@ Zarfen: Weapon recipes can use any quality, but the rest requires magic items.

The best way to increase your AR is to get items with +dex or just spend stats there. I don't know if "visionary" prefix existed in 1.07, but a circlet or blood helm with that might save you a lot of hassle.

I was also curious if this ATMA readout is accurate. In-game it just says faster/fastest..

IIRC it's correct, and the reason why it's so sought after. A (cheesy) way to check would be to intentionally dupe it, bring forth the dupe, then delete it.

I haven't read anything about this, but I have just gone back to NM meph runs and I seem to have passed a RARE item breakpoint. He has dropped 100% rares only so far on about 10 runs. NO sets, NO uniques. MF atm is 303%, we'll see if this keeps up..

Edit: Well, I did ~20 runs, and he dropped zero white/grey/blue/green items. It seems to be past some sort of breakpoint. He did drop 3 uniques, along with the 100+ rares.

@Apis: What wagnala said (charms can get up to 4%MF regardless of size) and congratz on the IST and Valk wing - both great items. Re bringing the ist forward, I'd think twice before doing so, as once its forward you can't bring it backward. You may want to use it in say a Gull dagger if you ever find one.

I did know about the rare breakpoint, but I'm not sure I've ever posted about it due to the fact that most people (myself included) would much rather have sets from NM bosses for the chance of a set amulet. IIRC the best chances of getting a set from NM bosses are at ~125-130%MF. Any more than that and your chance to get sets drops as the chance for rares increase.

Re the ring cubing, its all based on chance. You may find three in 80 tries or none in 200. Your chance per individual attempt is 1:125. I quite like cathans as twinking jewelery - the +str and lifeleach are great for a starting melee character, added resists would just be gravy.

Due to the current interest in crafting, I propose we have a crafting mini-comp. I think it should be limited to weapons as that seems to be what most people spend most time crafting, but if there is enough interest we could expand it to other items such as gloves/belts/boots/jewelery etc.

I'm thinking of a simple scoring system such as 1 point per 10% ED over 250 (or 300?), 1 point per 10 elemental damage (with a 1pt bonus if its cold damage), 1 point per 10 +min/max damage (fools is counted here as if it were held by a lvl 75 character), 2 pts per 10IAS and 1 pt per socket. This may not be completely accurate as to which weapons is truely the best, but it should give a fair approximation. What do you think? We could limit it to crafts in the next week or so, a limited number of new crafts (say 10, 20 or 50), or any crafts at all (including existing crafts).

Winner would get bragging rights.

In order to further my own understanding of what is craftable when, I would ask that you record the highest alvl affix that spawns on your craft and what item/clvl you used to get it. In order to make this simpler, a subcompetition could be for the highest alvl. (alvls can be found here: http://www.purediablo.com/items/modifiers-new/xsuffixes.shtml and here http://www.purediablo.com/items/modifiers-new/xprefixes.shtml (of course the actual affixes aren't shown on the item so you may have to guesstimate what you've got). I'd be particularly interested if anyone got the highest min dmg/elemental affixes.

What do you think - interested?

BTW when shopping, how is ilvl (higherst possible alvl I can get on a craft using that waepon) determined? iirc it's something like when gambling, ie +x/-y from clvl, but you can just look it up in atma if you are unsure, atma views correct ilvl for 1.07 items right? And I also keep hearing that hydra bows has high enough qlvl to always be able to get cruel, but does it have high enough qlvl to get all of the sought after affixes?
I've probably been told this over and over, but how is qlvl connected to ilvl (alvl in this specific case)?

I also think we should make it only new crafts for a limited period if it's to be some kind of contest, otherwise you old time 1.07'ers can just pop in and show your old ubercrafts and pwn xD

According to the guide, the formula to create ilvl used when crafting is ilvl*0.66 or clvl*0.66 whichever is higher, but my own experience shows that it is always clvl*0.66, so the ilvl of the input item seems to be irrelevant. But to answer your question, shopped items are 5 (or it could be 4 - not really sure) levels higher than your clvl.

I'm also pretty sure that hydra bows have high enough qlvl to get cruel at any ilvl yes (see my post with the 300+ED bow). Whether it has enough to get grandmasters/transcendence/highest elemental affixes I'm less sure (one of the reasons I'm interested in this competition).

In answer to how qlvl is related to alvl, no-one (AFAIK) is really sure in 1.07. The formulas for 1.09+ don't seem to work (people have posted +3skill tree 20IAS Vbone gloves which aren't possible at the available ilvls in 1.07), but in 1.09+ terms, you either want a very high or very low qlvl as this increases the possible alvl. If you have a very low qlvl you want as high a clvl as possible, if you have a very high qlvl then clvl is often (but not always) irrelevant.

Hi just started playing 1.07 classic what would be the best weapon for a barb. I'm thinking about making a conc/zerk goldfind barb. any info on barbs in 07 classic would be good thanks. Havent played classic in a long time so I don't really know whats good Thanks in advance.

Thanks guys. I really didn't know Valk wing would be so desired. I just thought it was cool for the different mods. I haven't found any MF charms yet, didn't know about the 70% chance though. Thanks Yiuman.

Well, as I've said before, I don't think anyone knows exactly how crafting in 1.07 works, but under the 1.09 system (and using ilvl=0.66*clvl), it would be impossible to get a high enough ilvl to override the qlvl, so clvl wouldn't affect the alvl, theoretically you could get the same craft at lvl 1 as you could at lvl 99. You do however want to be 75+ to maximise your chances of getting 4 extra affixes though. Also, being a higher level will never hurt (whilst being at a lower level might).

I'll repeat myself though - I don't know exactly how crafting works in 1.07 (if anyone could crack the code to find out, or tell me how I'd go about doing that I'd be very very happy - RTB, anyone?) but I think what I've said above is correct.
