1.11 Release Notes

I found a change!

You can no longer give yourself mana pots by pressing 1-4 while holding down the shift key.

Your merc says "i can't use that" and nothing happens.

Very annoying

Are you sure with that? Isn't it that you just had CAPSLOCK active or something? It would be a terrible bug.

@Crudesash: I have read several posts about defeating the three - They doesn't seem to spawn close together and can be separated. I think the smiter, CB zealot or any other CB build with Life Tap and high life can do it.

Pressing 1-4 gives the pot to your character. That goes for anything in your belt--red, purple, blue, TPs, whatever.

When you hold shift down it gives the thing on your belt to the merc instead. Only reds and purples can be used in this way.

I'm pretty sure it's always been like that.

I'm 100% sure that, in 1.10, pressing shift+1 caused me to drink a mana potion if I had a mana potion in my belt slot 1.

Now, nothing happens

7) Peace ctc Valk: Is is bugged on characters as well?

Not bugged, I guess... having never played a Amazon I can't fully comment. But, from my encountered the Valk is pretty worthless, at least this one.

She only lasts a few seconds. May be half a minute or something. I didn't know what was up with that, so I decided to take her to town and heal her and see how long she could last free from any possible damage. Then I noticed she couldn't take town portals. She will vanish. Now, I seriously doubt that is normal behavior because The Arreat Summit says: "You can Heal the Valkyrie via a Town Healer". Umm, no I can't, she can't go into town!

So.. not only does she not work with a merc, but getting any usefullness out of her is practically impossible. She dissapears if you take the armor off, if you go to town or after a few seconds. Then you're back to hitting something 50 times so she'll make another brief appearance. Certainly not very usefull.

1.11?

Thrilled to hear the FE bug is fixed. My HC characters (especially melee) can rest a little easier. I hope the ridiculously overpowered large charm is not on SP and just an uberboss we don't have access to kill. I'm also glad the ridiculously overpowered inexpensive battlenet runewords from 1.10 aren't on SP either. The game doesn't need to be any easier, which makes it a shame we can't kill any uberboss. But even if 1.11 is 1.10c (and 1.10b for singleplayers) it's still better than nothing as it fixed some stuff... assuming they didn't add any new bugs we haven't found yet.

I'm going to add a couple to that list:

1) the Fend bug,
2) the Charge bug,
3) the Leap bug,
4) any changes to the 1.10 drop rates, and
5) the effect of mercenary XPing?
6) the Andy quest drop bug
7) Peace ctc Valk: Is is bugged on characters as well

8) the Inferno/ArcticBlast bug?

----

On the whole "Blizzard screwed Singelplayers again"... well it's not the 1st time, so no surprise here. But I wished that would have been a seperate thread and have 1 thread that just focused on the 1.11 changes.

In 1.10 for me, if I drank a mana potion while holding the shift key, the merc said "Thank you," but my mana filled up.

Thanks to KrAzY3 for the ctc Valk crash question. Synergies should work with the ctc, right? (I really want to try out a fendazon. :) ) Anyhow, I've added that to the question list.

Here is what I have picked up so far from this thread and others and the question list. Add to it with what you know/want to know:

1.11 Things that have been observed
-FE Bug is fixed
-SP gets the 4 B.net runewords (Duress, ect. )
-SP gets the 7 new armor runewords (Peace, ect.)
-SP does NOT get the 23 ladder-only runewords added in the 2nd ladder season (Spirit, Insight, ect.)
-You can no longer drink a mana potion from a hotkey while holding the shift key. Your merc says "I can't use that" and nothing happens.
-The ctc Valk crashes the game if worn by a merc or used for an iron golem.
-The ctc Valk works for players, but she poofs when you go to town.
-The keys (Terror, Destruction, Hate) spawn in SP, but cannot be used to open the portal. They will crash the current version of ATMA if you open a character that a key on it.
-Mercenaries gain experience at a much better rate.
-Hired mercenaries are 1-5 levels below the character, a high level character can hire a high level merc in normal.
-Gloams are as buggy as ever.
-Fangskin's drop has been messed up. (It might be okay for the first kill.)

1.11 Questions to be answered.
1) the Fend bug,
2) the Charge bug,
3) the Leap bug,
4) any changes to the 1.10 drop rates, and
5) the Andy quest drop bug
6) the Inferno/ArcticBlast bug
7) Peace ctc Valk: Does this get synergy bonuses?

Part of the purchase price for the game goes into ongoing support. I don't rate Blizzard's support very favourably. I paid the same price for my game as someone who plays online. On the back of the CD it says I could play SP, up to 8 players over TCP/IP or Battle.net. Nowhere does it say they would selectively treat Battlenet users more favourably. Nowhere is indicated that they would develop extra's for Battlenet and explicitly code in exclusions to deny SP users the same functionality. Blizzard had to do extra work to remove features for SP and that bites. Thus with less effort and lower costs, they could have satisfied more gamers - and they didn't take that approach. Thus, in my eyes they have failed dismally in the support department. I expect and demand equal treatment. If I'd known up front they they discriminate against SP in this way I never would have purchased their game no matter how good it is.

My gripe is not with Blizzard adding new features over 5 years (that's a good thing). My gripe is that they actually make special effort to exclude my chosen method of playing the game, a pretext they sold the game to me on in the first place. THAT's why Blizzard will never get another $ out of me. It's called integrity and fairness, concepts apparently unknown at Blizzard. It's not like they haven't been told, but sadly, it's fallen on deaf ears and blind eyes.

Again, I couldn't agree more.

I'm not rant about this patch itself, but the way blizzard treat SPer like SH*T, and the future games they are pushing.

I expect to pay the full price once, and get the same level of support/goodies as everyone else, and I'm not going to pay an extra monthly fees to continuely play the game I'm already paid for.

If we look for the fairness issue closely, b.netters cost blizzard money, and they get more? and we don't cost their money, but get less! Also as already pointed out, they spend extra effort to cut what we are entitle to get at the first place, this is insult!

Anyway, I'm more interested to know if the leap bug has been fixed or not. FE bug, I can now live with it, but Leap bug is the one really needs to be fixed, it stops my project going.

Yup that's what happened to me too.

I haven't noticed any difference in the drops so far. Of course, if there's only a small change in the rate rare stuff drops that won't be obvious for a very long time. If ever

Iron golem, I assume. :p

And addition to the list: Mercs can be changed easier as they can be hired 1-5 lvls from your level?

I don't know about you guys but this is the way you give your merc a potion (red, blue, purple) without having to drag it into the char window. I do this all the time while running Meph on p8 since my merc can't leech.

If you can't do this in 1.11 then it's a real shame.

From what I've read it doesn't work with blue mana potions anymore (which just made you drink it instead of wasting it on a Merc), but I've seen nothing saying reds and purples won't work with Shift-#.

My understanding is that you can still give your merc red and purple pots using the shift-belt hotkey. Before when you gave them blue pots this way, you drank them instead. (Which meant the casters didn't have to take their hand of the shift key to drink a mana pot.) Now when you give your merc a mana pot this way, nothing happens.

I'd be interested to know how this affects their stats, though.

I've been wondering the same. If you level a merc through the game it will have better stats in the end I assume but just how much?

I wasn't around the SPF when 1.10 came out. Were there similar reactions when SP didn't get Uber Diablo or the Annihilus? I'm not one to tell someone else how they should feel and I've never walked a step in anyone else's shoes, but I am perplexed by some of the reactions to the patch here. I feel that the changes we did get were for the better. I also agree that the "Realm Only" content is there to encourage people to play on the Realms, just like the "Ladder Only" content introduced in 1.10 was to encourage people to play on the fresh, clean (momentarily) ladder as opposed to nonladder. Is that fair? I don't know, I'm neutral on that subject. I won't be deleting my SP characters or ATMA, though, even if I do venture out to go find the "Keys".

OK, after the frustration venting, I did it, I installed the thing. No big loss, really, and with the fire bug fixed, I am one happy meleer. Also, the new RW are interesting for some new ideas.

I am keeping my old stash, and probably will change my grail status to something like "self found 1.1X".

Cattleya, you may add the Anya bug in that list of stuff to be tested!

Edit: Also, the etherealness kept in transmutation, does it mean that you keep items ethereal after crafting, rerolling blues and rares? (I know eth items could be imbued, socketed and named after you without losing eth status)

This is an important thing to verify!

Also, We know that eth unique armor pieces, when upgraded, no longer lose the eth bonus. That is one big remark!

Possible additional bug and mini-rant

Hey all,

I've been biding my time, reading evenyone else's posts and playing 1.11 alittle myself. So here goes.

First, I have a possible small bug to report (at least I'm pretty sure it isn't my computer). I use the mouse 3 button for my automap by default, but it no longer registers the mouse 3 button at all after patching to 1.11. Just to let you all know, the button works perfectly on all other aspects of my computer as well as on 1.10. This may not seem to make a huge diff to most, but it is slowly tearing away what little sanity I once had. Damn....now I'm no better off than Malius.

As for Blizzard thumbing its collective noses at us SPers, it hasn't really. They put the new code in, somebody makes a mod to give it to us SPers. The day that I WILL be pissed at Blizzard is when they go the extra mile to keep us out of the code and not let us modify the game to get everything B.Net players have. Now I know vanilla players are ready to pounce, but with the response and the "mass conversion" to the RWM that lots of people are taking part in currently, I believe that those who support vanilla versions and those who play slightly or horribly modded versions can coexist.
