Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Which OS are you running and where is D2 1.09d installed? If the answer is Vista or win7 and your install is inside the 'Program Files' folder then that is your problem. You can either run everything as an admin or change your permissions for the D2 folder, you want to enable read/write for your user.

If it is not the problem then I am unsure of the reason and will await more info.

Info like...
Does this happen every time?
Are you simply moving items to and from 1.09d characters or are you trying to upgrade the items?

I'm using win7.. How do i change my permission? ATMA is installed in program files (x86). I'm only moving items from characters on amta. Nothing more.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I'm going off what I believe is the correct way to do permissions. Most of the links I found sound very complicated. They are listed below if you want to use those instead. I just searched for 'changing security permissions win7'

You are going to want to do this for both the D2 folder and the ATMA folder. It is the same process.

Right click on the d2 folder in the Program Files (x86) folder.
Select Properties. Now select the Security Tab.
Click Edit and type in the admin password.
Click Add and type in the user name you use to log into windows.
Click OK to close that window. Select the user name you entered.
Now click on the check box for 'Full Control' in the second box under 'Allow'
This will select all the check boxes below it.
Click OK to close the box.

Now you need to move your saves out of the virtual folder, that I listed above, and into the Save folder in the D2 folder if they are saved there.

If you want the links I found here they are.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Oh god. i think I just deleted a ber and many other items. I deleted a project, after moving all the items out of it. I neglected to move all the items out of my MFO finds stash, which I apparently made within the project I deleted. There IS a backup.

How do I restore the backup? :o

Edit:
And a Lo rune.

Also, false alarm. I found a copy from my external hard drive, since I only recently replaced my laptop. At least I'm confident I haven't touched that stash since then.

When i click on edit i can't type in the admin password any where? Really weird.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

When i click on edit i can't type in the admin password any where? Really weird.

If you are already an admin you will not be required to enter a password. If you are sure you are not running as an admin and you cannot go past pressing the Edit button I am pretty clueless without an error message of some sort. Hopefully Oscuro is still around, he is the one who suggested messing with permissions.

I have not played D2 in a long time and simply installed everything out of the Program Files folder into the Desktop. Here is a quote of his post. He suggests doing it to the save folder though. He has not gone into detail as far as I know of his steps to do it.

The easiest/cleanest solution is to just grant your user account "Full Control" access to the save folder.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I checked about my account. I have full access on it.. I reinstalled ATMA V. Put it in another folder.. When i muled some items and quitted the window: "Failed to save backup, continue? came up. I have autosave and auto backup checked.. Very weird.. Anyone else have the same problem with 1.09 and ATMA? I'm using ATMA V Pre 1.13.

What was your method of checking access? Using the "effective permissions" inquiry may show that you have full control since you are a member of the local administrators group (COMPUTERNAME\Administrators), even though that full control only applies when running something "as administrator". You need to additionally grant full control either directly to your user account or to another group which you are a member of.

As a quick check if you have the access set up correctly, go to the folder using explorer and right click... New on an empty spot. If you see the full selection of new files to create, you have elevated control. If you see only "Folder" with the little shield security icon (as shown in the attachment), you only have limited access.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

So I just reinstalled D2 and downloaded GoMule to get a stash from an old friend. But when I load my character in GoMule, I'm shown the newly started lvl 1 character. Why is this?

Im playing with the 1.12a patch, no mods.

Cheers,
snokster

Edit: the character I'm opening is lvl 19, but the one that is shown in GoMule is lvl 1 with just the starting items

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I'm going to list a few possibilities.

1) Is the character 1.10+ LOD? Classic characters and pre 1.10 characters are not supported by GoMule. Use ATMA for any pre 1.10 and any classic characters. ATMA supports post 1.10 LOD characters, but GoMule is recommended for that if you can run it.

2) Which OS do you have? Win7/vista or another? With win7/vista there is a problem you are going to encounter called permissions. The short reason is MS decided to protect the Program Files folder from non admin users and non admin running programs. Your saves might be located in a virtual folder. The path below should take you to your actual saves. Change snokster to the name you log into windows with. Also you may need to enable hidden files/folders to view this folder.
C:\Users\snokster\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II\save

3) When you open the character does GoMule give you any errors in the message tab? Try using ATMA if you have the ability to run windows programs.

Good luck and hopefully it was one of these possibilities that helped.

Edit: I see that the character is 1.12a, but is the character LOD expansion? Which is what the first question is asking.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Thank you Ladvarian! It was the path issue. I found the "real" save file in the hidden folder.

Anyone good at Java troubleshooting or reading error logs? Running Silo's basic Java run counter.
If anyone knows, and can translate an error log, big thankyou.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Guys, how safe is it to run RWM and logging on to Bnet? back when I played SP, I did not play on Bnet at all, but now it is different. Can I get my CD-Key banzooored if I have the RWM in my Diablo directory?

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

If you run Diablo from a clean shortcut, you should be fine (create a new shortcut that doesn't have -direct/-txt/runeword folder.)

Just having the runeword folder in the directory won't do anything, as long as you launch D2 from the clean shortcut. Make sure you don't have the modified .dll in there though, as that can potentially be picked up.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Thanks. The d2gfx.dll WILL get one banned, and there is no question about that. Even if they don't care about the plethora of bots, that modified .dll is an instaban. Fortunately that file is not required thanks to Sandboxie (used to run multiple copies/instances/installations on Bnet for muling, though the program does not affect D2 Specifically). It is legit to use Sandboxie on SPF, right? Can't recall anymore. If it is not, I will un-install)

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Sandboxie? Never heard of it, so I would have to assume no. The only accepted mods (FAM's) are listed in the stickies. If it isn't listed as an FAM, it's banned from the community here, and I've read the FAM's a few times, and haven't heard of Sandboxie. You'll have to PM Thyiad to get her comment on it, but I'd assume it's not allowed.

Also, I don't think it's 'instaban,' nor a definite, as Blizzard haven't worked that way in the past. However, it can be detected, and you are definitely taking a risk if you leave that file in there. They usually wait until a certain point in time, and then ban accounts detected with modified files/hacks loaded. Never have I heard of Blizz 'instabanning' anything.

100%. Thanks, I'll PM Thy about it. In any case, I have a dual-boot system and can just use my windows 7 installation for SP-only play and in case I want to MP sometime. (ATMA, RWM and the modified D2gfx.dll), keeping the Windows XP for Bnet play.

Yeah, BNet activates Warden from time to time so if it is activated and it detects the modifed dll (along with other progs) then it is a ban. I think that is how it works.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Hello, i need some help here, i want to get into some d2 but i refuse to do it without my gomule, it just does everything better than atma IMo and i cant get it to work.

After downloading it, finding it it's random temporary file and moving it to my desktop i get this error when trying to open it ( i got the same error when it was in its other place but witha different path)

Could Not find the main class c:Users/PC ect ect program will shut down.

is there a way to fix this?

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

What do you exactly mean by 'it's random temporary file'? I really have no clue on what you mean.

Okay a few things that come to mind:
Did you copy/extract the entire folder onto the desktop or just the GoMule.jar?
You need all the files and folders as they are setup in the zip. Do you have java installed and up to date?
Is windows recognizing the jar file as a java program or trying to do something else with it?
Are there any other errors once you close this one?

Could you possibly post the full error? In a screen shot would be best, but an exact quote wouldn't hurt if you cannot.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

random temporary file was the tempiorary file that you find by going through appdata and all that stuff

I put all of it onto my desktop
I have java installed but ill have a llok if i need to get a newer version
Windows doesnt try to use java to open anything but i try to upen it with java (java se binary) and it doesnt work,.

Could Not find the main class c:Users/pc/Gomule/gomule/Gomule.jar ect ect program will shut down.

When i click on the gomule .java one a mediaum sized black box appears and goes away bvery quickly, it looks like it has writing in it.

IO can get a screenshot later have to leave right this minute

ty for the help!

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

That is strange. I'm still unsure of what file you moved to your desktop into the GoMule folder. You should not need any other file. Just open the zip and drag and drop the GoMule folder onto the desktop. From there open the GoMule folder and double click on GoMule.jar and it should open. If you have the name of the file GoMule said it required it might help give a clue as to the error.

You seem to know how to open jar files with windows, the file you want to 'open with' is called Java (TM) Platform SE binary, just in case.

I would also try to run GoMule from a command prompt. To do this go to run, this is now the search bar in your start menu in win7/vista, and type cmd and press enter. This will bring up a 'DOS box', command prompt, from there you will want to change directory, using the cd command, to your GoMule folder. To do this you are going to want to type 'cd Desktop\GoMule', without the quotes, and press enter. Then type 'java -jar GoMule.jar' without the quotes and press enter. If you still get an error this should at least give you a chance to read the error.

Hope this makes sense and did not confuse you.
