Ender's Mafia Game

Some questions for a couple of players.

Gwaihir: Got a role claim for us, or have you already made one that I missed?

Pyro: Was it you I overheard again? If so, how were you talking to someone if there are only 2 Masons (as Sath claimed)?

Zemaj: Why did you make a half-arsed Bomb claim? If you are really a Bomb, why did you not speak up on day 2, and show FoE's claim up? Is it because he is your (former) scum buddy?

Val: No further questions. You are scum. Your little "Look at me! I'm making the sacrificial lock vote!" routine yesterday fooled no-one.

Vote: Valhauros

Frankly, I think Valhauros and zemaj are both scum, and it's simply a question of which one we lynch first. Now to figure out who the other ones are. Coju is one that rang alarm bells on a skimmed re-read.

Okay Goryani doesn't want a lolly.

Howza 'bout some soup? Some nice hot soup will calm your nerves and take that need to kill edge down a notch...hmmm some soup perhaps, and maybe a cheese sammich??

@JasonMayHaveAPoint...y'know I also offered to take the bomb hit so no love/hate for me?? Do you have any other reasons for voting Valhauros??

Have you read the thread? Others have outlined the case against him many times. I see no point repeating it.

@Goryani: if you insist on using your kill shot each day, I'd like to request you use it on the non-contributors. Might nab a lurky scum. Might nab a victory (who knows, the guy you're after may be laying low to avoid notice). At worst, we get rid of some unhelpful townies. Not ideal, but if they don't want to play, better them than those of us who do. The threat might also scare some of them into contributing.

If that's true, then I'd say he's worth getting rid of. If it's not, then he's probably scum, and thus worth getting rid of. I'm leaning very much toward lynching Goryani, even if it does prove a distraction form lynching scum. If he keeps killing townies, he's doing the scums job for them.

And in case Goryani decides to off me in response ot this post, I overheard another chat from what I believe was the Mason group (there must be more than two, or Pyro has the ability to recruit another vanilla townie each night or some such, or he was chatting to the host). The protection that removes a power comes from the fact one of them is a Jailer (Pyro, no doubt). Dunno why I didn't pick up on this yesterday, but there it is. I'm an idiot.

From here on I'm assuming I was listening to Pyro again, and he is the Jailer (correct if I'm wrong (again) my good man).

Last night the discussion was twofold: who should be jailed, and Pyro's guess at the alignment of the remaining players. Pyro said jailing one of the revealed power roles would be a bad idea, because if they guessed the wrong one, the Mafia score a kill and a blocked power role. The other option is trying to jail a scum, which could identify one of them (if the designated killer is chosen), but could also lock up a townie if Pyro guesses wrong. The only interesting bit in the role list is an identification of someone as likely scum for jumping off the FoE lynch train, and for claiming Vanilla Townie early on. I'll have to re-read to put a name here.

Well, that was not helpful at all then. Since my mason partner was dead I assumed that you would not be able to eavsdrop from my posts anymore since technically since there is no other mason there was really no one to discuss with so I was using the quicktopic to lay out my thoughts and form a decision on who I thought likely scum/town and who to jail since I post my jail pick in the thread. If I knew it would prevent you from hearing mafia chatter I wouldn't have posted a thing in there. I am once again disappointed in the mods running of this game (:p to you phar). In terms of the listing of people, if it helps you determine who is who in my post I just copied the alive players list and went down one by one, that should give you what you need to know. I made an additional post after that breaking down likely scum and making my ultimate decision on who to jail. I eventually widdled it down to Gory and Val, with Thyiad and Zemaj not far behind. I figured Drixx would most likely try to investigate either Gory or Val to be sure of one of them being scum. I had already jailed Gory before so I knew he wasn't the hitman, unless it shifted to him after Freds lynch. Jailing either of the people that would be likely to be investigated would stop the investigation as well, so I went to my next set.

Here is my list of activities:
Night 1 - Solar Ice
Night 2 - Goryani
Night 3 - Sath (He wanted to make sure he'd make it to the next day phase to expose fred)
Night 4 - Thyiad

There are no other masons, just me.

How exactly does your jailing affect the player? In games I've played where there's been a Jailer, a person who is jailed can't post at all. In this game does it just prevent them from using their power and/or voting?

Jailing is a night time activity only, it protects them like a doc save, but also prevents them from using their abilities. Pretty much they can't get out, but no one can get in either. Its kind of a double edged sword depending on how you use it.

So say for example I jailed drixx last night, he would still be alive today, but he would have no results.

Gwaihir, you think Goryani just has limited shots then, not what he claimed?

Anyone with unlimited shots is pretty damn game breaking, as town, mafia, or neutral. Betting it is actually limited. And since he almost assuredly lied about his claim, he is likely anti-town (bonus points on anti-town for that name). From that I would bet he only has one - multiple vig shots for an anti-town character is too good.

On a similar note, can we trust Gory to give us real info? If he has another shot, he just shoots someone and says they were mafia and lying about their claim, we would not know the difference.

Lol. Cute. Also, classic flubb right there.

Gwaihir: Got a role claim for us, or have you already made one that I missed?

I thought about claiming last night, but as zemaj recommended it my first instinct was to not do it. Also thinking more about it - if Goryani is anti-town has another shot, he already has a target in Pyro, so a mass claim probably is the right call.

I have also wanted to use the line "Pretty Fly for a white guy" this whole game.

I am Fly Molo, Vanilla Townie.

As for Val, I would bet he is our 3rd scum, but I think zemaj or Gory are better options for today.

I strongly advise you not to waste a lynch on me, since you'll be losing an entire phase to hunt scum. I'm okay with Goryani killing me if it can help the town pin-point the mafia. So, Who are you going to lynch when I flip town?

Gotcha. Obviously what I'm used to is a daytime Jailer.

Pyro's version is what I normally think of when I hear jailer. The role name I associate with someone who prevents people from posting is Dentist actually (though mods can call them whatever they want). Wasn't that in the Christmas game?

Moreover, does no one else find weird that Pyro was writing to himself? Even at my noobish, I always write my stuff on a notepad so I can keep a train of though. Writing stuff in a QT makes no sense whatsoever to me, even after Pyro's explanations.

Granted, Drixx already confirmed him as a townie, but still... pretty odd.

Frankly, yes it does seem odd. I'll leave the pushing for info to the regular (better :p) mafia players, but could a townie have a recruitment of sometype? Pyro writing in a QT to make sure whoever comes along has a 'full picture'?

I'm not sure about the mass claim thing. I can't get my head around it giving mafia something to aim at. However, if quite a few roles have been guessed already then I guess there's nothing to lose as they are bigger targets than me! I am Mazer Rackham; no powers, just a plain vanilla townie. Just once I'd like to be in a mafia game with a role (glossing over where I got lynched as the Doc).

I'd rather not vote this early in the day, so I'll do that tomorrow (assuming I don't day killed during the day) ...

Have you read the thread? ...

That's the second time you've directed that phrase at me. I thought you were the town eaves dropper not the town ****...

Pyro could be writing for posterity??

Wow, is me writting in the Quicktopic really getting that much attention? Maybe I'm a bad mafia player, but I hardly ever keep notes, the only time I write down a list on each player of the game is when it comes down to decision time, and deciding who to jail was one of them. Otherwise I'm pretty good at remembering my reasons for thinking someone is scum, and I'm starting to think my reasoning is pretty solid if two of the people on my scum list are trying to draw attention to me typing out my thoughts.

I wasn't implying you are mafia, but that writing for your own pleasure may indicate the existence of a third mason, which would be great for the town since you have a positive voting block. One way or the other, I think is weird, and so far there is nothing else to talk about besides Goryani's claim, which seems weirder to me, but not much else I can say about it besides "lynch him".
