2 question Help

I have 2 questions:
First one, I know the more players the merrier in a game for drops. Lets use cow level for example. My question is, I have 4 computers so I can put 4 char into a game at a time. Do I need to put all 4 players into the cow level or can I leave 3 in town (all characters are partied). And just run the cow level with my one characters and get the same drop as if they were all down there?
Second question, if a gray socket item has %Ed on it can it be used for a rune word. Lets say I found on the ground (cow level) gray wirefleece 450 def and has a blue mod on it like 50 %ed. Can this be used for a rune word like wealth, smoke etc?

Thanks, Weapon

I don't have the exactly formulas at hand, but the best situation for drops is "all people partied and in the same map".

Drops pretty much max out at 4-5 players, so 4 players is next to perfect. I only have two CD keys :-(

If it is a MOD ("foo's wirefleece", "wirefleece of something", or "foo's wirefleece of something"), then it can't be runeworded. If it's just a SUPERIOR item ("superior wirefleece"), then it can be runeworded.

He did say that the name was Grey...so long as the name of the item is in Grey, you should have no problems.

item drops (well technically "nodrops") are based on the number of players in the game not the location of those players nor how they are partied. So it does not mean you need to have all 4 people in the same area, as far as MFing with a group goes its best to seperate and conquer many areas at once this allows for you to spread out and still recieve the multi player bonus. You can do pit runs while others are doing a baal run for instance, you will get less experience but you will get the better drop rate since you have more players in game.

runewords must be made in grey lettered items, that means even though a blue item has the right number of sockets it will not work as a runeword. Could you imagine mosers blessed circle with rythme in it?? So your answer is no. If you have 50% ED on an item you will not be able to make a runeword in it.

There is one possible way to get more ED with a runeword (well 2) get a superior item with %ED, (or get a mastery staffmod the same as the weapon). Otherwise your SOL when it comes to getting ED outside of the runewords ED.

If you read the post, he says that if he (hypothetically) has a Grey wirefleece with the 50% ED mod on it, will it be usable for a runeword, and the answer is yes, because the name of the item is in Grey text, not blue, green, gold, etc.

The mods are in a blue color because that's just how its coded, only the color of the item name is of any importance.

Thanks all,
and thanks Xlaxx, I'll try it out on smoke to see if it works. I'm sure i have some 2 soc. Gray armor with blue words like %ed on it to try it out. Just wanted to make sure be for i did it.

The highest %ED on any non magical/rare/set/unique item is 15% on a superior item. 50% is not possible on a grey item without modding the game.
