Pretty sure you need magic items, but I could be wrong...

And as long as you don't kill the Cow King you can open up the portal as much as you would like! :)

1 - All the crafts require magic items, except for the ones that require a "weapon". Here anything equippable as a weapon can be used, even quest items and throwing potions. Save your perfect ruby, any ruby will do. It was changed to perfect gems only in 1.08 or 1.09

2 - As long as the Cow King remains alive in each game, the portal can still be opened, even if it's not a multiplayer game.

Found a stable Berserker Axe rack in LK. Have hit it enough to gain 5 x 4os, 5 x 5os, 3 x 6os and 7 x Eth Axes so far.

Not one of the Eth axes has spawned with sockets so far.

Do they and is this just bad luck so far?

If I was to use the cube socket recipe, can I send the Eth axe forward to 1.13 first then do the socketing? (I have only a couple of Amn's in 1.07 for the recipe.)

Someone check me, but afaik, you can't get more than 4 sockets on anything in 1.07. That said, you're just getting unlucky - they can and will spawn eth/socketed.

Feel free to punch holes in 1.13. The stat you want is from 1.07 eth, not 1.07 sockets

BAs can spawn with up to 6 sockets in 1.07, and yes they can drop from the rack with both eth and sockets. Finding 7 eth non-socketed ones isn't really out of the ordinary though.

Forwarding them to 1.13 before cube socketing is definitely a good idea.

Thanks Dazliare and Fabian, will give it a few more runs, but then I think I'll just forward a couple of Eth ones and hope for some cube luck.

dragon, pretty much what everyone does then :) Having an eth 5os axe drop from the rack is pretty rare, most of them are cubed.

I can see the positives of Racking, but jeeze it can be trying on the patience!!!

Its nice to have some other stuff to hit while racking, that always made it easier for me.

I think I forwarded like 30 eth BAs and never found a 4/5 socket eth one naturally.

Wrong.. you can get up to 6 sockets on many Elite Axes or Bows.
and spawning both ethereal and socketed items is very rare but sometimes they occur.

Thanks for clearing that up. I guess I'm thinking of war pikes/gpas that can't spawn more than four.

IIRC I read a thread that had worked out 1.13 armours were as good or better than 1.07 equivilents, is that true?

True except for normal white (or socketed) armors (not paladin shields, those are worse).

The main reason being the cube eth bug in 1.11+

EDIT: If, and only if, the eth armor is to be used for a runeword with no enhanced defense (such as treachery), then the 1.07 ones will win out. They can still be ethbugged in 1.11+, but due to how eth spawns (as 50%ED) they will have max+1 base defense. Should there be any, even a little enhanced defense bonus in the runeword, 1.07 armors lose again.

I was referring to using them as RW bases, should have stated that one.

So all those 1.07 AP's I hordered are no use for Fort / Duress etc. Bugger. Looks like I need to find a stable AP rack in 1.13.

How about RW's like Dragon which just adds +xxx defence rather than % enhanced defence?

If it's +x defense (like on enigma) then it's better to use 1.07 eth, cubed in 1.11+
If it's a non-eth armor, then it doesn't matter (save for paladin shields, which are horrible in 1.07 and stay that way when forwarded)

It is far harder to find stable racks in later patches, and LK can't have Archon Plates drop from racks in 1.10+, which makes it difficult to find a rack close enough to a waypoint for it to be semi-stable.

This is a very silly question:

Where might my 1.07 ATMA stashes be?

I got a new comp a year or so ago and I can find my 1.07 characters but not my stashes :/
