OT: The Daily Thread

@hackedagainanda - depending on previous consumption, cutting out soda will do huge things to improve your health. Best of luck on the exercise regiment; something is better than nothing.

@T72on1 - I echo the sentiments for Anthony Bourdain. I feel for the folks that knew him, and hope they can find peace.

@Vildecor - I used to go to the Outer Banks as a kid every year for family vacations, sometimes big gatherings. Those houses are huge. Went with a bunch of friends while I was in college too. That area is really fun - get off the computer and enjoy it! :)

RL: I have my computer hooked up to a TV. It works great, and although I have to change the aspect ratio for D2 play, there is a button for that so it is easy. I also enjoy watching family feud while I run on the treadmill. The other week the remote dropped on the treadmill and stopped working. I ordered one on Amazon for $6 - awesome. It came in the mail today. I put in batteries and it did not work. D'oh!
The batteries were bad, and the old remote still works.

D2: Might play a bit more of my single-pass untwinked Sorc. She is in the start of A3, and has cleared the Marsh and (most) all of the Forest, about to head into the Jungle. I dropped from /p3 to /p1 and switched out some MF gear in the second-to-last tomb at the end of A2, deciding I would rather Guardian her than deed her. At the least I will fire up D2 for a couple of quick Meph runs with my Bonemancer.

OVG: Maybe Divinity: Original Sin with the wife if I don't get sucked into the above.

RL: adulting.

D2: not really,

OVG: Shiny Larvitar time in 7 hours. Please let the rain stay away this round......

@JoeBruce I think you are mixing me up with @darkstarhub :). I have no clue whoe Anthony Bourdain is ...

Indeed I was; my apologies, friend. Well, since I'm here:

RL: One more day until the end of my work week. Hope to catch some World Cup on my days off, but games are all pretty early here in the US western mountains. Would love to watch Germany/Mexico tomorrow, and might be able to view it when I get home from work. I will just have to resist the temptation to keep tabs on the live game.

D2: I couldn't really get into it last night, but I bounced around with a few chars. Might go do the same right now.

OVG: Not likely.

RL: Hectic month. No move necessary, wife took a promotion at her current work. My car died in a not so pleasant area of Detroit, where I sat for 3 hours waiting on AAA. Bright side: bought a "new" car.

D2: Not much. Ran Infernal Pit chest for a little while. No runes, but a Tals armor popped from chest, so that was nice. Just missing the amulet for the set, now.

OVG: Bob the Builder stacking game on my daughters tablet. Haha

RL: I recently completed the PhD that I've been working on the last few years.

D2: All I have are PvP characters left after giveaways, but I've lost the muscle/visual memory required to even play decently. That's what happens when you don't play for more than a couple of hours per year.
I have been working on my own mod, but I doubt I'll ever play it all the way through.

OVG: I've been playing a lot of N/N++ for several years now. I guess I've always been overly obsessed with one video game at a time.

If Blizzard's new Diablo project happens to be Diablo 4, and it completely ignores the existence of Diablo 3 in terms of skill and item systems, then I will likely try my hand at Diablo again.

Daily thread at page 4? What is happening to this place?

RL: had a really painful neck and shoulders since Sunday, but it seems to finally get better. Good thing, because on Saturday me and 2 running buddies of mine will be doing our first ever self-organised ultra trail: 55K in one of the most beautiful woods in Belgium. Should be loads of fun.

Other than that it's all about the world championship football these days. No wonder, since our 3 boys are very fond of the game, playing it themselves as well, and Belgium doing really well. Looking forward to the clash with Brazil on Friday, although it will obviously be very hard to beat them.

O yes, and I really don't like my job anymore, but don't know what I do want to do. Good thing it's summer holiday, so I have a few days off here and there, and then my actual vacation in August.

D2: almost nothing at all for the last two weeks, due to the WC football and the incredibly good weather. Still looking for that final Sur in LK with my untwinked 99er HC Paladin, with some runs of my untwinked 99er Sorc in between. Also thinking about making a Doom/Phoenix Werewolf to have something to do besides those two characters.

OVG: nope.

...

OVG: nope.

Wow, this may sound strange, but I really didn't see it coming. But as I started to get a little bored by all those LK and Nihl runs, I suddenly had to start thinking about D3 again. So yesterday afternoon I fired up the game and dabbled a little in S14 with a multishot DH. Had a lot of fun actually.

O yes, the neck and shoulders. Yesterday evening and night things went completely the wrong way for some reason, so the run tomorrow probably won't happen. I hope the other guys can do it the week after, so we can still do it. Going to see a doctor in a bit.

Hope you feel better.

RL: in one of the two states I've never visited in the continental US. North Dakota is actually pretty interesting. Heading home starting today.

D2: nope.

OVG: main concern is where I will be on Saturday when shiny Articuno is released for three hours. I may need to find a major city so I can raid and get one. Sunday sunglasses squirtle is released so I'll definitely be in a park somewhere....

Good job against Brazil - tasty semi-final right there! See you in Luhzniki?

RL: I graduated! I arrived in Cambridge on Friday and start my internship tomorrow - things are good. I also got an award as the highest performing student, which is nice because I get £100 :P Holy crap Cambridge is beautiful. I haven't gone punting yet (not had time as I'm sorting everything out), but that is on my list. I did manage a walk along the river though. Also, Bletchley Park is high on my list. No word on my New Zealand scholarship yet (not expecting it quickly anyway...), but I've applied for one at Edinburgh and my previous summer supervisor contacted me about going back to Glasgow, which I'm also interested in.

D2: Probably none over summer - very sad :( I was hoping to do my weekly gaming group, but that plan has gone down the toilet.

OVG: Nope... I might try and get involved in a tabletop group, maybe...

Congrats, Kitteh!

Those scholarly garments (Kitteh's Robes, +3 to all skills) just cries out for a pointy hat too, in my opinion...:D Worldwide, schools and universities together with judges are always so hardcore about their robes, yet the university where I graduated (in law, even) had none of the sort, boo...

Who's that scared looking amateur wizard? :p

RL: New job is going slow. Programmers are doing an entirely new GUI for the application and it's proving to be more work than they thought. We have to be done with everything, including testing (which is where i come in) in September and we haven't even gotten the first screen yet. On the upside: it gives me time to delve into automated testing, which was one of the reasons for getting a new job in the first place. It's a slow process because quite a bit of it requires programming too, which i've picked up a bit over the years, but i'm far from a programmer. Still i'm making progress so that's nice.

OVG: Dividing my time between Destiny 2 and ESO. Only doing the milestones in the first one in order to get a higher light lvl. In september there's gonna be a new release, but i'm in doubt whether or not to get it. It seems like more and more solo players are being put behind so i'm not sure how long this will still be worth it as a solo player. Probably i'll still get it just to try it out, but we'll see.

ESO i'm doing tons of stuff and i'm barely making a dent in it because it's f-ing huge! Tons of quests, crafting, collecting, ect. I can probably play this for a few more years before being even close to done with 1 or 2 chars.

Congrats @Kitteh. Enjoy you summer of fun

@Maltatai

Indeed boo, you bust your ass for years. When I graduated in the last century we had robes and the silly mortor board. Actually had to walk down the street from my uni to the town hall where the presentation was. There was at least 200 grads if IRC so I wasn't singled at for looking nerdy

RL : been busy with home restoration and family stuff, work and below.

D2: It taken a back seat to other activities below, I will come back to this though

OVG: yes, been playing the ancient LotR BFME 2 1.00 (classic), both SP, closed network MP skirmishes and some PvP. Enjoying the building aspects for that series and loving the replay element of the MP games. Combining that with the familiar hero building, micro management and the powers in game play. While some of the factions are OP, at least in each game all players start on zero

Congrats Kitteh !!

RL: did run on Saturday, as my neck and shoulders got better again. Still not completely 100%, but it's slowly getting back to normal. The run was a lot of fun, and very beautiful, although we shortened it a bit, to 48K, as my buddy was really struggling from the 30K mark. Probably not enough mileage the last few weeks / months and overall a bad day.

Beating Brazil was amazing, but I think in the end deserved. So much looking forward to the clash with France this evening. It's going to be a very long day at work I'm afraid, as I'm already a bit nervous for the game.

D2: nothing the last few days, and probably not anymore until the RF/MF tournament starting on Saturday, because of ...

OVG: D3. Really like my MS DH. Already got good progress through the Season Journey, not in the least because of some help of fellow Basiners. As much fun as I'm having with it right now though, I don't think it will last very long. There's only so much to do in D3 before the game grows old I'm afraid.

OMG 48km? That's amazing

RL: nope.

D2: a little at times

Pokemon Go: tried going to Chicago without a ticket. Didn't work very well. Did pick up some stuff though like a shiny minun and alaloan Geodude/ diglett. This weekend is Zapdos raid time for three hours. With the rewards from go fest being active this week, most of my time will be devoted to it with the good weather we have for the next few days. Shoutout to Jcakes for friending me and sending me stuff from Australia. If only I could get a kangaskhan....

RL: We're fairly busy at work, and the power had to go out and mess up our internal servers once it came back on. Wonderful. At least it's payday today, I'll be picking up a bottle of red wine on the way home.

D2: Going to start my Untwinked Level 99 Challenge tonight with a Paladin, alongside the aforementioned bottle of wine. I decided on the Paladin having been inspired by a YouTube video about a SPF-friendly (I assume), untwinked Zealer and how far he carried him with self-found items. I haven't yet decided if mine will be a Zealer the whole way, but it's on the table. I do know that I'm starting off with Holy Freeze for Normal, as my last SP Paladin I played before I scrapped <a banned mod> absolutely steamrolled through Normal using it.
