I'm running NIlly in 1,13 for GC's to reroll there, so I'll take your advice and not reroll charms in 1.07.

I'll also roll a new character to clvl 8 to craft rings since that's the optimal level.

A heap of other questions are floating around, but as I come to need the answers, I first go googling to see if I can find the answers.

Hey guy ive just started out in 1.07. Gonna build an orb sorc, im lvl 10 and on my way to andariel. What are the optimal levels to finish each act? And what should i be shopping or gambling for to outfit my character?

I finished Normal at around lvl 35 iirc.

Currently lvl 40 and the NM Chaos Sanctuary is giving me hell (pun intended), so I'm trying to level a little before trying again and to outfit myself a little better.

I spent most of my gold gambling Circulets, looking for + Cold skills, I just found this, but need more levels to use it

Duriel is being a nasty pain in normal, cant really get any better gear as gold is hard to come by and advice?

Static field. You can static him down to sliver in just a few seconds, and then just let merc kill him or use your spells if you have invested in some. With some juv (and we have an infinite supply of those in 1.07) potting and static field no boss should be hard. Static field works like a charm in later difficulties too. =)

Agreed. You should have more than one point in SF, so it shouldn't even be that dangerous. I'm pretty sure I maxed SF, it's a great skill to use on anything that's not immune.

Thanks guys duriel is dead, im travelling along pretty well, just freezing things and letting the merc do the rest. Am i gonna have mana issues when i get to lvl30 and get FO? whats the strategy for an untwinked sorc? Just drink copious amounts of full rejuvs?

Rejuv Bug helps a lot. I'd try making some mpk rings to avoid spending points on energy and warmth.

I am searching for the 1.07(.09) Ravenclaw... With my merc, I have finally reached the MF point where Hell Act Bosses drop all uniques (gambling in 1.06b helped immensely in this regard)... The problem is of course getting the killing blow on the Act boss without dying.... Which merc would do you gentlemen/ladies suggest? According to the guides, Barbs are good because they regen really fast but two problems: Andy's poison cancels the regen and my merc simply can't stand toe to toe with Hell Meph without dying. Any suggestions on better places to look/better success with other merc types? I was thinking Rogue or a Fire Act III merc would fare better.

My build is an Orb Sorc, lvl 80 atm

20 in Orb
20 in Cold Mastery
20 in Static Field
20 in Teleport
Rest in Warmth
1 in Shiver Armor & pre-reqs

Can you static meph from across the moat without him getting in range? I haven't run meph in ages, let alone played 1.07, but if that is possible, you could get him down to like 1HP then let the merc kill him. You'll have to do a tele once in a while if the merc paces toward meph and becomes aware of him. Don't really remember that range either :p

I think I heard RobbyD say he did that in 1.09 I think he said you needed level 18 or something, but can't remember for sure. You could maybe put a + static orb on switch to get it up high enough so the Merc isn't stupid.

Perfect would be knowing what really triggers the SF bug. When it auto kills the bosses it's... awesome! But I never understood why that just happens sometimes.

@Acrimony – I pretty much use the same Sorceress setup to run Hell Mephisto in 1.07. My Frozen Orb Sorceress uses an Act 5 Merc and a very simple strategy . . . Teleport into Mephisto’s sight. Lead Mephisto to the moat. Chill Mephisto with Frozen Orb and then start using Static Field. Mephisto uses ranged spells on the Merc (which really don’t do much damage except for his Frozen Orb). Once Mephisto has next to no health I feed the Merc a Full Rejuvenation Potion and teleport onto Mephisto. Merc performs coup de grace. I roll my eyes at the dropping of yet another Rattlecage and repeat.

Or in short, my advice would be don’t let the Merc get into a melee fight with Mephisto until it’s no fight at all and don’t hesitate to use Full Rejuvenation Potions because they’re free (well, you know what I mean).

Yes and no. You have to continually tele around because the brilliant Merc AI will try to engage Meph from across the moat, and a few ice balls = dead. Teleing around also tends to attract the unwanted attention of the Council member in the next room, which is also a sure death...

Anywhoo... I finally just did a few runs through Act5, saved up half a mil in gold, and went to town on Hell Andy. Ravenclaw dropped within 20 or so runs. w00t!

Bought this from Larzuk. Using it for my Sorceress' a5 merc. Whenever there's a lightning immune he amplify him and murders him. :o

@HanShotFirst If you want an easy way to kill Mephisto you just teleport ONTO him so that Mephisto hits you and not the merc. Mephisto will only do his melee attack which shouldn't be able to one hit kill you, so you can drink a full rejuvination potion between the attacks. While he attack you you use static field until the merc finish him off!

Found some items i have questions about.

First would be a ammy crafted with the prismatic recipe. It has nice resists and a lvl req of 3 ingame. Looking in ATMA it doesn't have any lvl reqs. What would the lvl req be if it was forwarded?

Second is a jewel i found. It's a diamond jewel (damage/ar vs demons). Ingame it has some AR, but crazy damage vs demons (130%!). Looking in ATMA the AR is the same as ingame, but the damage is totally different. Would it still have the same damage if forwarded?

No clue about forwarding you ammy, but I don't remember req level changing after sending item forward. Charms, mpk rings, crafted LLD rings, they all kept ingame level of item. ATMA is 100% broken regarding showing reqlvl of 1.07 item so trust only what you see with your own eyes ingame.

As for jewels, it's easy. In 1.07 it will show 130% but instead it's 30%. 100% is kinda considered base dmg or something. Don't know how I would explain it better.

30% ED to Demons = 130 ingame
LoH that has 350 ED to Demons = 450 ingame

100% is always considered base damage I guess...?

When you forward it it will go back to 1.13 standards where 30 is 30 and not 130.

That's pretty much the reasoning i followed, but i thought i'd ask first. Maybe i'll forward it as a nice twinking amu.

That's a shame. Looked like finally some use for those jewels with damage/ar to demons and undead. At least i can still use it for crafting. :)

I'm closing the chapter on 1.06b, checking all mules and bringing forward boots and SoJs.

Is there folks who need SoJ in 1.07 and trade?


Jewels in 1.07 generally suck. ED goes up to only 25 and all res sucks at 5.

So I reinstalled diablo 2 (fatal errors suck), and reinstalled all the 1.07 files. When I click the shortcut, it switches the compatability like it's opening the game, then it does all of nothing. Any thoughts?
