Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Thanks, Ladvarian. I was getting similar messages to that received when running the .jar file from within the zip file. I had unzipped the file so I was confused.

However, when unzipping, I failed to notice that the "Use folder names" option was unticked in the Zip extract dialogue box on my first two attempts. GoMule needs the files within its folder to be organised in its correct subfolder structure and you will only achieve this by setting the "Use folder names" option when extracting/unzipping. Without using it, the files all unzip into the parent GoMule folder and the programme cannot cope - in much the same way as when you try to run the .jar from within the zip file.
When I noticed the folder names option was unticked, it all fell into place. GoMule is working fine for me now.

Thanks for all your work on this thread btw, it's been a help to all - even those who should know better :action-smiley-061::ashamed:

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

according to the dropcalculator i gomule, I should be able to drop cow king's set outside the secret cow lvl, is this changed in any patch?

edit: Also I am a bit annoyed you cannot choose "all" at monster class.
edit2: using them next to eachother, I do rly prefer atma dropcalc, but I have to admit the stashing of gomule is more convenient.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Silospen had a theory about how ATMA's drop calc actually works, which was funny. Something about just using random tiny numbers or something. LOL
I too will continue to use ATMAs drop calc

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Just a quick question: Seeing that there might be some issues with ATMA I wanted to ask. Recently returned, switched to HC, and therefore am not particularly worried about moving items (going to start over clean in HC). So, should I stick to using ATMA for this or would GoMule be a better application? Complexity isn't an issue, just wondering which is thought to be better at this point for a 1.13d installation.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

gomule is much friendlier to use, I think. Most people (from what I know) use ATMA for the drop calc and for later patches if they time-travel. Gomule is just a much faster, more organised application, and I would definitely recommend it. Right off the bat you can separate your characters from one another, using projects for each one, each project containing stashes of your choice, so it's easy to sort things.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Hi,
Is there some way to see ingame if rwm is installed right without testing it by making a runeword? I allrdy failed 2 insights, which is pretty annoying.
Also I rly donnt know wha tis wrong, I downloaded the for 1.13c mod. (i dont know what 1.13 I have) extracted the zip file and made the shortcut as explained and use that shortcut to open diablo2

edit: the first attempt failed because i didnt use the shortcut to open diablo2 and the 2nd attempt failed because I used a spear instead of a polearm :)
So, that explains. When I finally have my insight im defenitely going to thow it up in the itemfindthread :D

edit2: damn it :(, I dont know what i do wrong

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I read through this topic some to find solutions but cant find any. just to check if I did all right as far as i can see:

up here you can see I made the runeword in a 4OS polearm.

mu shortcut looks like this:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe" -direct - txt
open in:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II\Runewords"

and here is the folder to see I putted the folder in the right place:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II\Runewords\data\global\excel

I unzipped this folder from the 1.13c rwm mod

I made sure to use the right link to open diablo2

edit:
I just made a similar shortcut for game.exe and now it works and i got an insight, sad that i sold my eth elite gemmed poleaxe to the npc xD

I still have no idea why my diablo2 shortcut isnt working

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I do not know exactly why the shortcut did not work. I have not actually installed the RWM in a while, but I have had heard of some users who have used the game.exe with success. I've always been able to use Diablo II.exe and only rare occasion have I heard of someone needing to use game.exe

I'm both saddened and glad for you at the same time. Glad that it is working even if it is with a shortcut to game.exe instead of Diablo II.exe I am also saddened because you should have held onto the Gemmed Poleaxe as it would have been transformed into Inisght when everything was working if it was correct, as in the right item and right order of runes. You only need to use the RWM to signal the game to transform the gemmed item into a RW. It does not matter if the gemmed item was created after installing the RWM or not. Once the gemed item is created and you use the shortcut to open the character equipped with them, the RWM will change the item into the RW and it will stay changed. Or you can use the shortcut all the time and it will create them as you play.

I wish you the best of luck in the future.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Hi,
I'm trying to run GoMule on my laptop (win7 32), but so far every effort is unsuccessful. When I'm trying to run it, java pops the message "unable to launch the application". I've read through the thread looking for ideas and tried some of the suggested ones. So far, I've moved GoMule out of the Programme Files' folder, re-downloaded and re-unziped it, checked winzip's "use folder names" box before unzipping, cleared java cache, updated java, checked the java applet to see if java works (OK), I really don't know what else to do.

So I'm asking if anyone could help me solve this.

I'm posting two screenshots, one of the folder where I unzipped GoMule (to see if it's unziped OK) and the other of the error list:

Could anyone give me a clue what's going wrong? Thanks!

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Sorry, not a Win7 expert, but are you running the jar file as Admin?

What is the folder path you unzipped to? The bit above /GoMule, I mean. Perhaps Win7 doesn't like you running the jar from that folder (in the same way it doesn't like running from /Programme Files). Have you tried unzipping/installing to say, "\My Documents\GoMule" (or the Win7 equivalent)?

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Hi Loz, I've unzipped it three times, in three different locations:
1) programme files, 2) mydocyments and 3) downloads (the location where it is downloaded in the first place). Also tried to launch it from the desctop, same thing. Also now you've mentioned running it as admin, I've noticed that when I right cilck>properties, the jar file doesn't give me the option to run it as an admin. I mean, the "compatibility" tab is not present, like in the exe files. Don't know if it has something to do with it though, no expert as well...

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Well, hopefully one of the more knowledgeable folks will be along very soon. I have had little to do with Win7!

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Well this is one error I have not seen before. I'm no java expert either, but am willing to try to help. Have you tried the desktop?

I've searched for an answer with the words of your error and could not find much conclusive. I do have a few questions for you though. What default program is assigned to jar files? I have the 64bit version of win7 and java7 64bit, but the name of the program should be the same, Java(TM) Platform SE binary. Right click on the jar file and choose "open with" and see if it is listed. Also in the error message box there is a tab with a header Launch File, what does it say underneath that. What does it say in the box that pops up underneath the error box. I can see the corner of it and wonder what that says.

Someone on another forum used this to fix an error from a different application with the same error message. Look at the last message in the thread.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Thanks Ladvarian, I'd already seen this particular thread an already tried it (cleared the java cache etc.), with no result. Strange thing is when I try to use "Java(TM) Platform SE binary", there's absolutely no result, no response, no message, nothing happens. On the other hand, when I try to run it using the "web start launcer", I get the message I've posted above, so from what you say I guess I shouldn't try to open it that way in the first place. I mean I shouldn't bother running it using the "web start launcer".

The tab you've mentioned, is just a list of symbols, questionmarks and scattered words, that's why I didn't post a screenshot.

Perhaps I should try to use an older java version, I don't know...

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

It should work with Java 7 or 6. The problem seems to be that the "Java web start" is the default program for opening jarfiles.

If you are comfortable working with the registry, go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jarfile\shell\open\command and check the data value. It should be something like
Code:
"C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin\javaw.exe" -jar "%1" %*
which is the "Java(TM) Platform SE binary" which Ladvarian mentioned. The key is the -jar bit, which might not be there when using the Open with... function from explorer. Without the -jar parameter, nothing seems to happen.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Hey Oscuro, thanks for the suggestion. Now, I don't know if I should do this, but I've changed the defult programme to open the .jar files to "Java(TM) Platform SE binary". So when I try to open it, there's no response. Also checked the registry entry and it's exactly the same with what you've posted, including the -jar part.

Now, as I've read in older posts, some users suggested to run the "gomule.jar" as administrator. I just cannot find a way to do that, because when I rightcilck>properties the jar file, it doesn't give me that option. It opens a table with 4 tabs (General - security - details - previous versions) while the tabs "compatibility" (where the option to run it as admin is) and "shortcuts" are missing. Well, I don't know if they should be there in the first place or what...

It seems that I'll stick to ATMA...

edit: It seems that I can open gomule from the command prompt, first typing the directory where the gomule.jar is and then "java -jar gomule.jar" but I have to repeat this every time.

found the (short of) solution here: http://ask.metafilter.com/122084/Installing-from-jar-file

I have some problems with ATMA V. I recently installed 1.09d again and some stashes from a usb-stick.. Waited until i got my new asus.. :) Any how. When i try to mule over some items from one character to another, it's emty when i start d2 again. I have to use the backup (*.org) everytime it's goes wrong. So what can be the problem? Never had such problem before with 1.13c or 1.09d.

Which OS are you running and where is D2 1.09d installed? If the answer is Vista or win7 and your install is inside the 'Program Files' folder then that is your problem. You can either run everything as an admin or change your permissions for the D2 folder, you want to enable read/write for your user.

If it is not the problem then I am unsure of the reason and will await more info.

Info like...
Does this happen every time?
Are you simply moving items to and from 1.09d characters or are you trying to upgrade the items?
