Hehe- just found my first ever 1.07 unique, a Skewer of Krinitz- entirely useless, but still a gold!

Oddly enough, I still have yet to find a rare, at lvl 12 and Catacombs 2 WP. is that common?

I think it is Scottie , I have also just started in 1.07 (fishymancer) its slow going. He is now in the Canyon, lvl 19, so far 2 rares, 2 sets and 1 unique(Umbrel Disk from Andarial).

ITD and +10 strength make it a decent twinking weapon from L10 to L18ish.

S_words the axe Frenzy barb ripped through NM. Diablo? 1 full rejuv. Ancients? 3 full rejuvs. Baal? 1 full rejuv. He's level 56, and I'm considering taking him through the Cows, but I think I may just put Hawkmail on him and run Glacial Trail to Ancient's Way until I hit L64 and can equip dual crafted Berzerker axes. Merc is using 24% resist all/24 PDR diadem, Rattlecage, and Goldstrike Arch. Unfortunately I socketd the +2 barb skills/+2 BO/+2 BC/+1 Frenzy hat and realized that I'd moved all my 1.07 Sol runes to 1.11. He has 75/4/59/-22 resists in Hell w/o adding any new charms (and I have a 16% LR/7% FHR large charm just waiting to for a new home...). Once I get to L61 he gets a Cruel Naga of the Vampire and the nice 4% LL/15% resist all ring my Amazon and Assassin sported for endgame gear. Until then he's using a rare cleaver w/7% mana leach, +1 barb skills, and decent damage to go with the 6 PEmerald Naga.

The Fire/Summoner Druid will be next, so I'll have plenty of questions when I get him to NM. I'm going to try the Barb Merc/Oak Sage and/or HotW out for a bit in NM. My necro will probably be a Golem/Bone Spear/Poison Dagger weirdo, haven't decided on a merc. The Paladin may be a Conviction/Zeal + Fist of the Heavens build if I can find a fast, multi-elemental damage weapon, and I'll try an A3 merc before I audible to a Flame Arrow Rogue.

Greetings. I just found these forums and this thread so I promise I will keep looking for the answer to my ridiculous question---

I have D2LOD installed--I bought the battle chest and didn't know that the version of Diablo I would get would be only shareware, oh well.

Anyway, enjoying the game (hard to believe I hadn't bought it years ago). BUT I cannot get the "party screen" to come up! I can't give my poor little hirelings any armor, potions, etc. (Those poor girls from act 1!!!) I have actually kept the same guy in act 2--so far.

Everything else works just fine, no problems, no issue with menu, crashes, nothing. I have tried resetting the "P" to be a different key and nothing works! I haven't been able to find any kind of "technical" help yet and end up on those forums and sites that kind of scare me (since I am a single player kind of gamer and am afraid of battlenet until I know what the heck I am doing).

Any advice is welcome, now to start poking around this forum a bit more.

ps yes i am playing 1.07 and i just found the noob sub forum and will post over there. i just go so excited to find a forum that wasn't a 3 year old archive.lol.

Did you press 'O' to try to make the merc's screen pop up? If you did, check in the options how (and if) the merc screen is hotkey'd.

If this both doesn't work, my guess is that you've unchecked the 'Expansion' check box while creating your character; this makes it a Classic character, who cannot give there mercs any gear.

Thanks for the welcome and the response, yes I think I did uncheck expansion (so I have option to convert character to expansion in the starting screen where I pick character)--I probably was thinking, well who knows!
Something to look forward to!

I have found a few rare items (yellow) and one unique (Hotspur Boots), no set items. From browsing this site (this is a massive site, good grief! I am used to small places like Oblivion forums) there is so much more to this game than meets the eye. So glad I started playing it!

@ransom- the "party" screen will only come up when playing multiplayer. As arcardo mentioned, the "o" button makes your merc screen pop up- but it's nothing to worry about that you can't see the party screen when playing SP :wink3:

S_words the Frenzy Barb donned Hawkmail to run through the ice caverns at the end of NM to level up to 59 and equip the 4% LL/15% resist all ring. I miraculously found 2 Sol runes running a few times through Nilthi's Temple and LK on rack runs and on Cows with my Strafeazon, so the barb hat is complete. I tried out NM cows which wasn't too much fun, but not too bad either. No deaths since NM A3, and I think he hasn't had more than 2 deaths so far (although he did die in Normal...the shame). He'll be ready for Hell at L61 once he gets the Cruel Naga of the Vampire so he can continue to get decent experience. Once he gets the dual Berzerker Axes, I suspect he will tear through the rest of the game. For PIs I haven't been switching to a big 2h axe, just relying on the regular axes and switching from Frenzy to Berzerk for the R mouse button--this has worked just fine in NM. I've got a crafted Feral axe w/IAS and a Feral axe w/1-340 lightning damage ready if I need to go for the heavy hitters in Hell. War Cry is turning into the MVP skill for this build.

Fireface the Volcano/Dire wolf druid did much the same, running A5 normal to get up to L32, and then ran A1 NM through Radament's Lair to get to L36. Currently wearing a rare +2 summoning Skills/+3 Grizzly antlers w/Spirit Shroud, Sigon's Shelter, Magefist, Culwen's Point, Nightsmoke, a pair of rare rings with FCR and resists, and Infernostride. Yeah, I wanted to play with the unique toys. Culwen's Point is the star here, with FHR, IAS, and +AR. The Dire wolves are rediculous--it's like having 4 mercs. NM looks to be a breeze. I'm concerned about PIs in Hell: going with Volcano seems to be the best choice in dealing with bosses who decimate the wolves, but there doesn't seem to be a good area-affect spell that deals w/PIs. Death Slashers are a pain in the butt but they don't tend to move around too much, however Itchies boss packs with a scary aura seem like they will present a major problem.

The 300 dmg Cruel Executioner sword did not have GIAS (confused it with a Ferocious Great Sword of Quickness that I have stashed), but it got 4 sockets from Larzuk. Once I get to L43, I'll try out the Barb merc and see how he stacks up against an A2 Might Merc. The sword will then retire with a Conviction/Vengeance/FotH Paladin with a few points in Zeal for crowd control.

A big hinderance/boredom issue is A5 leveling up so severely that A1 in the next difficultly is 10ish levels above the character. This is especially a problem with the transition from NM to Hell. It makes A1 grind out, as there is little experience gain and requires rerunning A5 to level up--anybody have some suggestions for this?

And finally, a little icing on the cake: S_words found a Burning Grand Charm of Maiming (+20 max dmg) while leveling, which makes an Enchantress very tempting in 1.11 after the completion of this septeverate.

25k gold. Bring a +3 Tornado or +3 'Geddon 3os forward (esp. if you have Earthshifter). Get Larzuk to socket a +3 elemental/+X Tornado or +2 Druid skills/+X Tornado pelt for 1.07, unless you really want to turn this into Beauty for levels 30-42 on an Elemental Druid.

I would sell it. If you are planning on playing a Geddon druid, I assume you'll be wereform, and you'd be much better off with a +2 skill tree/+ Geddon (or better yet, Shockwave) pelt than getting 50% MF and some FR with "Beauty". If you are playing an elemental druid, wait for +3 Tornado to do something with. Sometimes the best use for Os is a PRuby or PSapphire, anyways.

Unless you collect every half-decent piece of equipment (or have few pieces of Druid equipment), it probably won't get played. Turn it into half a merc ressurection or half a gambled ring.

I got a question about racks: I rolled an LK map where one rack drops magical Tiara's. How come it doesn't drop white ones?

Also, I got a Nihlathak map where I racked two Death's Hand (set Leather Gloves) in three runs. I rerolled this map, so I can't test any further.

So, what's the deal with this? Do circlet type helms always drop magical? Where the Death's Hand drops pure coincidance?

Not sure if I should post this in the trading forums.. but I've been posting most 1.07 progress here.

I was wondering if anybody would be interested in trading racked items. Set for set, Unique for unique. I've got a laquered plate rack, and already racked 2 Tal's armors. I don't think I need anymore of them, but maybe if somebody has a corona rack, we can make a trade? I'd much rather keep racking my laquered plate than try to re-roll another map.

Not sure, but I think it's fine to post this in the trading forums. Just make sure you make it clear you're trading 1.07 items. Also be sure to create a trading profile, if you don't have one yet.

I don't trade at all, so I'm not sure about how stuff works here.
