Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I'm converting to single player, and I cannot for the life of me get gomule or ATMA to install and run on my netbook. I'm running windows 7 and I can't get it to do anything. I download gomule, and try to start the jar file and it brings up a bunch of java jibberish...

If I try atma, I can't extract the zip file for some reason.

Can someone with more talent than my limited computer skills help me with either of these programs?

ATMA is in a 7zip format that you will need a zip program that understands it. 7zip itself will work to help you extract it. Once extracted it does not need to be installed just run it from the folder and it will work. If you can get GoMule to work I suggest you use it instead it is a lot easier to use and has more useful features.

GoMule needs java to be installed, try updating your java version. Once done extract the entire zip into a folder and double click on the jar file. The error you get is probably because you are either not extracting the rest of the files into the folder or running the jar file from the zip.

If these do not work for you post the error for GoMule or at least the first few lines.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I got gomule installed. However, I cannot seem to get my stash stuff to actually move into a stash. It says the stash is disconnected.

Also, whenever I try to save my character I get this:
Error

It happens everytime. Is there something I did wrong when I extracted it or something?

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

A few questions to help identify the problem.

Which OS win7/vista or XP?
Where is GoMule extracted to?
Do you get any errors when you start GoMule still?
Where are you putting the stashes?
Did you extract every file into the same folder?
Did you update your java version?

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Java is up to date.
Windows7
Gomule is extracted into my downloads folder, not into my d2 folder.
No errors when I start gomule.
Stashes get saved into the Gomule folder...Should they be somewhere else?
I extracted ALL of the zip file into the same unzipped gomule folder.

Should I have extracted it all to the diablo folder?

not sure if my last post showed up or not. It's not showing on my browser for some odd reason...Here is what it says if you guys can't read it either.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

No everything sounds fine in the folders you told me. Do not put everything into the Diablo 2 folder, the reason is explained somewhat below.

The error for your character's backup not saving is easy now that I know that you are using win7. Win7/vista has a security feature that keeps non admin users from changing anything in the Program Files folder. This includes programs unless you run the program as an Admin. Now you are obviously running Diablo 2 as an admin since your saves are in the Program Files folder and not the Virtual Folders, which is in your user account. I'm not sure if you are logged in as an Admin though I believe you are not.

Are your stashes actually being created? Check inside your download folder and see. I'm a little stumped as to why they are being disconnected unless the Downloads folder belongs to another user such as an admin account and you are running as a limited user.

Normally I'd suggest installing Diablo 2 outside the Program Files folder, but that would not solve your stash problem as far as I can tell. It would solve your character backup problem though.

One note though. Do you know if your computer and version of windows is 32bit or 64bit? If your computer is 64bit you should have two Program Files folder. Diablo 2 should be installed in Program Files (x86). I do not know if it matters, but it might. If your computer is 32bit then disregard this. I ask this because the error message you posted shows Diablo 2 installed in the other Program Files folder.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

So then reallistically I need to just run gomule as administrator? Yeh...I figured out last night that I had not been running d2 as admin...So my necro is still stuck in ACT 3 NORM after I had completed act 5 NORM. Not a major issue, but a waste of time none the less.

You need to use an admin account to run GoMule as an admin, there is no option when you right click. Unless you know of some other way that is.

For your characters did you check your Virtual Folders? I hope that your saves are in there, but they might not have saved.
Enable hidden files/folders and check in your user folder. It should be in a folder like this:
C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II\save

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Ok...so some how I got the stash to not be disconnected. I'm not sure how I did it. However, when I saved the changes I made to the stash, it gave me the same error listed above. The stash is saved in the gomule folder. Should it have been in a different folder?

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Somehow I managed to get my stash to not read as disconnected. However, whenever I try to save the stash it gives me the same error as listed above. Also, I note when the stash is created it is created in the gomule folder. Is this where it should be saving to?

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Edit: Okay I can see all the posts. Darn squid. Thanks Thy.

P.S. DaPuffin check your PM I sent you one while the squid was wreaking havoc on the forum.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Follow Up Question to Runeword Mod -

I have extracted the file to correct location - however I just noticed that I am running 1.13(D) and not 1.13(C). Is RWM not compatible? I attempted to make a CTA and it did not work. I have tried searching for a 1.13(D) version, however I can't find one. Any ideas? Could I have installed it wrong?

Thanks in Advance, I am a long time lurker to these forums. Joined in 2006 and I believe this is my third post.

It is the same for c and d.

Try taking a screenshot and see if it goes to the runewords folder, that is usually a good indication if it is working right.

If it is going there: make sure you used the proper item type and got the runes right.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

So are you asking if you put the folder in the right place and your shortcut looks good? If so then yes it is correct. Everything looks good from what I can tell.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

It is the second link in the post. For some reason it didn't auto-embed.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Its okay I edited my post and it looks fine to me. I did not see it at first. I thought they were the same link and you were not lurking waiting for an answer.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Hmm.

So if that is correct, and I assembled the Spirit (not CTA - as referenced in my original post) I wonder why it isn't working. I will have to try to re-do it I suppose.
