1.07 News, Info and Gossip

I was shopping Anya for like an hour the other day looking for a shield and also looked at claws: to me it felt like staffmods appeared less often than in later patches. I do know that normal claws can't spawn with staff mods and not all exceptional can either. either. Didn't take specific note whether the claws I looked at could potentially spawn with staffmods, but the character is level 87, so upgrades to exceptional/elite should be frequent enough.

I might be remembering my shopping experience from later patches wrong, but to me it felt like a difference. Does anyone know if chances of staffmods appearing on claws were changed at any time?

The base item type of the Viper Amulet isn't amulet, it is "top of the horadric staff", which can be equipped as an amulet, but it isn't "official". That's one reason why it can't be crafted. The other one is that it isn't blue, which is a requirement as well for any non-weapon.

Horadric Malus, Hellforge Hammer, Horadric Staff, Staff of Kings, Khalim's Flail, Khalim's Will and Gidbinn all work though.

I have no idea if they can still be used for their intended quests, or if they disappear or become non-equippable after completing their respective quests.

Sorry for double post, but I just gotta know...

It seems Crushing Blow or Deadly Strike (or Critical Strike) is a PI solution? My lvl 53 fresh rushed barb can kill the Maulers in hell Bloody Foothills, and his ONLY elemental damage comes from Raven Frost. He does wear Guillaume's Face for headger, but I can't for the life of me understand why I can kill those PI monsters so quickly.

Also, leveling a might merc from lvl 33 to lvl 53 takes ONE semi-full clear of NM Bloody Foothills! Dual Bloodletter, 1pt Frenzy and some damage charms works like... wait for it... a charm!

The sick merc leveling is well known, but I can't remember CB being THAT overpowered....

Yes, I remember reading (from this thread) that CB breaks PI (go through, or however it works).

I don't know any details though.

Maybe this will finally beat Mara's? This was created with a test char under ideal circumstances. But it's possible.
Pre 1.09, the prismatic amulet added resistance onto a random amulet as opposed to giving the Prismatic prefix. It adds 36 to all res and 36 again for poison (legacy of D2C). This means, in a perfect roll, we could get a double "Pri-Chromatic" amulet. If you were lucky enough to roll a rare, it would have 56 res, but could get 1 skills/2 skill tab. It's capped to level 66, so no +2 skills.

I think I'm going to save all gems now :)

You forgot to mention that each res roll is variable.. from 6 (?) to 36 or so. Poison applies this roll twice which is why it's higher.

edit: unless it's different in 1.08 but I don't know anything about ammy/ring crafts other than the 25 fcr ammies

Hence why I said 'ideal' circumstances. You get 20-25 from chromatic, 6-36 (12-72 for poison) for the ammy. A good suffix such as PDR/MDR/FCR and it would be gg. I tested in 08 however, this recipe I believe is the same 1.00-1.08. I don't think you can roll a Mara/Highlords though, which sucks.

No I don;t you can get either of those... though you can get saracen's chance I think. I've made a few hundred prismatic ammies so far. Nothing insane but plenty usable ones

I gave 1.13 LK runs a shot yesterday. And, I'm kinda disappointed..

In 1.07 like 1/5 charms is something interesting. In 1.13 it feels like 1/50.. :(

And, with all the pics, I thought HRs would be raining from the sky. I managed a Gul, Pul and a handful of Lum-Lem in about 3 hours. Dunno if that's good or not?

I will admit the jewels are considerably better than 1.07. I wondered how you guys have so many Ruby/fervor etc.. :p

I need to cube up another 1.13 Ber for 'Infinity' or find 2x Lo in 1.07 for beta 'Bramble'. I wonder which would be faster?

0 durability in 1.07 doesn't break weapons? Currently running around in NM bloody foothills with frenzy and 2x bloodletter, and even when 0 durability, they still function? They do turn red on the little durablility mannequin thing, but NOT in the inventory, and they can even be re-equipped and still function?

I assume this is a known bug, but does that mean ethereal weapons are king, even when they run out?

EDIT: They did eventually break for "real", but I don't really know what caused it. It happened at the same time as a mana burn, but that may have been a coincidence, as the next time I got mana burned, the bug was still in effect.

It depends on your average runtimes. If you are al pari to fastest runners aka ~20s running, which means you did ~540 runs. In that case your luck is not terrible, but is below expectations.
If your runtimes are more like 35 seconds, then you did ~310 runs in which case your luck is just slightly below expectations, or pretty fine overall and you just need to do more running.

Overall, I don't think that you will have solid chance of finding "runerain" type of drops below 10 hours of playing no matter what area in the game you run.

Never heard of this... maybe it's a barb bug?

Try to replicate :D

It could be that bloodletters have some (very well) hidden +durability, which isn't hidden in later patches. Very strange, though.

Haven't finished reading this thread, but I'll toss out a question.

So I been running the nihi hall areas in 1.07 and picked up a bunch of gcs with bad mods. I remember reading somewhere that they are like "Baal" charms when forwarded to later patches. When I checked in atma, they are labelled as ilvl 90 and I know you need ilvl 91 to spawn +45 skillers. Are these 1.07 charms useless then or is this a case of ATMA mislabelling?

Appreciate the help guys.

if you are in nihl's hall they should be 99 iirc. check again?

I don't run baal and have tons of ilvl 99 GCs, and have run TONS of nihl chests... so I'm sure they came from there

EDIT: You're probably looking at charms from monsters, which I don't know the level of (check ATMA). Objects drop ilvl 99, though.
EDIT2: If you want to get high lvl GCs as fast as possible, then do RoF superchests and/or nihl objects. Pretty sure cows drop them, too.

Ah I see. It's got to be the special chests in the hall? That could be it. I'll check out RoF, thanks.

I was running LK and council for a bit and decided to pick up all the GCs I could find. Lo and behold, a few ended up as ilvl 93 though I'm unsure where precisely I got them. Pretty sure they were from act 3 though.

@DiabloTwoinDC I ran at ~37 secs at my first attempts. That prompted me to do a bit of math. If your runtime is 40 secs, you should get a rune Pul+ once every 90 minutes. Mal is the most common followed closely by Gul then Sur and Pul (14, 13, 12 and 11 patterns respectively). This corresponds pretty well with what I've seen (timewise - been lucky with runes). Ofc hitting Pul patterns repetitively instead of Ohm/Lo/Sur/Ber patterns will make it seem like a long time between decent runes.
Contrary to you, I found alot of great charms. About one in 25 is a keeper I'd say, and I estimate a little below 1 charms per run (only picking up small and grand ones). But luck is a huge factor I guess.
