Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Any ideas, folks? I'd much rather use GoMule for what it does, but can't use it for what it's actually doing, know what I mean?

I do not know if any of this will help since I no longer play and do not have Java installed.

It is strange that you are able to save your character and not your stash. Where exactly do you have the stashes saved? If you have them in ATMA or Diablo II folder, try moving them inside the GoMule folder or even into your My Documents folder. If you can save your characters you should be able to save the stashes as far as Win7 privileges are concerned.

Lastly, there are three places errors can be displayed that I remember. First is a popup box. Second, at the bottom of the program screen there should be some text. Third in the Message tab while looking at the stashes/characters. You do not get any errors in any of those places? Something like cannot save stash or backup is what we are looking for.

Edit: I would also try this to see if it helps by forcing GoMule to run as an admin. Though it should be already running as an admin.

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1385866/java-run-as-administrator said:
If you really know what you are doing, then start a console in windows as administrator, i.e.: Click Start => Programs => Accessoires (right click on "Command Prompt") and then click on "Run as Administrator"

This will open a Command Prompt (cmd.exe) with admin rights. Change the directory to the location where the JAR file is located which you want to execute. For example if the JAR is in "D:\foo\bar" then you type: D: [ENTER] cd \foo\bar [ENTER]

From there you may run the JAR executable file "executable.jar" by using: java -jar executable.jar (obviously this assumes that your PATH variable contains the path to your JRE/JDK binaries; I will not go into this at this point)

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Hey guys, anyone know where I could download a decent runcounter that saves run status (time, # of runs) etc.?

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

When I click on that link (advanced Silo run counter) it offers me to download GoMule 3.1, is that run counter or latest muling appl.? I have the regular Silo's run counter but it adds +1 to # of runs when I mule stuff off from char.

I can't ever get the run counter to work.

Should be the right one, here is the direct link, just to make sure you are indeed hitting the right link. Just click on the "0.1" I just downloaded it from there and it works fine for me. Make sure you have java installed though (if you have Gomule working this should work)

Thanks for the help.

It would appear that it's a permissions issue. After goofing around further I figured out that if I moved the stash and character files to the GoMule folder on my desktop, everything worked flawlessly. If I had either file in their install folders, then it wouldn't save to whichever one was in their install folder. I really hate that about Win 7. It always thinks I need to be protected from myself.

So, I guess I need to either run GoMule as Admin (which I thought it would already be, but I guess not) or whenever I want to mule stuff I just need to move/copy the stash/character files to the GoMule folder, do my business, then move them back to their proper folders.

God, I love/hate Microsoft.

Glad you figured it out and got it to work. If you want to save yourself from moving the files you can reinstall Diablo2 into another folder. If you are willing installing it to your Desktop or My Documents folder should work.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

The easiest/cleanest solution is to just grant your user account "Full Control" access to the save folder.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I'm running a Windows 7 machine, and having problems trying to play Diablo 2 -- not sure if it's some conflict between Windows 7 and the RWM mod, or if it's a game issue with 1.13d. I'm using the digital client from Blizzard to download the game, since my LoD disk broke inside my last computer's CD/DVD-ROM drive.

Anyway, I can bring up the game, but when I create or load a character, the game goes nuts and basically freezes; when I hit the Windows key, it gives me some error message about line #117, Unrecoverable Internal Error, and the game closes out when I close the error box. Is this something that happens from RWM and Windows 7, or is my installation just bad and needs to be redone, or what? I'm trying to rule out the possibilities that it could be something to do with RWM, and I know it's not a graphics error (since it's giving me the message regardless of using DirectDraw 2D or Direct3D).

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Not sure really. A couple of points I will make that you didn't mention though:

Makes sure you are running D2 as an administrator.
I always recommend installing outside of the program files folder, but that shouldn't be the issue here.
Run D2 in compatibility mode for "windows XP service pack 2" also makes sure all of the boxes in the compatibility tab are unchecked (besides run as admin of course)

Hope that helps!

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I was running as an administrator with Windows Service Pack 3 as the compatibility and nothing but the administrator box clicked. I learned quickly that installing in Program Files isn't a good idea, and so it's in a separate folder. Sadly, though, it didn't work: still the same error message as before.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Oddly enough, I uninstalled the game, reinstalled and updated, and tested: my Sorceress came up just fine without a hitch. Added the RWM mod, still working fine. Maybe I installed it wrong... or maybe it had something to do with the /Diablo 2 folder being locked for some strange reason when I installed the game the first time. I dunno. But it's working now!

Edit: Sorry for the double post -- I'm normally good about that, but my browser's acting funny on me about posting for some reason.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Posting in the right thread this time...
I just started playing D2 again (had to use Svens glide wrapper to make it work in win 7).
My problem is that I can't get ATMA or GoMule to work (using windows 7 32-bit).

The ATMA installer just says: The installation database is not valid.
And GoMule: Could not find the main class.

Help?

P.s. I have the latest version of java, D2 is installed in C:\Games\Diablo II, I have extracted all files correctly (winrar), tried to run them form the desktop and from my Diablo II folder, have tried compability mode/running as admin/etc, no difference.

Edit: For some reason the version of ATMA linked in the first post here worked (bit buggy but..) but not the one I tried (The one on the official page). Oh well, I'm happy :).

If you could copy and paste the error for GoMule here or post a pic of the error it would help tremendously. As for ATMA are you trying to install it after you get it downloaded? Or are you running ATMA.exe? ATMA from the first page in the thread does not need to be installed. Just place the folder inside your C:\Games folder and run it using ATMA.exe

If I remember correctly GoMule does not include partial set or full set bonus when it comes to its displaying of MF or other bonuses. So you must add it up yourself to get the correct number.
