1.07 News, Info and Gossip

Magic items have a lot of potential in 1.07. Awhile back I tried to rack a Godly AP of the Whale. Add 4 sockets to that for the ULTIMATE 60/160. Sadly the repair costs are beyond ridiculous!

But definitely snag the better magic items for the socket quest. Cruel weapons of quickness, barb helms, godly armors, and pelts are all worth it. Claws are capped to two sockets, though :(

I'm not discussing the rules or trying to change them, I'm just stating the obvious. I don't trade or mp, so it has no direct effect on me (only perhaps an unfair disadvantage in tournaments, but who cares - I play hc so I can't win anyway).
 
I think I've arrived at the 5th stage of grief when it comes to racking.

1) Denial
I won't need thousands of runs to get my harle.
2) Anger
Why hasn't harle dropped yet!?
3) Bargaining
If I just do a couple of more runs, harle will surely drop...
4) Depression
3000 runs and harle still hasn't dropped, this game hates me.
5) Acceptance
Racking sucks, I might as well do a couple more runs.

Congratulations!

A 1.07 Zod is almost new IFT worthy in itself, but especially if you can use it to Zod-bug an item and bring it to 1.10+ to make something very unique. I would love a ethereal Zod bugged 1.07/1.08 Arreats or something (and maybe upgrade it too?)!

Is iron wolf merc viable if I'm a necro using lower res? I'm thinking maybe it would be fun against council. Do I use +skills? fcr? or just use a rogue with crushing blow instead?
 
I heard they're viable if you give them a Zod rune. Too bad no one has ever tried...

(On a serious note, without synergies and -res like in newer patches I don't see them being viable in any way)
 
I did a little bit of testing. Cold merc does SOME dmg, and freezing council is nice to stop them from healing, to some extent. Also very safe firing from a distance. He can kill water snakes easily, which is cool I guess.

Merc is only geared half-properly. I might throw on shako + culwen's point + sigon's for some +skills to see if that makes much of a difference. Hurray for lower res!

Now roll some rare jools in 1.08 with your 99 Barb ;)
 
So.. I've never socketed one of my 1.07 wizzy's. Other than an ist (I don't want to waste the only one I've found) I can't really think of any crazy uses for it. +10 str or dex might be useful. 30% to a resistance might be useful (if you have such a jewel). I'm thinking of throwing in my 5@ jewel (I don't think I've seen higher before). 100@ just seems cool!

Any other thoughts? I suppose hel rune is useful to some so they can save some dex. I don't really like +str because it's main use would be for arkaine's valor, but I'd want the option of being able to weapon-swap without losing half of my life pool lol.
 
Yep! Wasn't until 1.10 that they blocked you from entering certain areas before completing quests.

Edit: You can sort of skip Summoner as well. All you really need is the correct tomb, which you can find out by going to the summoner's spawn point and note which one of the seven symbols is missing. I mention it because I assume you plan on multi-client-boosting. Especially on Hardcore this makes things easier. Duriel also is irrelevant for the boostee; what's important is that the boostee talks to Tyreal. This is still true in 1.14.
