1.07 News, Info and Gossip

The older LoD discs come with 1.07 by default and you have to update them if you was to play something newer. So if you are lucky you won't have to change the patch. If you don't have Glide Wrapper, you'll probably need it to get the best out of the game. Also get yourself ATMA for muling items. Some people have problems running D2 on Win7 and Win8, but I never have. Get the game exe to run as administrator and use Windows XP compatibility mode. If you have Glide Wrapper installed correctly it will come up as an option when you run the graphics test exe. Hope it all goes well and you're up and playing soon.

Edit: I'm assuming that you haven't got D2 installed. If you have you can use one of the version switchers that are mentioned in the stickies.

pharphis, you have a crafted leech ring with ilvl 99, really? Did you craft it yourself? Can we see the readout?

These are my two leech rings, made around the same time (I don't remember the order) by a ~lvl 85-91 sorc

Stone Band
Ring
Required Level: 56
Item Version: Expansion
Item Level: 57
Fingerprint: 0x6447c6f4
+11 to Strength
+43 to Attack Rating
Lightning Resist +29%
22% Life stolen per hit

Stone Turn
Ring
Required Level: 59
Item Version: Expansion
Item Level: 99
Fingerprint: 0x24bc09c8
+13 to Strength
+13 to Life
+6 to Maximum Stamina
Lightning Resist +27%
21% Life stolen per hit

I'm too lazy to check, but I'm sure both were posted when they were made, and it would have been around July last year (before I started running trav). If someone cares enough they can cross-reference the IFT of the time and the 1.07 thread/streaming thread to see what level my sorc was, since I usually post level ups

I already have D2 installed, and need help with making one of the version switchers work. Can't seem to figure them out.

Those numbers are incredibly ridiculous. 1.07 wtf.
and I got them so quickly, too :D
Very lucky considering I believe they're the only two that I got with bugged leech at all...

Also lres <3 for 1.07 trav is so important. Without stacking it, MSLE + conviction does about 5k per sec if you're zerking a PI

Colossus Sword
One Hand Damage: 58 - 157
Two Hand Damage: 136 - 271
Durability: 26 of 26
Required Level: 60
Required Strength: 172
Required Dexterity: 85
Fingerprint: 0x7bd14795
Item Level: 87
Version: Expansion
50% Enhanced Damage
Ethereal
Made Death in this and rolled a 314%; re-rolled and got a 342%, but in in-game it shows one-handed damage of 191-516. By my calculations, it should be something closer to 172 to 693. 2H damage reads 447-890; should be closer to 402-1197. Does it just not display correctly in-game either once a RW applied?

(GoMulte shows same stats as shown in-game, but shows 392% ED instead of 342%.)

take a look at weapon damage on some d2 site

then multiply by 1,5
then multiply mindmg by runeword mods
then multiply maxdmg by runeword + 50% (in other words in axample of death *(1+3,xx+0,5) )

I think you forget that this is v1.07. Min damage should be CS non-eth base * 1.5 *4.42; max should be CS non-eth base * 2.25 *4.42.

From Repusz's guide:

- Ethereal weapons and the special, mysterious "Enhanced Maximum Damage" mod: This is an attribute that existed only pre-1.09, and occasionally spawned on ethereal items. It adds 50% ED to the max damage of the weapon that is then enhanced by the etherealness. So the damage of these items - instead of the (min damage+1)*1.5 - (max damage+1)*1.5 formula of the v1.09 ethereals - is (min damage+1)*1.5 - (max damage+1)*2.25 (1.5*1.5). If an item has ED% and +max damage on it, then the max damage will be (base item max damage+1)*(1+ED%/100+0.5)*1.5 + max damage.

That 2,25 multiplier is only for an item with no ED%-roll. If the weapon has other ED%, the 50% gets added to it. I don't see anything wrong in your picture.

Well damn. That significantly decreases the damage potential of my planned Death CS + Beast Zerker concentrate barb Nihl runner. Means Grief + Beast has ~8 percent more damage/swing potential /w my planned setups. (Although I still think CS + Beast is the better setup, but that's a conversation best for the theory crafting thread.)

This question is more 1.08 related than 1.07, but I'm assuming they are similar in this case. Other than the differences in the pre-set mods between lesser and greater crafted items, are there any differences in the allowed random mods? Can you get, for instances, +2 to skills on lesser crafted items? And if so, is the chance of getting it higher with greater crafter items?

Yes. If the 50 ED for max dmg was applied also in the weapon base damage 1.07 eths would be even more OP!

The only limitation you have on crafts for mods is the ilvl of the craft. Lesser or Greater crafts don't limit that :)

I'm half was through 1.08 and I've still yet to find a Fal so that makes greater caster weapons a little problematic! I have a +2 skills wand already, all be it a very basic one, but I've got a fist full of Orts so I was going to see if I could roll a better +2 wand. If there is no possibility of it in a lesser craft, there's not much point really!

I've noticed something about crafted items in 1.08 a while back and I've mentioned before. Some 1.08 crafted items create an error when you try to open a character file in ATMA, the dreaded "The item data in this file may be corrupt" warning. I created a some caster boots for my Necro and one pair I was rather happy with. After selling the useless ones I went to ATMA to mule something on or off the character and got the "The item data in this file may be corrupt" warning. Out of utter frustration, I just kept loading the character and telling the warning when it came up not to load the character. After doing this three or four times the character opened normally and the offending item was there without a problem. I moved the item off into a new stash and the character opened normally and the stash had the error. Again I kept telling the warning not to load the stash and trying again and after 3 or 4 times the stash opened normally. I've since done this dozens of times now and after at least one warning that "The item data in this file may be corrupt" and saying not to open the file, the file opens normally and I'm able to use ATMA without a problem. This is of only minor use since 1.08 is not in common use, but have anyone tried doing this for 1.07 runewords? All my 1.07 stuff is stashed away on a flash drive somewhere, but can someone try this technique with the 1.07 ATMA errors (if they haven't done so already) to see if this works or is just a 1.08 fix?

I've talked about this on the ATMA/GoMule thread here.

EDIT: I found my flash drive with 1.07 stuff and sadly the answer is no. There is something about ATMA that kills runeworded 1.07 characters, either makes them enable to open or, weirdly, resets them to level 1. Well, at least I've now got full access to all the 1.08 crafted items.
