I levelled a bit in Normal LK, but that was more about popping a few chests etc. for some better gear. I then hit Eldritch & Shenk for a bit in A5.

Levelling in 1.07 is very different to 1.10+. You get loads of levels from The Ancients. I have just matted my first sorc at level 59 with terrible gear & resists.

@thefranklin: Which part of the line "I'm not going to install the modified dll" didn't you understand?

I'm not asking how to self MP nor am I going to MP with others as I want to be self found. I'm asking what are the best places to gain experience fast in p1 game. Is WSK & Baal running the only viable option or are there earlier places one can use?

More directed at Pyro than you. If I were you, I would just power through the game and level up in act 1 hell where decent items could drop.

So, after our folly through 1.00, Jcakes and I have decided to move onto 1.07, while we wait for others on Hamachi to get 1.00 sorted out. Playing through these old patches is not very fun by yourself, especially going at it without any itamz.

He suggested that we post in this thread, so, here I am!

Any HC time travelers out there? We'd probably be interested in getting a small group together, as we game fairly consistently evenings for Central Time/Midday for Australia time. Otherwise, just some general suggestions and pointers to get through the game would be much appreciated!

I was working on a Sorceress, she got all the way to Arcane Sanctuary before deeding to what appeared to be an invisible Firewall or something from the Summoner. She was level 23, every point into Vitality, with some life and resistance gear from vendors. I knew I was approaching him, so I stopped to load my belt up with pots, recast my Armor, and all around get prepared, and bam! While I was loading pots into my belt, I died. There was nothing on the screen, and her life dropped sooooooooo fast.

I know Jcakes is working on a Javazon, and he's probably in his mid 20's in about the first half of Act 2. If anyone wants to give HC MP a go, we'd be thrilled to have you! I mostly want to get through the game to craft and such, maybe to a bit of racking (I'm looking at you Shakohat and omgwtfgold Balrog Skin!) and I think Jcakes is interested in racking and grinding out a 99er.

Anyways, I've taken enough of your time. If you're down for some HC MP action, get in touch with Jcakes or myself, we'll make it happen. Any helpful hints/suggestions are more than welcome as well!

PS:
By the way, how hard would it be to update the 1.07 guide, and remove the "You can imbue a craft" section? While that is technically true, the guide gives the impression that the imbue will keep the magic affixes from the craft, but this is not the case. I know there's been discussion of that in this thread, but that line in that guide is the ENTIRE reason I decided to start time travel. I should have done more research on it, but it would be nice to remove blatantly incorrect information from a guide...

Logout: The one thing I keep repeating in this thread is: MDR comes after resistances. Hopefully you have a few extra Nagels from 1.00 for your starter characters.

Also, I agree with what you said on the 1.07 guide. It is confusing by saying "+4 skill" amulet. But what bums me out more is that the programming to make GoMule work with 1.07 and all other (at least expansion) patches is done but not released to us. Or at least me.

Some months ago I talked with one of the gomule developers and he said some tests were needed. Unfortunately I had no more news from him.


WoRG played HC in 1.07, and frozzzen made a character or a couple. I'd make one just to steal HC stuff :p

GoMule would be fantastic, but for now, .dll muling is okay. Granted, once I get to the endgame and am focusing on hoarding crafting supplies, then I could see it being a godsend. Maybe it's time to reach out to this "developer" again an ascertain the fate of it all?

nulio, I'd be willing to pawn some HC stuff off on you, but I'm just starting, which is the main problem I'm having. I find I just don't have as much patience anymore to run around the first half of normal clubbing things until a decent level or some basic equipment is obtained. At least, if we had 3-4 players in a game, it would go MUCH quicker...

For now, I've gone back to 1.00 to do some more gambling, but of course deeded my highest character in a buggy Cow Level, so, I'm starting from scratch there as well... *Sigh*

.dll muling is not needed for 1.07. ATMA isn't as good as GoMule but helps a lot. :)

Yeah, and the first time I load a character with something on it that ATMA doesn't like, *poof* the character is gone. No thanks!

What are Lums for again?

There isn't that many stuff ATMA doesn't like, I've playing 1.07 like hell and never had any problems. And I have several hundreds of hours of 1.07 play.

Just don't pick unique Large Axes (iirc it's the freeze target mod that crashes everything) and if you pick any blue barbarian helms that ATMA doesn't like, just drop the item ingame and everything's good again (I didn't test what mod does this because it's easy to solve).

And if you do pick something that makes you lose everything, I think that's why backups exist.

Oh, and don't make any RW. But they all suck in 1.07 anyway.

Logout: My regular path through normal includes 7 other level ones sitting there to make it p8. That will put you at around level 40-42 at the end of normal, which is good enough to get me through hell. Being HC, you might want to do some of that in HC, too, to have a good level at the beginning of hell. Otherwise I beat hell at level 70 or so, playing p1 through nm and hell.

Ah ok, and how exactly you forward items from 1.07 to 1.13?

Easiest way i guess is to make a 1.07-character in ATMA. Drag over what you want to forward into that character. Than put it in into the save-folder in d2-folder. (1.13) Start d2, wolla!

Create a 1.07 Character, mule in the item you want to forward, move the character to the 1.13 save folder, open the character in 1.13.

Excal, I'd read the 1.07 guides to help you starting the 1.07 adventure :)
