1.07 News, Info and Gossip

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

just so you can deed them? ;)

the only non-1.07 character I have for now is a level 25 nec in 1.13 (which I also haven't played in like 2 months), so trading isn't really viable atm I'm afraid

Yes, but better I deed them then those other HC losers :p
But ya if you're ever willing to trade 1.07 stoof for 1.13 stoof I've got pretty much everything in terms of S/Us (for a HC player)

What's your next plan in 1.07?

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

I think unique wise I'm almost good I think, although for the moment I am still running the rack that gave me my 2nd Wizzy for a 3rd, since it's a good map (Wizzy rack @ camp fire superchest close to WP). Also finding a Shako map again would be nice.

Other than that I mostly want crafting materials and charms, so I need a good LK map with 2 camp fires. I also want to try out running Trav for the same reason, probably with a Barbarian (I have a level 60?! one that I took with me on my playthrough, most levels come from ancients), which I will need to level (also need small BK sword, no mythical sword rack so far though).

I may level the Sorc some more (almost level 86 right now) for crafting amulets (+3 skill tab amulets anyone?). Not sure where to best get more Lum and Ko runes for amulet and ring crafting. Maybe rushing toons for Hellforge (NM I guess? and then keep Hell for later patches?) is worth it? Dunno...

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

My sorc has made it to NM Meph with few problems bar enthusiasm on my part. My equipment is not the best and I have less than 100%MF. I can comfortably run Meph, even though it is far from speedy, but with the low %MF I'm not getting much to show for it. Is it better to just continue on adventuring or to stick with Meph and try to come up with a few better pieces of equipment? Are there any other viable MF targets?

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

I remember I ran Blood Raven with the bugged set MF breakpoint. I don't remember the difficulty level and MF number tho.

If you have patience, NM LK will be very helpful. You can rack Trang Gloves there, Valk, m'avina's belt, Trang armor, etc. And get some charms with life, mana, res, frw and fhr that will help. Also crafting materials.

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

if you want more MF I'd try running NM LK or council for gems briefly and continue running meph once you have armor + helm full of ptopazes.

Make sure once you've got more MF roll a short map and run on on p1 or p3.. MF switch should help, too (milabrega's shield for killing spell)

edit: I wrote a lot more then realized this was 1.07 :p

NM LK may be an even better target for some gear.. but tbh I'm not sure what meph is likely to drop for you in 1.07

Racks for the set/uniques (or blues if you get lucky) and chests for charms/runes/jewels/gems. I usually prefer fast racks and ignore chests, but in HC I popped the chests a lot and the results were quite good.

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

Came back to 1.07 yesterday, and spent some time starting up a chipadin. Got to Lv8 and stopped to roll an MPK ring, and got this on the last (of 24) sapphire:

Code:
Prefix 1092 Ring
Item Version: Expansion
Item Level: 5
Fingerprint: 0x60797c42
+34 to Mana After Each Kill

Spent a couple hours today shopping Lazruk/Anya for gear upgrades for my sorc and her barb. Managed to set the barb up with some FHR +%def armour and helmet, so he's set until I can start getting access to better weapon affixes. Also got her some better gloves and boots, nearly maxing out her resists. Most of the time was spent trying to get a Scintillating shield of a useful suffix. In that time, I saw only three scintillatings, but lots of rainbows and shimmerings.

Code:
Prefix 999 Tower Shield of Balance
Defense: 24
Chance to Block: 44%
Durability: 60 of 60
Required Strength: 75
Required Level: 3
Item Version: Expansion
Item Level: 32
Fingerprint: 0x46d3f01c
All Resistances +8
10% Faster Hit Recovery

That was an early find that remained the best for a long time, as it gave me two frames of FHR. I also got one with 17%FHR, but it doesn't push past the next breakpoint. Another hour or so in, I got this:

Code:
Prefix 1000 Spiked Shield of the Sentinel
Defense: 21
Chance to Block: 30%
Durability: 40 of 40
Required Strength: 30
Required Level: 18
Item Version: Expansion
Item Level: 33
Fingerprint: 0x37aa2e
Magic Damage Reduced by 2
All Resistances +15

A perfect Scintillating roll, and a pretty decent suffix. At this point, I don't think it's worth it to try and keep going for a FHR suffix, and that my time would be better spent getting on in levels to then shop a more end-game worthy shield. Of course, now in order to wear that, I should really shop a a faster hit recovery belt with some LR, as dropping to only 10% FHR doesn't feel very wise. Oh well... XD

Edit: Went ahead and finished normal. Not sure if I should spend some time to level (currently 32) or just push on. Either way, the WSK trolled me but good:

Code:
Prefix 950 Grand Charm
Keep in Inventory to Gain Bonus
Item Version: Expansion
Item Level: 34
Fingerprint: 0x2b6d7966
[B]1% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items[/B]

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

I've found a NM LK rack that's dropping Greater Claws, is the ilvl high enough for a Bartuc's?

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

I don't know the ALvl of NM LK, but the qLvl of bartuc's is 50, according to the text files.

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

Quickly re-read the racking section in the guide, and it seems so. Racks ilvl = Alvl, and they can drop any Qlvl within that range.

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

Apologies on the double post. Wanted to give you a certain amount of confirmation, in that I racked a qLvL 53 Gavel of Pain in NM LK, giving more credence that I'm reading these txt files correctly.

Incidentally I had a bit of a scare that I might have given you wrong information, as the uniques.txt lists Bartucs with the code:9tw, but the 'type' runic talons. But I did some digging and the code 9tw is greater talons, and the type is simply an entry error that is replicated in later patches as well. This is reinforced by the pre1.09 arreat summit also listing the old bartuc's as using greater talons.

Also wanted to give an update in case anyone else enjoys reading other's progress as much as I do. :)

Racked a Shaftstop after a ridiculous number of hours put in, but an amount of time I'm given to understand I should get used to. My merc should be considerably more sturdy now, and was also able to get him a reasonable weapon upgrade from running the chests a little bit. I'm not sure what I should aim for for a helmet upgrade for him, but at least he's now ready to progress a bit. Maybe Guillames?

His Setup:

Code:
Prefix 867 Great Sword of Blight
One-Hand Damage: 23 to 39
Two-Hand Damage: 48 to 81
Durability: 25 of 50
Required Dexterity: 60
Required Strength: 100
Required Level: 3
Sword Class - Slow Attack Speed
Item Version: Expansion
Item Level: 55
Fingerprint: 0x50e5a3fb
+95% Enhanced Damage
Adds 2-7 poison damage over 3 seconds

poison = stop monster regen

Shaftstop
Mesh Armor
Defense: 642
Durability: 37 of 45
Required Strength: 92
Required Level: 38
Item Version: Expansion
Item Level: 54
Fingerprint: 0x6b243747
+60 to Life
+200% Enhanced Defense
+100 Defense vs. Missile
Damage Reduced by 30%

Prefix 1067 Crown of Balance
Defense: 44
Durability: 50 of 50
Required Strength: 55
Required Level: 3
Item Version: Expansion
Item Level: 33
Fingerprint: 0x45a36166
Lightning Resist +24%
10% Faster Hit Recovery

Running LK superchests for a while, when I was racking the gavel of pain was quite profitable in terms of runes, gems, charms and jewels, but also turned up some nice upgrades that my character can look forward to in a few levels. Their level reqs are actually low-to-mid 40, rather than what ATMA lists:

Code:
Prefix 1007 Amulet of the Tiger
Required Level: 15
Item Version: Expansion
Item Level: 55
Fingerprint: 0x21276244
+30 to Life
All Resistances +24

Prefix 1252 Cloudy Sphere
One-Hand Damage: 11 to 29
Durability: 20 of 35
(Sorceress Only)
Required Dexterity: 20
Required Strength: 20
Required Level: 26
Orb Class - Normal Attack Speed
Item Version: Expansion
Item Level: 55
Fingerprint: 0x3e4dbf51
+11 to Life
+2 to Sorceress Skill Levels

The chests also gave up quite a few interesting circlets->tiaras, but nothing quite right for this character. Still, many +2/3 skill tabs, and quite a few +max damage ones. The exception being:

Code:
Prefix 988 Circlet of Amicae
Defense: 27
Durability: 24 of 35
Required Level: 43
Item Version: Expansion
Item Level: 55
Fingerprint: 0x400ea38a
+112 to Mana
Damage Reduced by 13

Given that I'm using energy shield, that might be worth wearing over 20%FCR and 12% res-all. Main concern there is safety: 0%FCR teleport isn't that great at escaping, and that curse that does terrible things to ppl with more mana than health. Having more mana than health is not something that I've ever encountered before so I have no idea how rough it is in practice but it sounds pretty nasty. It's possible that dropping the mana ring I'm currently wearing might help mitigate that, though at present I don't really have a good alternative to it.

Moving forward I'm thinking of staying at NM LK until I can rack a skulder's at a minimum, but I'm also thinking about trying to get war travs. Silk weave is another consideration, being a good set of boots for progressing forward, but i'm not sure it's worth the effort.

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

I gave up on running the Greater Claw rack pretty quickly because my brain melted.

My Orb/SF sorc is now well into Act 1 Hell. She is clvl 61, has good resists, a mpk/fcr ring, LR charges and has maxed Orb, CM and SF. Ok, the next step? The combination of LR and CM breaks most, if not all, CI right? So I there any need for a backup, perhaps in the Fire tab? Personally, I like to shove the rest of my skill points into Warmth, I've been well and truly spoilt by Insight. What do you guys do at this point?

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

The options I've seen the most are:

Max Warmth

OR

Max Teleport

OR

5-10 in Energy Shield, 10-15 in Warmth

AFAIK, a back-up skill isn't necessary as CM works 100% against immunities (and probably the same for lower resist). Having some lower resist charges does sound like a good idea. I'll have to look for some, though I have a feeling I'll actually end up using them more on lightning immune higher-health targets.

ATM, for myself, I've got 1 in energy shield, and haven't quite decided if I want to go the ES/Warmth route, or leave it as a one point wonder and max teleport. On the teleport side, you essentially have endless teleporting for LK running, and rushing other chars. On the ES Warmth side you have a larger mana pool/regen, more safety, and a bit better full rejuv efficiency. So far I'm leaning towards the latter for a few reasons: safety is pretty hard to come by in 1.07, especially when you're almost always underleveled, and it's still quite relevant in LK where packs often spawn near racks/chests; when racking, you aren't going to want to have to teleport too far/long anyway since the real cost of that is your time, regardless of whether or not you need a potion during the process (and as of yet, I haven't run into a rack in NM where I'd need a potion to complete a run); and the way ES works is one of those unique things about 1.07 that is a very different experience from later patches (resists, and most, if not all other damage reduction come BEFORE applying ES).

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

Thanks Espr. In more than 10 years playing D2 I've never used ES. The ES/Warmth route sounds interesting. I've been pumping up Vit and I now have about 660HP. I suppose it could fairly safely put the remaining stat points into Energy from here, I'm still at base, and use ES.

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

My usual advice is:

- If you plan to play 1.07 a lot gathering nice charms and the great uniques, have 1 warmth, 1 teleport and no ES. Later you can pick a second skill + extra mastery. This will be way more fun since FO will get boring and even if CM pierces CIs, god luck killing a LI CI monster fast... I would have done this if I knew I would stay in 1.07 for so long.

- If you don't plan to get all the nice stuff or just don't want to grind as much until you do get all the stuff, maxing warmth will help a lot, and having a cheaper teleport also. I never used ES in 1.07 iirc.

For both cases, base energy. You'll eventually get items that pump mana. With Rejuv Pots bug, with MPK bugged rings... no need to spend points in energy until you get said items. Also I would never trust ES in 1.07 with all the dangerous monsters and manaburn, but this can be just me.

You'll need to get a smuch life as you can to run her safely.

Re: 1.07 News, Info and Gossip

Thanks guys. To get to ES I'd have to hit three prereqs, so I'm taking the Warmth route with my stat points going into Vit. She is now into Act 2 Hell and is doing fairly well, but the major thing holding her back is the merc. It's actually faster without him. Is there some sort of bug with the Prayer merc? Half the time he has what looks like the Might aura around him, but without the benefits of either aura.

I'm planning my next character it's going to be a necro. I sick and tired of summoners, so I'll go down the P&B route. The idea is to combine Poison Nova, CE and either (both?) Bone Spear or Bone Spirit and use no summons at all. I can see this working pretty well most of the time, but bosses may be problematic. Any suggestions?
