Anything Goes D2 Lounge!

Having done lots of CS runs on my Blizz Sorc, I was actually surprised with how I didn't have much trouble staying alive with her. That's with some 2200 life after BO. In AT for example, a bad teleport killed me from time to time. In CS, I always seemed to be able to get the next teleport off before problems could arise. Guess I have been lucky so far. Or is it because Hammerdins have to be in the heat of the battle to be efficient?

While questing through Act 3, I noticed this chest with adjacent campfires next to it. First yesterday evening in my weekly group game, today with my SP Necro.

It's probaly nothing, but the setup seemed somewhat peculiar to me. So the obvious question: is that some kind of special chest, or just a regular one?

Edit: ok I know, those are not campfire, just fires. But still ...

That is another superchest, it has 10 Ber, 4 Sur, 7 Lo, 13 Ohm patterns, but is not worth to run anyway.

I'm just kidding. I have no idea is that chest a superchest or only a chest.

Only mildly related but I wanted to share it. The past couple of days maybe the last week or so I've occasionally noticed that my mouse precision was really bad. It seemed random, like sometimes I would do okay and other times I was really struggling and I wasn't sure what was going on. It was really really upsetting me because my runs were going so poorly, they weren't comfortable at all like how they were in the past, and my arm/hand was getting tired and tenser than usual.

Well anyways, I thought it was a number of issues, I thought maybe my game was lagging, so I'm like checking processes running. Then I thought maybe my mouse's sensor was off, so I was trying to clean that. And I cleaned off my mousepad. Well I got to the point where I thought my mouse was going bad.

So today I was struggling again, and furiously cleaning my mousepad because I thought there was junk on it. Well I get down and see it from a low angle and notice there's two giant areas that are super worn down (TOO MANY RUNS). It's this weird coated metal mousepad from rocketfish that I've always really liked. Obviously my mouse sensor was struggling because of the surface. So I just flipped it over and problem solved :/ seriously. I'm really happy that everything is back to normal but I was getting SO MAD struggling for so many hours, and it turns out it was this one simple thing.

Okay back to running...

Edit: Like thinking back I'm only getting more upset with myself because I know that I've had some issues for quite a long time, maybe even months. I suppose it depended on where I was holding my mouse (over the worn down areas vs not worn down areas). SO LONG. If anyone has any mousepad recommendations, I'm all ears.

:( wrist problems = minimal D2 for me. Bought a support thing for my wrist which should help a bit but who knew being a part-time cashier would be so brutal. I will still try to play a bit but maybe not much/at all on days that I work. If only full-time tutoring was an easier thing to manage (hard to get morning/afternoon hours + seasonal to begin with). I'm hoping this problem will go away with some time and care and that it's just me doing a little too much twisting/rotation to scan barcodes (sigh).

Even running LK hurts fairly quickly because I use TK a lot (and therefore hotkeys) :/
Only my left wrist hurts... mouse hand it perfectly fine
Wish my barb was geared up so I could just hold RMB and kill cows :p

one thing i gotta say boys is its crazy to think ere playing single player! just shows how awesome this game truly is :D

No mouse pad problems here. But a while back I noticed that my keyboard looked pretty dirty/greasy. Only it would not come out when I tried to clean it. Then I realized it was only the left side of the space bar, ASDFG, left-shift, and QWERT. All the D2 playing has worn off the plastic finish on those keys, making them smooth, and greasy looking. :P

You nearly got me there. I would be suspicious if it were anybody else, but from Gripphon ...

Would I be able to tell if it's a regular chest or a special one from it's drops?

Now that's interesting. I found my lastest batch of LK runs to be very crappy as well. Lots of misclicks. I should check my mousepad when I get home, but I would be very surprised if it's not completely worn down. IIRC I have another one somewhere, should try that.

I guess special chests before act 5 may drop only blue or rare items. If it is special chest, then it will never drop sets, uniques, white or grey items, and will always drop either all blue or all rare items.

@maareek is specialist for special chests (hmmm, does it make him double special dude?), so he can say more about it.

If it's the other kind of special chest it will drop uniques 1/50 times, so sometimes you will get 2-3 uniques at once. They can also drop set items which ofc should happen more often. I'm not sure if these ones have the limited 66k patterns, though.

Do you think there would be an interest in a big level 85 area running guide? I would primarily just be bringing information together with input from various people, not pretending that im an expert or anything. I would also be very happy to pass it on to somebody who actually is haha

It would cover all sorts;
Areas
Maps
Builds
Odds of items
MFO
Forum records for running
Plus a big list of anything related, like my 5000 ancient tunnel runs and stuff like that.

I'm always keen to learn, so yeah !!!

Hmm, found this helm, so I guess that makes my next (or some future) char's name a no-brainer:

It's a shame that helmets cannot spawn with "of Slaying" suffix.

This helm's name also gave me a chuckle:

Needless to say, my Diablo time hasn't exactly been that exciting lately.

Edit. @Kitteh I'm a sucker for guides and such, so I say go for it! And even though there might not be that much new info floating around, discussions about area running and magic finding tend to be interesting (at least for me), so more chance to get some more of that going the better.
