Xel'lotath > Cha'turrgha. Mantorok is an exception, sometimes always beating, sometimes always beaten by the ancients.
An item may only be replaced if replaced by something that would 'defeat' it. (i.e. a ruby gemmed wand must be replaced by as sapphire gemmed wand). (Mantorok's (purple) gear can replace and be replaced by anything).

No Mercenary. I'll just kill off the ones I get from quests (not that they need much help dying).

Must always carry the Tome of Eternal Darkness on his person if possible (i.e. always carrying at least one kind of book. Once I get past Radamant, I'll restrict this further to "Always carry a unique book" (i.e. Tome of Skill, Lam Esen's(sp?) Tome). This means I won't be able to get a full clear on act 3 quests until act 2 NM).

Cannot use any skills apart from normal attack and throw until acquiring a tome. (Characters in eternal darkess can't cast spells without the tome).

No non-revived summons (skellies/golems don't seem to fit the theme).

On gear: I'll be stashing anything good I find, never muling off. Any and all items on my d2s file when I die will be donated to the prize pool.

Can't wait to start!

Comments on the other builds:
To the vampire one, the Nosferatu are a vampire family in Vampire: The Masquerade.
To the Samus one, the seeking beam was the wave beam in prime, and the charged light beam in echoes. I don't think seeking weapons were in any other Metroid games. Any thoughts on how to do powerbombs?

This (tournament) should be good.

I'm currently playing a HC Berzerker with WarCry as crowd control. If you want to play without a shield (like I do) you need a way to keep monsters from hiting you. My build looks like Berzerk 20, WarCry 20, BO 20, Howl 20 (because I cannot place skill points into the masteries tab, I use Howl as a synergy for both Berzek and WarCry). The normal playstyle against melee monsters is: WarCry to Stun and then kill them. Ranged attackers get Taunted and then stunned.
But be carefull. WarCry requires a lot of mana. The best compromise is to pump WarCry to stun for 5 seconds. That is level 20 (+1 from Battle Command) and costs 30 mana per cast. I currently have ~500 mana and need to trink a blue pot from time to time.
Going 2-handed gives you insane damage. I'm currently running around with .9k-4.6k, 6.2k AR and 2.3k life at level 70. But going without a shield has its disadvantages: Don't even think to Berzerk while there are un-Taunted ranged attackers on the screen or un-stunned melee monsters in attack range.

And don't forget to check out Nightfish's Berzerker guide here

On gear: I'll be stashing anything good I find, never muling off. Any and all items on my d2s file when I die will be donated to the prize pool.
While the ultimate decision is Horobi's, many people on this forum do not loot dead HC bodies with ATMA and would not accept any items obtained in such a way in a prize stash.

It looks like everyone else is reposting their builds from the other thread, so I will as well to keep things easier to keep track of.
----------------------------------------------------

So, introducing Gabrielle, the staff wielding Amazon! I'll be going the Tankazon/Valkazon route with her. (Okay, I'll admit it, I have a thing for that P&M tree. )

*******************************
Name: Gabrielle
Theme: Xena: Warrior Princess
Build: Staff Wielding Tankazon (Max Valk and Decoy, rest in other Passives)
*******************************

So, now for the rules, restrictions, and justifications.

The Valk gets to be cast a Xena, which makes sense as the Valk will definately be stronger than Gabrielle. A spear is the wrong weapon for her, but then again, Xena was good with any weapon available to her, so I'm okay with the spear. The mercenary is a little harder. I could just go without, but what is the fun in that? I'll be going with "Joxer" the fire mage: someone who carries a sword, but doesn't know how to use it, and tends to cause chaos (in this case in the form of exploding fireballs and setting things on fire with infeno. It's certainly not like he will kill anything with them...)

She is restricted to staves for weapons and cloth and leather armor, except for the helm, which will be circlet type. Yes, this means all armor including boots, gloves, and belts. Jewelry is unrestricted. She may not use a non-staff weapon/shield on switch to prebuff the Valk.

I agree with Cattleya on this one. No muling of dead characters, if this means you won't be able to send in anything then so be it. In my opinion dead HC characters should not be tempered with in any way, it would completely defeat the purpose of HC playing.
--------------
For those who'd like to get started, it's now Friday 10:32 AM. I think I'll have the Multipliers' distrubuted around 15:00 this afternoon, wich is about 4 hours and 30 minutes from now. Just to let you know how long it'll take.
--------------

BTW: corax, did you get my PM?
you got a PM Horobi.

also letting you know i'm still in this tourney :D

and we start once you get the multipliers done?
Well, since everyone is eager to start with this tourney and I can't seem to find a reason to stop you, yes corax, you can start with the tourney when I have posted the multipliers.

Corax, you've got mail. x2

OK, I understand. First HC build, first SP Tourney, etc etc. A simple misinterpretation of this line in the opening post:

"-When your character dies I'd like some good items found by the character send to me to become part of the prize stash."

Change of plan then: After each session (assuming I live), I'll be chucking all my worthwile finds (i.e. set/uniques) into an ATMA vault. I'll just forward the lot onto Horobi when I cark it.

Also, at work today I discovered an error in my earlier post:
I had listed Cha'turrgha > Ulyaoth > Xel'lotath > Cha'turrgha. This is in error. It's meant to be Cha'turrgha < Ulyaoth < Xel'lotath < Cha'turrgha. Look at the themes and you'll see that this makes sense (intellect defeats raw power, insanity defeats intellect, raw power defeats insanity). So items will be cycling Red->Blue->Green->Red (With Mantorok (Purple) still as a wildcard).

To further clarify on this restriction: all that is necessary is that the colour of the item be set to be red/green/blue/purple. After that, doesn't matter what gets put in the remaining sockets. I noticed an interesting additional restriction, that I didn't plan:
Must not use any items unless connected with the ancients (i.e. gemmed so that it is red, green, blue or purple). This includes the starting wand.

This has the additional effect of disallowing charms, rings, amulets, boots, gloves and belts. Note that potions are already red/blue/purple (well, the important ones anyway), and so I'm going to allow them to prevent myself from going insane, along with town portal scrolls (blue) and identify scrolls (red).

A clarification on the tome: basically I won't be casting anything until I can afford a book from Akara, or can find one somewhere.

So, yeah. Let's get our multipliers!
#endgame: Simple mistake, mistakes happen. So no hard feelings. And as soon as I get my mail back from corax you'll get your multipliers....
Ready, set............GO!

The multipliers take a little longer then expected, but don't let that stop you. As far as I'm conserned you can start playing anytime you like now since everyone seemed eager to get started. The multipliers for the people who have already signed in will be posted as soon as possible.

As for the updates, in any update I'd like at least the following:
-the amount of points before multiplied with the multiplier
-the amount of points multiplied with the multiplier
-your progress (last quest/waypoint)

The rest is up to you. Good luck to all and me the best person win........
Gogo folks! last one to guardian is teh suxx0r!
Neo is now lvl 5 and has got 2 points (den of evil and cold plains WP)
so that means im top of the leaderborad, and thats where im predicting i'll end up. :p
I am so in on this.

Name: Van Helsing
Theme: yeah..Van Helsing

Vampire hunting Paladin

Unsure of skills yet, but I plan on using a big honking crossbow.

Obviosuly the holy skills will be used. For the aura, Fanat is the obvious choice, and for killing skills, zeal (if it works with bows?) and holy bolt would be more in theme than FoH (he only attacks the undead, if you dont count Mr. hyde at the beginning). Then add synergies, and a bit of vigor/defiance.
I honestly don't know jack about Paladins but I'm pretty sure that Zeal is not a poor man's Strafe on ranged weapons. Paladins aren't designed for ranged fighting, just be glad you can equip bows (stupid WoW, where you can't even throw knives or shoot stuff as a Paladin), just like Amazons have little place in melee (Fend does NOT count in my book, much less Jab or Impale). I've decided to add a No Melee restriction to Samus which will make it that much harder (I wonder what I'll do if I run out of javelins before I get my hands on a ranged weapon).
Glad to know we can start the toury. I'll begin right away. Is there anyway we could get one of those tables up that show everyones progress? That would be super helpful. I would if I knew how.

Progress is slow, but I've punched my way to level 6 and the cold plains. None of the important (to me) gems have dropped (see earlier post on page 3).

I'd say don't count the rogue encampment WP, it's just more free points for those playing a harder restriction set.

Theme: Shiba Kukaku is a fireworks specialist in the anime, therefore she shall specialize in various traps.
Class: Assassin
Rules: Only cloth armor may be worn. No head gear except circlets, coronets, and tiaras. (Matches her usual outfit)

I just finished the countess. I currently have six points. I've decided not to hotkey coba strike. It makes the game easier than I want it. Having no merc is different but I'm managing. Katars have crap damage so I might have to use my gems. I already have a jewel of envy in a 2 socketed ring mail. I also have 11 more psn dmg from charms. Both katars have 2 sockets so I'm hoping for some chipped topazes. I'll probably be doing countess runs to get some tir and ith runes for now.

I found Hsarus' Iron Fist. It is for trade if anybody wants it.
I thought the start was Saturday May 14?

I forgot about how much mana war cry uses... I guess I could try just howling... but that would be very risky. I do use taunt allot...(sweet skill)
I was hoping to go for a one hit kill type of build so thinking I may go the just howl way, not sure though.

Yah, I have read all the guides just wanted to ask someone in person. Thanks for the help!

Just updating my build listing in the table.

Oh, Slothman, if you want to go with Dracula's wife, I can't off the top of my head remember his three original brides, but Mina Harker was becoming the fourth in Bram Stoker's book.
Isildur started by clearing the blood moor learning his enemies every move and there strength by the time that was done he was strong enough to go into the "den of evil" so the elves called it, they were to busy singing around the camp fire to get involved so they made a good excuse that Isildur clear it out and tell them about it in the evening. The den of evil dropped a jewel which Isildur promptly bought a 2 socketed helm and socketed. 10 enh. dmg. 20 to poison jewel. After the den no other good finds. But By the time he was done he finally got his first sword. 3 socketed with 10 enh. dmg. which got 2 chipped topazes and emerald. That weapon lasted him clearing all the way to the countess. By this time he was already doing 60-100 dmg. Isildur new that he may need a faster weapon than the high dmg weapon so he ran the countess, and made a steel 2 handed sword. The dmg wasn't quite as good but he likes the speed so he cleared all up to the Inner Cloister. Did a couple Bone ash runs made it to lvl 17 then made the Tal Eth armor...

That is about it so far, I have never found such a sweet jewel so early in the game. Makes p8 easy.

WayPoints collected: 8
Quests completed: 4
Points total: 12
Not sure what to do for the imbue yet. The only "bad" item I have is my gloves so will probably imbue some. I will be able to complete Act one later
today, gonna be looking for Bloodfist gloves for awhile today.

argh.... that didn't work...Could someone just put me in because I don't know what happened, normally don't have any problems...

Awesome, a decent name for vlad's bride 👍 thanks goltar!
Thanks to the interest Horobi has decided to let people start playing. If I misread and he didn't, I live in Guam, where it is May 14, until the tourney starts in Colorado .

So, are AlterEgo and I allowed to count completing the "world" part of the quest (i.e. finding the Malus, killing Blood Raven) as a quest completion? I only ask because...Samus has begun her adventure.

Page 1: The travels of Samus Aran
While exploring the Ancient Monastery (more on that later) I have discovered two very powerful books. One, colored red on the cover, is capable of revealing an item's latent powers to me, enabling its use. The other, and the one I am writing this in, is a tome capable of opening rifts leading back to the camp where I found myself many nights ago.

Ahh, yes. The camp. When I found myself there I knew not what to make of it. Without my power suit I experienced things that I had not felt in a long time. During the flight from Zebes, it is clear that my ship and equipment where taken from me by the Space Pirates, controlled by Ridley. In the quite plausible event that I should die here, it is imperative that this world, and its inhabitants, are not forgotten. I know little of the demonic powers here...only what I have witnessed.

Upon arriving in the camp, I looked around. The villagers stared, believing that, maybe, I had come to help them. Looking toward a wall built in the shape of a corner, I saw a pile of what I believed were worthless artifacts. Now it appears that they were a huge portion of the camp's belongings. I searched the rubble, pulling out a stack of javelins, a rounded, dented metal disk, four small flasks containing red liquid, and two pieces of paper, each wrapped in a different color ribbon. As I took them, the villagers faces turned from weariness, desperation, and sadness, to hope and anticipation.

Immediately I was certain that the evil here would not subit to modern technology. The danger presented amazes me as I write this. Within moments the javelins were spent and I ran on a desperate search for more. Ultimately the chests yielded a bow and arrows, which I quickly discovered how to use. I am attempting to learn how I would be able to adjust these weapons to closer resemble the technology used to defeat the Metroids and Pirates. If I am successful then I believe my chances of escaping this world will increase dramatically.

Within a small cave I discovered hulking brutes and small imps which were constantly ressurrected by a larger imp. I also discovered a graveyard where a sickly bowyer raised fallen corpses in an attempt to slay me. The red potions restore my injuries, while the blue have no currently discernable use. They may hold the key, however, to the use of skills mimicking the Ice Beam and other weapons I used in the Power Suit.

Lastly, I am incapable of communicating with the camp's inhabitants. Even if I was, I am unsure of whether or not I would choose to. I fear they would spread the sorrow, fear, and insecurity they convey through their expressions to me.

Samus out.

If these get too laborious I will stop writing them but I thought that was pretty fun for now.

3 points, if quests "completed" but not "turned in" count. Otherwise there's just one point (unweighted of course).
Not laborious for me! Its a great enhancement to the theme part of the thourney 👍
Slothman, I found a little something that may give you a few more ideas for your build.

http://www.literature.org/authors/stoker-bram/dracula/index.html

This site has what appears to be the entire book online. I just found it, and haven't checked through, (and haven't read the book since I was 12 or 13), but the first chapter looks right, and it's one of the first few chapters that would have the names of the first three.
:worship: more thanks your way goltar!

I'll have a read over the next few days and hope that it enhances my theme 👍
Do we get points for the town wps?

I should have 8 points not 6. didn't count marsh wp or countess.

I added atigdng and Jicama. Couldn't get the chart to look right though.
I don't think I'll be using
Code:
tags because I can't do anything without totally messing them up. So thanks in advance to whomever ends up adding my points to the table.

I'm glad you like it Slothman. The only trick is...that took me as long to write as it took me to play that, so I'll keep doing it as long as it's worth the effort. The good news is that from here on out, I don't have to do as much "contextualizing" from Samus' perspective (having her explain the things we as DII players already recognize) which should cut some of it out.
Bip is on his way - and going at P8 for as long as practical. He's cleared the Dark Woods and rests at lvl14. So far he's been a meleemancer using socketed scepters. He's only broken a half-dozen items so far. It's really a challenge to not click the NPCs - habits die hard!

As I suspected, the pacing item will be ID scrolls. I can't find enough to ID all of the jewelry and charms. Keeping gear black isn't too hard, just plug a skull or diamond in first and viola. That rule will result in very low MF% too. So far I've put single points into pre-reqs & curses - I better review the Bonemancer guides to see how this guy should be built. :D

Three WPs gained (not counting town), and one useless scroll collected (Inifuss). I await a decision on JicamaEaters question on quest completion for "silent characters", but for now I'll say two (can't rescue Cain). Total points = 5.

I too cannot master the "code" thing. I think it is browser/OS specific. I can read and understand the instructions, but cannot get it to work. :bonk:
I'm about to start playing Storm. Will be going at /players5.

I think it should be made clear whether or not the WPs in town should be counted as points or not, before there's too much confusion...that and the "silent character" quest thing for those two crazies doing that. Also, will certain quests count as completed if I avoid talking to an NPC who'll try to give me a free mercenary? (i.e. ignoring Kaysha after killing Blood Raven) I don't enjoy trying to kill off mercenaries in HC...don't need too much more risk than necessary. Besides, it'd be quite out of character.

Another question...do the NPCs who sell out mercenaries in Acts II-V still give out free mercenaries after certain quests are completed. I remember Acts II and III did in classic, and I don't remember if Qual-Kehk gave you a free barb or not (in addition to runes) after finishing the barb-rescuing quest. It's been too long since I've played without mercenaries.

Now i just gotta re-read my restrictions before heading out....

Edit: One problem I see with the table is that another column will need to be added for "Points after Multiplier"--once we get our multipliers, that is.

Interesting idea about Code.

You actually can rescue Cain. Akara does not need to translate the scroll for you to be able to use it (unless I hit some weird bug or something that one time). So the following tactic works as far as I know:
You hold the scroll under any circumstance and click the stones in any order until they are all lit
And if you aren't holding the scroll, even if you put it down in the ring and your character could read it from anywhere in the circle, and you memorized the order, the game will not let you complete the portal
After entering the portal you can clear Tristram then open Cain's cage. But you still can't talk to him 👍 .

Unless you make it to Act V Hell you will not be substantially dependent upon curses. Because of the way Gloams and Slingers work at that point in the game you need Crowd Control that isn't Bone Prisons for them. Other than that it's easy sailing unless you happen to meet a Magic Immune monster earlier in Bip's travels (and it's possible, Mana Burn zombies in Lost City are even in Normal). Because there are only a few Magic Immune monsters you can nearly always count on CE to handle them unless you don't have much radius on it. If I'd been even a tiny bit smarter in building my Bonemancer I could have easily made it Hardcore (wait, barring the FECELE swarm I met in the Maggot Lair), and had a much easier time killing everything. High spear/spirit damage is good, but having CE for the group and MI killer makes it all even better.

Not talking to townsfolk is tough for me too. It's only a little easier because Samus hasn't been in town since she left 30 seconds after I created her. I'm sure there's some 'real' use for the Tome of Town Portal (barring Wirt's Leg) but right now it's a repository for Samus' thoughts and experiences. The most exciting part was when she was running around, at level 3, for fifteen minutes popping chests in Cold Plains and Stony Field looking for a bow to use. I had drained 117 javelins already by that point in the game.

Good luck, have fun and don't die!
I think I made a big mistake when making my character. She is rune dependent. All those lovely mana properties I'll need to survive will be coming from runes. I'll need lots of them because I can't count on sets or uniques to give them to me. I will also need socketed equip. I can see myself wearing a chainmal socketed with ith runes when I take on diablo. I am in for hard times.

There are also some things I need clarified. Does %dmg taken goes to mana apply to elemental damage? Is there a cap to %damage taken? How much extra mana regen do I need to regen 1 mana per second? How exactly does weapon block work when I'm running/attacking/standing still?

Any of these answers would be a big help to me.

EDIt: I have no problem adding others points to the chart. I'll do so when I do my own.
LordMay said:

This all depends on how much your maximum mana is. The more mana you have, the more mana you regenerate each second. I'll see if I can dig up the formula for this....
Without any other +mana regen, your mana orb will go to full after 120 seconds. So if you have 120 mana that's 1 mana per second. If, with warmth, you have +300% Mana Regen then you'd only need 30 mana to get 1 mana per second regen.

I made it to the catherdral but I decided to stop. I don't want to play her too much too early. During my countess runs she dropped me a tal. I might make stealth armor but I want to wait until act2. I'm now up to 12 points.

I added you AE. Is there some trick to keeping the words lined up. I was fiddling with it for 5 mins.
Vildecor said:
Actually, now AE is listed twice. Once with points, and once with a '?'
Thanks for pointing that out. I must be getting tired. It is a good thing I stopped playing. The mana regen info was helpful.
I am probably finished for the day, Isildur completed act 1 along with all its quests. I didn't find any bloodfist yet, but haven't had the time to run andy.

Isildur: lvl 18
Quests completed: 6
WP gathered: 9
points total 15

skill points to any interested:
Bash1...Leap1...Leap Attack1...Stun1...Concentrate 1 (Combat skills)
Howl1...Taunt1...Shout1...Battle Cry1 (War Cries)
Sword Mastery8...Increased Stamina1 (Combat Masteries)
Ahh...what comedy. Allow me to tell you about the first death in this tournament. Storm, a level 8 Sorceress, just died trying to kill Blood Raven using only lvl 1 Charged Bolts on /players5. Therein lay the fundamental flaw I'd missed in my themed build. I hadn't allowed myself a strong enough attack to use in the early game. I could only use lvl 1 charged bolts or punch (since I disallowed weapons) until I got lightning at lvl 12.

This normally wasn't so much dangerous as it was time consuming and mana potion consuming. It probably didn't help that I'd only put 5 points in vitality. I'd put points in energy for more mana (so i'd spend less of a fortune on pots) and in strength to wear studded leather (needed as much defense as possible). Had Blood Raven down to 1/3 life when she successfully critical hit me 3 times in a row. drank a rejuv after the first time, drank a red after the second hit, third killed me.

I will keep competing, though I'll probably try to think of a different themed build.

So,
Name: Vildecor
Character: Sorceress, RIP
Theme: X-men
Points before multiplier: 2
Points after multiplier: 2 x ?

Edit:
I noticed no one's playing a Druid, so I decided on a theme build for a Fire Druid. Sticking with the X-men, I'll be playing as Pyro. He'll only use the Druid's fire elemental skills, with no points spent elsewhere (not even Oak Sage, sigh). Fortunately, he'll be accompanied by his buddy Iceman, in the form of an Act III Cold Iron Wolf (more realistic than a Holy Freeze Desert Wolf).

I'll keep the same basic gear restrictions as I had for Storm (leather armors, any belt, rings, and amulet, no shield), with the exception that Pyro will get a weapon...though not much of one. Pyro can only manipulate fire, he cannot create it. Therefore, he cannot use any of his fire skills unless he is equipped with a torch, which I'll signify with any necromancer wand dealing fire damage (one socketed with a ruby will work just fine). He can smack foes with the torch if he feels like it, but he cannot equip any other kind of weapon, and cannot use any mercenary except an Act III cold merc.

Ouch, that's tough. I've recently had a sorc who had to punch her way to level 11 (to be able to gamble a scythe) and I know how much work it is. I don't know that I could have done it without a merc. Good luck with Pyro!

About the code thing. The easiest way that I have found it to use a text editor set to a fixed width font (like courier) to line it up, and then copy-paste it into the reply box with the code tags. (This was also recommended in the Rare Pleasure tourney, so I know I'm not the only one that does it this way.) For the tourneys that I am hosting I just keep a text file and update it whenever people post.

However, are we sure that we want each player updating the table every time they update their character? This starts to make the thread difficult to read, and can get chaotic as there will always be some people who have trouble using the code tags. I think it is easier to have one person keeping track and posting updates periodically. It's Horobi's tourney, so I'll go along with whatever he wants, but I just wanted to get my opinion out there.

No character update for me. I probably won't be able to play any D2 until next weekend. Good luck everyone!
First, sorry to hear about your death Vildecor, I hope you've got better luck next time.

As for the the Town WP's, yes, town WP's do count for your score.

To everyone who doesn't talk to the townsfolk, when you return to the village after 'completing' the quest, you may get points for the quest. Otherwise it would be nearly impossible for you to win.

Oh, and there's no need for everyone to keep posting the code part, I think I'll post it fully updated once every week or so. I hope this will stop people fighting longer with their post then they do with demons and undead :p .

I hope I answered most questions concerning the Tourney, if not, ask them.

Last but not least, good luck everybody, you're going to need it. I'm starting my new amazon now :p .

And don't forget, the most important thing is to HAVE FUN!
Ive got the whole day to play, so as long as i dont die, i'm hoping to be near the top of the leaderboard. I think i now understand kicking and charging (the guides make it sound really complicated, but once i started playing, i found that it was rather easy to build up the charges and kick the hell out something.
As the updating the table, i think if someone can update there scroe as they post it that wiould help alot, since its always good to know exactly where everyone is. If someone has trouble, just post the relevent info and ask someone to update it for them.
Well, that was fun.
Died at level 15 to a boss carver shaman (I don't know where that amp damage came from, he was extra strong, not cursed, I swear!).

Shame, never even got to put confuse to the test.

Waypoints:
Rogue camp
Cold Plains
Stony Field

Quests:
Den of evil
Sisters' burial grounds

Total score: 5.
Total finds: 0.

Next up: A tankazon (in a more literal sense of the word than usual).

Always wear the heaviest class of armor available.

Always walk. This includes stopping waypoint travel. I'll use town portals to avoid going insane.

Always use a crossbow (cannon!)

The usual fun rules: no merc, no minions.

Name: Tank.

Skills:
Immolation arrow (cannon!)
Strafe (gun turret?)
Freezing arrow (poorly justified stretch)
and probably a bit of pierce.
Inner sight too (targeting?)
I'll use prereq skills before I get these to preserve sanity.

Assuming I find something this time, I'll pass it along to the prize pool as before. Anticipating Duriel will be a huge problem.
Well, Shiba Kukaku is level 15 now. She found a nice Pelta Luna off Corpsefire and a nice Katar with Amplify Damage proc. Currently running countess to see if I can dig up runes for Stealth and Steel. Put 5 levels into Fire Bomb, fun stuff.
Things are going slightly better for me this time. I've been able to go p8 all the way so far, and have turned up a Pelta Lunata, and a Death's Guard. The Pelta has been stashed for a prize, as will the Death's Guard once I'm finished with it. I've decided that a tank should also have the chunkiest metal helmets as well as chunky metal armor. Walking is driving me nuts, I think I'll walk (run is hardly an appropriate term here :() countess and try for a stealth armor, though I know I'll have to chuck it pretty soon after, since I'll find something heavier.

I'm done for the night.

Quests:
Den of evil
Sisters' burial grounds

Waypoints:
Rogue encampment
Cold plains
Stony field
loss of Gorath

well, as the title says:

Gorath died in a heroic attempt of killing the evil countess... :(

(im starting up fast again... same ideas, but a BIG change of points distribution...)

Note: These are posts #81-100 from the original thread.

I'm sad to see so many deaths this early on. Atleast you can keep restarting. Do you guys know what players setting you were on. I decided players 8 was TOO hard. My assa is so weak(and will probably stay that way) so I've decided to go players 1 the whole way.
i was players 8 aswell, but it was do able
it was my own fault, i kept pressing 1, while healing pots were long gone there :teeth:
I was player 8.

My Assassin just died though, descended into the Countess's tower and immediately was surrounded by extra strong Ghosts. =\

No more Shiba Kukaku.
Wow, not even the end of day 1, and we have several deaths so far. I'm sure once characters get through the early stages, we will see less "deeds" tales being told. I remember back to FB's Zod tourney, and punching my way through to Tristam :). I will not be able to begin Thorin's adventures until tomorrow, as I'm visiting the folks this weekend. Looking forward to getting him started 👏 .

GL to all participants!

New entry: The Drummer

Announcing a new character, as I've decided to join the tourney.

He is a Barb who must dual-wield matched weapons and can only use the following blunt objects: wand (any), scepter (any), club (cudgel, truncheon), and War hammer (and the exceptional and elite versions). He may not use a spiked mace, a flanged mace, a flail, a jagged star or any weapon with an edge. He may not use a two-handed weapon or a shield.

Weapons must be matched, so he looks like a drummer: a bone wand can be dual wielded with a grim wand but not with a club or scepter.

He may dual-wield one-handed hammers - at this point he becomes a xylophonist.

Drummers are known to be vocalists, so he will be allowed to sing, i.e., use war crys. But he must look like a drummer when he fights, so the only Combat Tree Skills he may use are Bash (like he is playing the cymbals), Double Swing and Frenzy. Also Leap, I suppose. But no Beserk for PIs. Gulp!

During his first outing he may wield a single club-but no shield -until he has the funds to buy a 2nd club. This is his tune-up period, a courtesy commonly extended to musicians.

One other restriction: No gloves.
Pyro has rescued Deckard Cain. I'll be playing him at /players1, more comfortable for me as I'm more used to that setting. Less experience, less hazardous, but he'll have to run some areas before tackling harder tasks. A refinement on his skill point placement. I just noticed that in order to get Armageddon, you must have points in all the non-fire elemental skills, so one point for each of these is okay, these skills just cannot be used.

Pyro had to punch his way through the Blood Moor, the Den of Evil, the Cold Plains, and most of the Cave until he finally found a chipped ruby in the 2nd level of the Cave. He already had a socketed wand ready, and he finally got to use Firestorm, which was at level 5. Things became much, much easier from then on. The baddies are dying quite quickly to his fire attacks. Griswold took 2 Molten Boulders and bit the dust.

1 item has been stashed in the prize mule--Cleglaw's Claw. Skill points so far are: Firestorm-5, Molten Boulder-5, Arctic Blast-1 prereq point

So, in update form:
Vildecor, playing as Pyro (a Druid) from the X-men
Points: 7 (4 WPs, 3 quests...though he's still ignoring Kashya :) )
ooo we've started. must play later. :D

you got mail Horobi
Multipliers

Thank you corax.

For those whose build isn't evaluated yet. Or those who've died and started a new build, your multiplier will be up ASAP. For the others here are your multipliers:

Reid Flemming: x1.6
Very hard without a weapon + shield or an armor for that matter. Although I have no experience with barbs so far, I don't think this build will see nightmare (I'd be mighty impressed if it did).

corax: x1.4
This build looks more viable then the one of Flemming, but if I'm correct, the leap skills aren't the most powerfull skills. But for this build goes the same as for Flemming's one, I've never played a barb.....

XDoomasX: x0.8
A plain berserker, should be viable, even in hell.

Cattleya: x1.2
If I'm correct, Tankazons are quite capable characters in comparison to other builds in this tourney (I'll find out later this tourney wether that is true). But this zon will be using a staff so no defence and the other reguations don't make this character any easier.

Sint Nikolaas: x1.4
A not to easy character to play with. Because of no aura back-up and the fact that it is quite hard to combine the skills. I think the start of this chara will be doable but that he will get into trouble at the end.

LordMay: x1.2
Seems like a viable character, I have one question though, why SW, and not SM. The second seems more powerfull. And the bow as back-up seems nice but not too powerfull.

Goltar25: x1.2
Not to much skill restrictions, but without any kind of assistence (no merc or summons), it could get quite nasty later on. And because of no weapon use the killing speed won't be very high.

AlterEgo:x1.4
Quite a viable build, but with a lot of restrictions. But because he'll have a good tank I think he can get quite far.

farting bob: x1.2
The character seems quite viable, but not very much information given. FB, if you could give a rough idea of the skill-point placement, then the multiplier might change.

JicamaEater: x1.6
No really powerfull attack (lack of synergies). But a lot of different elemental damage. I think you might make it past nightmare but Hell will be Hell. Especially without any kind of tank/merc. And the same comment as with AE, no comunicating with townsfolk means no-repair and little quest rewards.

Amidala: x1.4
No really strong attack (nothing maxed), and little synergies make this build hard. I wish you good luck with this character sis.

Vildecor: x1.2
Maxxed blizzard makes a powerfull skill. I think this build is capable in progressing trough hell altough it won't be easy.

poopie_pants: x1.0
Concentrate Barb is quite viable if I'm correct. And with little restrictions I think this build has the potential to progress the furthest.

water_moon: x?.?
You haven't specified any skills (except Valkyrie). And I can't seem to find the post you made for your char in the first thread (if you made such a post). So would you please be so kind to post some skill-placement (again, if placed before). Thanks a lot.

atigdng: x0.8
Same as XDoomasX

#endgame:x1.0
Looks very viable, you might get into trouble early on because of lack of skills. But when you get 3 or more revives I'd say you should be save. Another problem that you probably will come across are bossfight wich last longer then 30 seconds wich would instantly kill your revives.

Horobi: x1.2
Almost same build as Cattleya, so same multiplier, but it is up to corax to decide that. (Corax agreed)

Slothman: x1.2
Another Tankazon, same as myself and Cattleya

----------------------------------------
Multipliers are not up for discussion, I've given them and they had a second opinion by corax (thanks for that). So they stay as they are, if you don't agree, sign out. (Sorry if I sound harsh, but I'd like this clear)

I hope everyone is still having fun. And for those who've died, your deeds of valor will be remembered, and you will be avenged :p . Have fun

~Horobi
0 points x 1.0 multiplier still = 0 points

man, i can't wait to start :(

Ok, the complete build.
20 TS
20 DT (kicking the poop out of people is his specialty)
20 MB (can move stuff in the matrix)
20 SM (trinity)
10 BoS (closest i could get to bullet time. moves quickly though!)
5 weapon block (can see where someone will attack, and block it)
4 prereqs
total: 99 points.
And a might merc (morpheus)
No fade, no elemental damage added from charms or jewels, but may be used if it is inherent on the item. Must fight baal without morpheus or trinity, like him fighting agent smith on his own.
will you be using cloak of shadows?

No, i wont be actually using any prereqs. (except the passive ones i cant help like claw mastery)

ok then. still a 1.2 from me :D

You would say that, you got a 1.4 :p
Anyway, a leap barb isnt that hard. you use any war cry leap attack does some good +ED. about the only major restriction is white swords.
I'd give it a 1.3

I chose SW because it will represent another zealot. I want her to be as similar to me as possible. I can control a SW skills so that was the big factor in my decision.
I'm going to join this tourney if it isnt too late.

Name: Atlas (The greek titan who holds the earth)

Build: Titan Berzerker

Skills:

20 Berzerk (Of course)
20 Howl (Synergy to Berzerk)
20 Battle Orders
20 Warcry

Unsure of what I will be putting the others into. Dont want to lock down to a weapon because of the fact that any good high damage weapon is what I want.

Restrictions:

Titan build. 👍
Two handed weapon only.
@Horobi: if severoth is in i'd give him a 1.0 to a 1.2

Springer is currently adventuring in the underground passage at lvl 12.
his rogue merc (Arcee) will be his companion for the whole game, same as the movie.
Only 1.2 for a pure titan barb? As in no points into anything but strength? On hardcore at that using zerk as a main attack?

:(

Atlas ate a champion goat pack in the Countess Tower though and has gone to the heavens. His deeds will be remembered.
TheDrummer is at clvl 14 and has rescued Cain and made it to the Black Marsh WP. 5 WPs and 3 quests. Not sure of the algorithm - how many points is that?

For evaluating my Drummer build, here are the full set of skills and restrictions:

Mace Mastery:20
Bash: 20
Double Swing: 10 ?
BO: 20
Shout: 5+; Natural Res: 2-5

Restrictions: Must dual-wield blunt weapons. Only the following weapons and their exceptional and elite versions are allowed: Wands (all), Scepters (all), Clubs, War Hammers. NO shields, two-handed weapons or one-handed weapons with an edge (spiked club and flanged mace are not allowed.)

Must use matching weapons at any given time. Cannot dual wield a wand and a scepter, or a club and a war hammer. Two wands, is allowable as is two scepters, etc.

Only Combat Skills that can be used are Double Swing and Bash, simulating actions of a drummer, and possibly Leap (not planned, though.) NO Beserk Concentrate, WW, Frenzy, etc. All Mastery and War Cries are allowed except for the skill called War Cry.

Only one restriction on equipment which is: No gloves, must play bare-handed. No restrictions on choice of Merc.
The tank feels too much like that other person's Samus build, plus it's boring as anything to play.

I chucked all my set/uniques into another stash and self-deleted. RIP.
1x Pelta Lunata
1x Death's Guard
1x Hotspur
Sent to Horobi.

Since I really didn't like going slow, I'll go really fast instead. Sonic the Hedgehog theme! Blue items are the style of the day here, as is maxing FR/W on items over pretty much everything else.

So, the skills:
20 Sword Mastery
20 Whirlwind (Spin attack!)

Going really fast:
14 Increased Speed (Bah at diminishing returns. +40% is a good round number.)
20 Frenzy
6 Double Swing (0 mana cost, as a backup).

6 Prereqs.

This is going to be fun, if really really hard to control.

Horobi, You've got mail.

Note: These are posts #101-120 from the original thread.

Oh my goodness, I've never seen so many deaths so early in a contest. :( RIP to all of our fallen warriors, and best of luck with their replacements 👍

Quite a viable build, but with a lot of restrictions. But because he'll have a good tank I think he can get quite far.
Agreed. I hope to make a guardian out of this build :teeth:

You actually can rescue Cain. Akara does not need to translate the scroll for you to be able to use it (unless I hit some weird bug or something that one time). So the following tactic works as far as I know:
You hold the scroll under any circumstance and click the stones in any order until they are all lit
Nope, doesn't work. I can't get to Tristram or Cain. No problem though, I expected this to happen. I'll forgo the quest point as I had planned. I got a Nef from the Countess so put it into a 3os long bow (making it black) along with 2 chipped sapphires for my switch weapon - can't be too safe in HC.

Bip has moved smoothly to the Inner Cloister at lvl19 - no serious NDEs. He's finally learned Bone Spear, but the lack of points in synergies makes it pretty weak - I think it was important to get the golem, pre-reqs and curses right away. He is still meleeing his way through A1. Another couple weapons destroyed, and he's still in full character with all black, cloth items - he has three that are ethereal with self-repair! I found Death's Hand - very nice against Andariel - but won't wear it as it's red.

He found a TP tome and ID tome in the barracks/jail (took three runs) but still is having big problems finding ID scrolls. I've had to toss 15-20 unidentified rings/ammys on the ground because my stashes were full. On the upside, I can boast two of the more unusual items in my stash - the Scroll of Inifuss & the Horadric Malus. :uhhuh:

I've been thinking more about the build/character and have decided no poison nova, and I will use an iron golem when available, reinforcing the black and white theme. So far all stat points have gone into Str & Vit.

Bip, lvl19, 7 WPs, 4 quests = 11 x 1.4 = 15.4 points - about to go kick Andy's arse.

Good luck & stay alive!

The Arreat Summit is wrong here (so is the skill description in game.) You actually need to get to level 8 or 9 to reach 0 mana. I'm out of town so I don't have my notes right now, so I don't remember the exact level. However, even at level 6 it won't take much mana leach or regeneration to be able to use it continuously. I just thought I would give you a heads up.
Well this one looks like fun so I'm joining in. This with a palidan (charlie) CHARLIES IN THE TREES!!! ok not funny.. srry. He is The Sniper! not really :(

Name - Charlie
Character - Paldian

Skills:

20 Fanatiscm
20 Prayer
20 Conversion
20 Holy Fire (for immmune physical or stone skin)
1 Meditation (pointless to lose mana with prayer)
Rest in Resist Fire (synergy)

He is a crazy build that I chose that will be something interesting. I have never used Conversion before and I think that it will be a cool skill to use and hopefully it helps. Prayer so I can run around and get life without using potions and without a belt.

Couple "Hard" Restrictions:

- Can only use a Bow (nothing else but short sword at start)
- Cannot wear a belt
- Cannot use a Act 2 or 5 mercanary
If this one fails, I think I'll make another RoivasMancer, though I think x1.0 is a little harsh. I didn't find CE to be as awesome as I recall, even on players 1. A bug? I was hoping amp, ce, boom!
Name - Charlie
Character - Palidan
Build - FanatHolyFireConversionPrayeradin
Last WP - Black Marsh
Last Quest - Cain
Level - 14

Well Charlie is progressing smoothly and is now in the Black Marsh at level 14 and using a 3 socket lonmg bow with 3 chip rubies. Since I cannot use Act 2 or 5 mercs I am gonna keep an Act I merc over a Act III merc because of fanat when I am not using holy fire. Everything is going down pretty quick and a bow palidan is pretty fun. Duriel on NM I can tell right now is gonna be my HARDEST fight for sure (no belt/no tank).

Does the town WP's count as a point?
Name - Charlie
Character - Palidan
Build - FanatHolyFireConversionPrayeradin
Location - Act II Q-1
Level - 19

Time for a stop for the night at 3:40 A.M.

Charlie is still doing really good, finishing off Andariel at level 19 and moving on to Act II after finding all WP's and doing all quests. Killed Andariel easily after me and my merc using nadidotes and pots she couldnt hurt me too bad and I could tank for a while. Haven't had any NDE's yet and I want to get a new bow for me and my merc. I gambled all my money away in Act II for some rares and got no luck so I will have to try later. I can't wait to get fanatisc because it is so much faster. Gonna run countess for runes like stealth and zephyr.
new try with Gorath.
rules stay the same, but a big difference in skill points.

Skill
max dragon talon, maxed tiger strike, lvl 15 dragon wings , lvl 10 shadow mastery.
lvl 10 blade shield
lvl 10 blade fury...

(dunno at wich lvls tiger strike and dragon talon are maxed, but ill give it a try)
Sonic is doing pretty well, though my 'softcore' mentality has lead to multiple NDEs. Found a couple of items for the prize stash:

The Dragon Chang
Hsarus' Iron Fist

Nothing spectacular.

Now level 18, 7 waypoints (all up to Jail I) 5 quests (all actI except Andy).
Don't have the multipler for this char yet.

Disappointed at how poor blue gear looks on barbs. It hardly shows up!.
#endgame said:
Disappointed at how poor blue gear looks on barbs. It hardly shows up!.
I remember back when I played bnet (booo...this was pre-1.10) seeing some barbs that had the sexiest looking blue-colored gear. They mainly consisted of a rare barb helm, and a lightsabre...I don't know if the rares can still spawn blue-colored, but I think sonic would look pretty sweet with this type of helm, and dual-wielding phase blades :). Also, I know Skin of the Viper is blue, but not sure how it looks on barbs.

-PP
Gambled up some crystal swords. Yeah...

Need some heavier armor, and a more noticable helm though.
Well, so far so good, Fidge has traveled upto the Outer Cloister without too much trouble. Sacrifice is level 10 allready dealing out some nice damage. It was remarkable how fast my life dropped when I started using sacrifice with a 2-handed sword, but now with a backup of zeal it's all good.

---------------------
Fidge
Sith Lord
Level - 16
WP - Outer Cloister
Quest - Countess
Points - 10
----------------------

Outer cloister is 6th wp right? So that's 6 from wp's and 4 from quests.
Andariel has been defeated. Finding deaths hand in level 3 made the fight very easy. fenix continued onto radament and defeated him also. She turned level 18 in the process. SW should help a lot.

She is wearing a Nadir full helm and Stealth chain mail. I probably keep making Nadir helms and get rid of stealth once I find a 3 socket light or field plate. Iths will be dumped into it.

I've got 18 x 1.2= 21.6 points.

It doesn't matter anyway, aside from the 1.4 (1.6) points the quest has no point for either of our characters.

Samus has recovered from a total lack of ID scrolls, which has helped the inventory problem a lot. I didn't get much time last night, since I got my copy of Soul Calibur II back.:uhhuh: She's been playing on /players 1 since she can only carry so much anyway...her damage sucks hard already. 1-4 was what I used until she found a short bow of lightning in the Crypt. Now it's 2-10.

I think what must have happened was that I misplaced the scroll after translating it, and then picked it up at the tree and used it. Or something. I may never know.
TheDrummer has just defeated Andariel and reached Lut Gholein. He has been playing with two sceptres, and with two clubs on switch. He has 6 points in Bash for the synergy with Double Swing, 6 in mace Mastery and 2 in Double Swing (to reduce DS to 1 mana). He relies on Double Swing, which will be his main combat mode throughout the game.

10 WPs and 6 Quests = 16 points. I have no multiplier defined as of yet.

This is a challenging build. Wands and Sceptres drop infrequently and usually lack modifiers on enhanced damage in favor of modifiers on Necro and Pally Skills that my barb can't use. Clubs are a low-end weapon and War Hammers, which are not yet available, are slow. And that's my total set of weapon options! I have been needing to play carefully.

[qutoe="LordMay"]
Andariel has been defeated. ....
I've got 18 x 1.2= 21.6 points.

LordMay, did you miscount, or have you defeated Radamaent as well? Defeating Andariel should put you at 16 points (x1.2).

The Wp's in town count for a point.

I got the staff and cube. things haven't been too tough on p1. I'm only level 19 though. My damage really sucks but my chance to hit is 95 so its ok.

My new points are 21 x 1.2= 25.2
Oops, my bad!

Finally got Thorin started :). He is safely through Act II, and currently resting along with his Rogue companion in the Kurast Docks. Played all of Act I on /players5, and Act II on /players III. I have found a couple uniques and two set items, only one of which is being used by my character lol (Cathan's ring). I'm currently wielding a Steel Broad Axe, and Stealth Breast Plate. I think I need to invest some time magic finding to get my resistances boosted some before I tackle Act III.

Name: Thorin
Theme: LOTR
Score: 30 (18 w/p's, 12 quests) x 1.0 multiplier = 30 points

-PP
I finally managed to start but still didnt have much time to get very far.. have a heap of uni work at the mo..
Anyway Mina_Harker (dracula's wife) has reached level 12 and is now using impale.. and oh.. my.. god.. i heard it was terrible and no one used it but now i understand
if i stay alive long enough to get most of my blood gear on itll be a miracle

Quests: 2
Waypoints: 3
*1.2
=6 points
Well this sucks...

Sonic carked it. Got surrounded by tainted and ratmen in the catacombs. Scratch another one... :(.

Horobi, can you send me an email to weldingmaskman -AT- hotmail -DOT- com please? I tried to send you a prize stash from an earlier character, but got no reply, so I'd like to know that I'm sending them to the right place.

Well, what's up next? I'm going to build around a ccharacter from the old (DOS) game Eradicator:

ELEENA BRYNSTAARL: MERCENARY
Appearance: Female, humanoid feline. Ruthless and ravaging. Bi-pedal motion, sharp bony claws on her feet and hands, and a taut, muscular frame.

Paying particular attention to her weaponry:
...armed with a version of the Cynetics model XG9101 Multi-cannon. The XG9101 is designed to fire a myriad of projectiles of almost any shape or size. It is equipped with a neural-circuitry that learns how to best use many ammo types it is exposed to; and, it can be upgraded to increase its firing potential and lethality...

The skills:
20 Fire arrow
20 Exploding arrow
20 Strafe
Probably some pierce.

The restrictions:
- No merc.
- Cloth armors only.
- Must use a crossbow.
- No map.
Nothing too fancy, but I'd like to see Lut Gholein (sp?) this time around. :).
As to the variety of weapon types, I'll probably keep 2 customised crossbows around, depending on how I go.

Probability of success: 0%
Probability of having fun: 100%

Note: These are posts #121-140 from the original thread.

Okay, I've been wanting to play an assasin character for a tourney. How about something based on the Blade movies?

Blade

Tiger Strike - 20
Represents Blade's skill with the sword.

Fade - 20
Represents Blade's natural toughness due to vampire blood.

Venom - 20
Represents Blade's usage of weapons that act against his enemies vulnerability. (light, garlic, etc...)

Equipment restrictions:
Melee with sword, no shield.

Ranged combat with crossbow.
Closes thing available to a gun.

Merc restriction:
Iron Wolf - cold.
This was a tough one. This represents his weapon building buddy, who comes in to save the day with a gun/vehicle, whatever.

Any theme based suggestions/corrections? Any other skills seem appropriate?

GreyEagle.
Ok, I have tried to think for a few days about this, and I hope I have something. DII is my first real forray into what I would call an RPG. I don't read books, don't play a lot of other games, so this was hard for me.

But I am showing an attempt here. Is this doable? Have I met the 'theme' requirement portion and have I laid it out well enough?

.....Play the intro song please..........

The Don
Money, Money, Money, Money.......Money!

The Don (AKA: Donald Trump) is a master of business.
In 'The Apprentice' style, The Don will be a master
in this tournament. He is not afraid of anyone and will
control all who get in his way.

With 20 points in Skeleton Mastery, there is no doubt
that he can control all who he takes out with those
famous words of "You're Fired!". Yet in this tournament,
those famous words are not spoken, they are deemed said
at the time those monsters are slain in the battlefield.

With 20 points in Raise Skeleton, this gives The Don
plenty of new recruits for this season's list of
apprentice wannabe's. These new young cadets who form
the corporation "Money Incorporated" will have plenty
of battles ahead of them, but only one can be crowned
"The Apprentice" when the final challenge has been
completed.

The Don would not set out on any business arrangement,
or an adventure in this case, without his trusted and
loyal sidekicks.

Carolyn is working hard now to prepare her for this journey
into this tournament, and won't be joining us until a
few quests into Act I. Although she is a Rogue, and quite
willing to guard The Don's blind side; she still has
work in New York that prevents her from starting right
away.

And of course George will follow shortly as well. As
he prepares his office to run efficiently while he
is away with us on this adventurous tournament. He has
sent word he will join us sometime around level 24.

He has indicated that he will try to fly out around the
time we are going up against Duriel, but he doesn't know
for sure if he will make it by then. In his stead, he has
offered to let Bill Rancic (Last year's apprentice winner)
to help us on our journey until his arrival. However,
Bill says he cannot join us for a little while. He
promises to be in the thick of things at level 6 and
can stay only until George has showed up.

As you would expect from The Don, he has a plan for this
tournament. He wanted this to be exciting, courageous,
and test his mental edge against those with might and brawn.
So here are the rules he is self-imposing upon himself.

1) Necromancer
2) Skeleton mastery as he is the master over his dominion.
3) Raise Skeletons to be his apprentices in training.
4) Only a Rogue for a merc, the female sidekick Carolyn.
5) A Clay Golem (Bill Rancic) allowed while awaiting Iron Golem (George).
6) All equipment must have one of these attributes in order to wear it;
A) Item is green.
B) Increases gold or magic find.
C) Poison resistance, poison length reduced, or poison damage.
7) Except for starting wand, only an item meeting criteria 6 above,
will be allowed to be worn even if means being naked for a while.
8) Carolynn can wear anything and is not as crazy as The Don.

Skills
----------
20 Raise Skeleton (The Apprentices)
20 Skeleton Mastery (The Don is a master)
1 Clay Golem (Bill Rancic)
1 Blood Golem (Pre-requisite)
5 Iron Golem (George)
5 Golem Mastery (Even his sidekick is mastered)
5 Summon Resist (All apprentices get some learning from The Don)
1 Teeth (When The Don bites your ass, you know it)
20 Corpse Explosion (The Don leaves no business left unfinished)
5 Amplify Damage (Only to 5; you can't handle The Don at 10!)

Well, I hope it is good enough to get into the tournament. If there are some adaptations or something I haven't thought of, I am all ears.

Condor
nifty theme. well thought out and well planned.

Just concerned a little bit about having an item that is green. I know I can find gear that has increased gold or mf; but I didn't know if adding a poison option is necessary. Assumption that poison would be green equipment also. Green, Money, Etc... But somehow poison doesn't fit.

Any others care to comment on that part?

TheDrummer, my DoubleSwing Barb, has just killed Duriel Rat-a-tat-tat and moved on to Act III and the Kurast Docks.

So, TheDrummer has 19 WPs and 12 Quests = 31 points.

What has happened to this tourney? I still have not been assigned a multiplier and I have not seen the scores posted for quite a few days. Is anybody there?
I think poison goes fine, if only because most green stuff (except emerald-socketed armors) has something to do with poison.
May Warrior of Light participate in this challenge?

Name: Warrior of Light.
Theme: “The Manual of the Warrior of Light†by Paulo Coelho.
Build: A paladin with a sword. Skills and items doesn’t matter (will decide later).

Possible problem. Warrior of Light doesn’t mule items. :(

The post with details will follow later.
I'm sure when Horobi has the time he will post up the table and give you a multiplier. I don't even think most people have started yet.

Actually, there have been already been about five entrants who have played and already been killed! And several more who are reporting progress.

It just seems odd that Horobi would start a Tourney and then not log onto the site for four days. The tourney rules state that if you are not assigned a multiplier at the start of the tourney that a multiplier will be assigned shortly after you enter. I've been entered and playing since Saturday and posting reports and haven't had anyone even acknowledge that I'm in the Tournament. My character is a challenge to play and I was just hoping to hear what my multplier is before my character is killed.
I meant that since you can still sign up for the next 7 weeks there will be constant new entrants. The chart would be filled with a bunch of dead low lvls and a few who have progressed farther into normal. You can post the chart if you want. I doubt Horobi would mind.

As for my progress. Fenix has just recovered the amulet. All was going well until CWT lvl 2. Fangy was very deadly. One of his attacks took half of my hp. I only have 160 :( . This does not fill me with confidence for my fight with duriel. I may have to use my Iths sooner than I want.

Points: 22 x 1.2=26.4

You do have to remember that Horobi started the tourney sooner than he originally planned due to participant pressure. I'm sure he will give out the new multipliers as soon as he gets a chance. I know people have waited a lot longer for build bonus scores in the MET tourney. It's just a side effect of using that type of scoring system.
No progress lately for Charlie.

When you get back Horboi I'll take some multipliers as well.
“A warrior of the light does not put off his decisions.
He reflects properly before acting, considers his training, his responsibility, and his duty to the master. He seeks to maintain serenity, and analyzes each step as if it were the most important one.
But at the moment of making a decision, the warrior moves ahead: he no longer has any doubts about his choice, nor does he alter course should the circumstances be other than those he imagined.
If his decision was the correct one, he will win the combat - even if it takes longer than planned. If his decision is wrong, he will be defeated, and will have to start over again - with more wisdom.
But when he starts out, the warrior of the light follows through to the end.â€

In-game Character name: WarriorOfLight.
Theme: A warrior of light from “The Manual of the Warrior of Lightâ€, a book by Paulo Coelho.
Build: A paladin, using zeal with holy shock (Level 4 Zeal, maximum Holy Shock with all synergies).
Other Rules/Regulations: Warrior of Light fights only with a sword. He always carries a talisman – an item “of Sun†(+5 to Light Radius). He fights together with other warriors of light (only paladin mercenary).
Bip the "necromime" has moved into act 2, defeated Radament and claimed the first desert WP. I took Andy at P3, but the rest has been at P8.

He's gotten bone spear to an effective level now, but lacks the mana pool to use it a whole lot. Gumby is a decent tank, but of course can't kill anything - going without a merc is really going to slow the game down. I may shift to P5 or less soon. Bip still melees and uses his bow from range for many of the kills - CE and BS for a few.The leapers are a total pain - worst monster type to deal with so far!

No really great finds so far, but no MF% either. :) Another "unique" item was added to the stash - Horadric Scroll. I've been dying to ask Cain how he turned up in town, but don't want to break my vow of silence. (BTW, I know he would tell me that the rogues rescued him, that he's disappointed in me, and that he would charge me to ID stuff. )

Quests: 6 (didn't rescue Cain)
WPs: 11
Points: 17 x 1.4 = 23.8
-Name: Jason
-Jason from the famous horror movies
-Skill point distrubution
20 sword mastery: his skill with that sword
20 iron skin: His armor that seems indestructable
20 stun: people are stunned with the terror that they feel
20 Bash: increased damage with his strength
20 battle cry: scares his enemies into hopeless victims
-Any other Rules/Regulations for your character
No merc: jason is a loner with no friends
No shield: he never uses a shield, just a big ass weapon
May only use Falchion, Tulwar or Hyrda Edge sword: this might make me a little slow in starting heh.

I don't know if anyone ahs done this build yet, as i have not looked through every post. If someone has, please tell me.

Question: How am i supossed to get a rated number for this build?

No one has chosen this for there theme. Horobi will give you a multiplier when he has time. I haven't seen him on in a while so it could take a bit. Don't let that stop you from playing.

guys, I'm trying to decide if i should allow my self two Falchion, tulwar..etc.

I know Jason only has one but should i allow myself two? I'm not sure ill be able to kill and survive with one... can someone give me their opinions, thanks
with 1 sowrd, you'll still have an advanatge over other builds in the tourney, so i suggest going for 1. It'll make it more fun (if you like a challenge), and probably get you a higher multiplier.

going fisting is so much fun *NOT* so tireing
I was going pretty well as a melee necro armed only with a spiked club, until I got careless. Use some common sense and you'll be fine. :)

They are qlvl 11, so you can gamble one at level 7.

I have a Barb in the Tourney called The Drummer who must play doubleswing or bash and must use matching 1-H blunt weapons limited to scepters, wands, war hammers and clubs/cudgels/truncheons. He is in Act 3, Normal and is planned as:
1 pt Doubleswing
20 pts Bash
20 pts Mace Mastery
20 Pts BO
Other restriction: no gloves

If you use double falchions etc. with similar skill investment then we'll have similar characters. That's up to you, of course, but just giving notice.

IMO, if I was modeling JASON I would use a Necro with a dagger and use poison dagger skill and invest in synergies + the skill called Terror.

huh? that makes no sense. Jason carries a masheti not a dagger and has no way poison on it... Never saw your build but hmm, i'm still going to do what I said because im already halfway through act1.
Warrior of Light has finished Act 1 in “/players8†mode. All quests was completed, all way points was found...
Enough reports! That was amazing challenge! That was just a dance with Cursed Archers, Cold Enchanted Tainteds and Andariel Itself. Just level 4 zeal and level 1 holy fire (level 1 holy freeze later) against hundreds hit points. No mercenary, Warrior of Light need no help from a rogue, he finished Blood Raven quest after killing Andariel and hiring noble paladin at Act 2.
Preparation wins battle, not battle itself. For final fight with “/players8†Andariel Warrior of Light collected maximum poison resistance and crystal sword, socketed with three chipped topazes. Actually Tainted pack was much harder, because of low lightning resistance, only a rejuvenation potion saved the life of Warrior of Light. No, he wasn't near death, he had rejuvenation potions on the belt for quick access.

Now Warrior collects Ral runes in Countess runs for “/players8†Act2. Warrior never hunt for items, he just prepare for battles. =)

How to count Horadric Maulus quest after returning the Maulus to Charsy, but without actual imbue? Is it completed or it is uncompleted?

How to calculate way points? Is town way point counts?

If you count unimbued quest as complted and count Act1 ant Act2 town waypoints, then Warrior of Light has 16 points (6 quests and 10 way points).
I think that I would like to join... I don't have as much time as I others, but we'll see how things go.

Name: T-bird
Theme - Bad guy from the Crow (movie)

T-bird is the leader of the gang that kills Eric Draven. His specialty is explosives, but he carries a gun.

His first Merc will be Tin Tin, who is the first killed. Then Fun Boy, who is killed next. Then Skank. Skank actually outlives T-bird. Tin Tin is a knife thrower, which is best represented as a rogue (alas). When that merc dies, I can hire another rogue (note hire a new one, not resurrect the last one), who will be Fun Boy (who has a really big gun). When he dies, I can hire Skank, the Barbarian. Skank can be resurrected as many times as is necessary.

Skills:

Corpse Explosion: 20
Poison Explosion: 20
Poison Dagger: 20 (synergy only, not allowed to be used)
Poison Nova: 20 (synergy only, not allowed to be used)

He can only use a crossbow or wands as weapons.

Ready to detonate!

Porius
Warrior of Light completed all quests and found all waypoints in Act2 at players8.
That wasn’t interesting. After around three hours of constant killing of Bishibosh he finally found Rixot's Keen sword. 25% Chance of Crushing Blow is all he needs to pass any challenge.
At the time Warrior of Light has level 3 Holy Shock, that is synergied by level 15 Resist Lightning. No one at Act 2 can stay against Zeal with 25% Crushing Blow and 1-369 damage Holy Shock, not even “/players8†Duriel.

Warrior of Light.
Level 26 Paladin.
Zeal and Holy Shock.
Quests completed: 12.
Waypoints collected: 3 at towns (Act1, Act2 and Act3), 16 outside.
Total Points: 31.

P.S.: Is anyone else playing in the tournament, or it is abandoned?
I've stopped playing, owing to exams/assignments catching up to me.
Normal Act 3 was conquered by Warrior of Light at “/players8â€. There was not any challenge again. Even Mephisto himself cannot stand against 1000 damage of Holy Shock with Zeal and Crushing Blow.
Now Warrior prepares to fight with Oblivion Knights, good enemies for Zealers.
Warriors of light prefers swords, but it seems that, it is good time to find a good bow. :)

True tension
"When my bow is drawn," says Herrigen to his Zen master, "a moment comes when, if I do not fire immediately, I feel that I will run out of strength."
"As long as you try to trigger the moment to fire the arrow, you shall not learn the art of archery," says the master. "The hand which draws the bow must open up like the hand of a boy. What sometimes hinders the shot's precision is the overactive will of the archer."
A warrior of the light sometimes thinks: "that which I do not do, shall not be done."
That is not quite the case: he must act, but he must also allow the Universe to act at the right time.

Warrior of Light.
Level 31 Paladin.
Zeal and Holy Shock.
Quests completed: 18.
Waypoints collected: 4 in towns, 24 outside.
Total Points: 46.
Well, I haven't actually started T-Bird, yet. I will probably do so here this weekend, it being a long one and all. 👏

Hopefully my theme is interesting so the originator of the thread. Wherever he is. :p

Porius
The original start date of the tourney is coming up so he should be back on soon.
All quests and all waypoints in Act 4 is done. "/players8" was used all the time as usual.
Now it was interesting. Chaos Sanctuary forced Warrior of Light to hide his sword and show his Repeating Crossbow. You know, all that Oblivion Knights with Iron Maiden for mêlée characters and Bosses with minions, that trying to surrender you. All that pretty things gave Warrior a lot of joy and fun fighting. Iron Maiden of Oblivion Knights was conquered by the crossbow. And he managed to escape from surrounding using tactics of "careful running away and shutting". To escape the trap of Infector of Souls (right seal boss) he had to run away to town portal and then get back from River of Flames waypoint.
After all that challenges even players 8 Diablo was easy, because Warrior may use his sword again!

BTW, he finally found his talisman, that he probably will use until he will find better talisman in far future -- a rare gloves with +5 to light radius.

Warrior of Light.
Level (33?) Paladin.
Zeal and Holy Shock.
Quests completed: 21.
Waypoints collected: 5 in towns, 26 outside.
Total Points: 52.
Warrior of Light will henceforth be known as Destroyer Warrior of Light!
Normal difficulty is finished in players 8 mode. All way points are collected as well as all quests are finished. Technically Imbue, Socket and Personalize quests are not completely finished yet and is active in the game, but Warrior of light has already returned The Malus and killed Shenk and Nihlathak, so he counts this quests as finished.
Act 5 at players 8 (Ancients and Baal too) wasn't difficult for him, thanks to more then 3k maximum damage of Holy Shock. That was just training before future real challenges.
At the moment he maximized Holy Shock and Resist Lightning and is working on his Holy Shield skills.
You can find his current ATMA full dump here.

[highlight]Destroyer Warrior of Light[/highlight].
Level 50 Paladin.
Zeal and Holy Shock.
Quests completed: 27 (all in normal).
Waypoints collected: 40 (all 39 in normal plus the first in nightmare).
The bonus for tittle: 5.
[highlight]Total Points: 72[/highlight].
Congratulations on being the first destroyer.I really gotta start playing my assassin before I fall too far behind.
dun worry May, i havent been able to put myself on Gorath either...
still act 1, i think i managed to get the first waypoint... (dunno exactly) ;)
That was amazing! The battle with Andariel! Warrior of Light was near death and has won.
Act 1 of Nightmare was finished. He still playing on “/players8†all the time.
Another great battle was Fire Enchanted + Spectral Hit Afflicted's one. See his screenshot here. That was hard! His bolts are too dangerous! May be warrior has not enough life – 588? His resistances are maxed.
The destiny gave a favor to Warrior, after his first try to cube Grand Charm the cube produced that beauty:

Shimmering Grand Charm
Keep in Inventory to Gain Bonus
Required Level: 27
Item Version: 1.10 Expansion
Item Level: 36
Fingerprint: 0x97fbac78
All Resistances +15

[highlight]Destroyer Warrior of Light.[/highlight]
Level 53 Paladin.
Zeal and Holy Shock.
Normal difficulty: 71 (all quests, all waypoints and the bonus for destroyer).
NM quests: 6.
NM waypoints: 10.
[highlight]Total score:87[/highlight].
Warrior of light was slain by Death Beetle. Rest in Peace brave hero. Your deeds of valor will be remembered.

It was just Extra Strong random unique boss. It is possible, that Warrior of Light got several critical hits in a row. He didn't even have a time to drink a full rejuvenation potion. He took good damage from the boss itself, drank a normal life potion, and then quickly died from a minion.

Why he is dead? He had not enough life for melee combat -- around 650. He did have good lightning resistance -- 85%. He did have good blocking -- ~50%. He did have good defense, something enough for ~50% chance to be hit by the Death Beetle. May be he was a bit careless, but it is a part of life of any warrior of light.

He took honorable death in a battle anyway. Rest in peace. It is time for Warrior of Light II, not in the tournament, though.

[highlight]Destroyer Warrior of Light.[/highlight]
Dead Hardcore Level 56 Paladin.
Zeal and Holy Shock.
Normal difficulty: 71 (all quests, all waypoints and the bonus for destroyer).
NM quests: 7 (last was Atma's)
NM waypoints: 14 (last was in far oasis).
[highlight]Final score:92.[/highlight]
Now it seems I have to bust out fenix and get some revenge on those beetles(if I make it that far) A very good showing and a score that should stand up pretty well for a while. Have a drink on me :drink:

Poor Faile has been left to wait while I read on her book basis... amidst the rest of the series... I really must start on her, but I haven't been in the mood to start D2 up latly. Maybe it's 'cause I'm warm enough without thinking about that river of flame or ACT 2 alogether....

I think it has been a week since I've played any D2 which is a lot for me. I'm sure I'll ge back to it eventually but for the moment I'm completely happy doing nothing.
