1.10 Beta Crescent Moon question

I've been told the best way to maximize my 1.09 runes is to make Crescent Moon in beta 1.10... so, I would like to ask what base weapon are most popular for Crescent Moon, and where does one get the 1.10 beta patch?

Thanks in advance.

Re: 1.10 Beta Crescent Moon question

For use on your merc: Any 3-socket elite ethereal polearm. A Thresher would be preferable for low requirements and high speed.

For use on your character: 3-socket Phase Blade for speed and indestructibility. Less commonly, Cryptic Sword or Berserker Axe.

EDIT: You should probably find the base weapon in 1.09 and bring it forward to beta along with the runes. But don't you play mostly 1.09 anyway? You wouldn't be able to use your beta runeword in 1.09.

Phase Blade is the most common i'd wager. I have one myself for the speed and indestructible benefits. I think it's a bit more difficult getting a PB in beta though :?

As for where to get the patch i'd imagine the info is listed in the stickies somewhere.

Yes, I'm playing 1.09, but I'm not starting any new characters in 1.09, just gearing up for a start in 1.12 - I've traded a lot of my Raven Claws for a collection of good 1.12 stuff (2 Mals, 1 Um, 1 Pul, Perfect IK set, 2 Reaper's Tolls, a Dracul's Grasp, etc.) plus I was gifted a Tal's armor for rushing a buddy to Mat in 1.09 (there are some who still play 1.09). Don't worry, I'm keeping 4 of my Raven Claws for my own character building.

So... I'm trying to maximize my gravitas for starting a 1.12 build - I do actually have a Realm Fishymancer I've started, but all my SP riches do me squat on the Realm, and I've been spoiled by ATMA - He's got a full inventory of stuff and I haven't taken the time to figure out how to mule on the Realm - plus I imagine everybody's on the test realm anyway.

I've got 4 1.09 Um runes and a bevy of socketed items, but I don't know just how many ethereal socketed items I have. I figure I'll make 2 Crescent Moons - is it a sin to make such a cheese runeword in a non-eth base item?

Re: 1.10 Beta Crescent Moon question

A Phase Blade would be the most common.

Now, 'Crescent Moon' has:
7% Chance To Cast Level 13 Static Field On Striking
+180-220% Enhanced Damage (varies)

In Beta, 'Crescent Moon' had:
20% CtC Static Field
220-260% Damage

Re: 1.10 Beta Crescent Moon question

You definitely want to make Crescent Moon in a non-ethereal sword. Use an ethereal base only if you're making the runeword for a merc weapon.

Really, I think a CM Phase Blade (non-eth, obviously) and a CM Thresher (eth) will serve all purposes.

Thanks.

I know I have a 3os non-eth Thresher, and I THINK a 3os Phase Blade dropped last night in Baal running (I've recently added Baal runs to my Countess running - TGod's Vigor on my Barb and Blackhorn's Face on the mercs solved the Bartuc MSLE issue), so I guess I'm pretty much set for the beta Crescent Moon idea - I don't want to burn more than 2 of my Um runes (anything over Thul is precious in 1.09, since you can't cube past Thul).
