Na, zarni was the target we needed to take out, so it was the right choice to go for him on the last day. Voting KI would still have lost us the game if the cult recruitment had succeed ... I should have placed my vote that last day, to bad I thought we could take our time.

As always, easy to say what should have done now that we've seen the results ...



I couldn't help but wonder if I was being to exploitive about the rules in hoping to wait for confirmations using item trading. So in the end I suspected TC to truly be behind the dropping of the binoculars and that you and KI where in fact townies. My fear got worse because of a certain PM ... or should I say lack of a PM :rolleyes:

Seeing as I "defended" noammr quite a bit, I figured it would be worth a shot to ask you to trust me and my deduction about items and that they should clear zhao. I wanted you to prove both yours and KIs innocence using a lynch before taking zarni out ... just in case ...

Damn, I was way off with my suspicions, fortunately my earlier draft (which I modified because of Asrrin's comments regarding the amount of people per role) was more accurate: I had Feysal, Laarz, Noodle locked as Mafia and hadn't doubt of Ankeli being doctor... I have to praise Gorny, though, his subtle hints and his change of avatar made me doubt until the end that he was scum. In other matters, I still don't understand why Asrrin and Sathoris where so passionate about defending their town status when they were indeed aligned with town... Who were you trying to confuse, if the Mafia always knows who are not with them?

Criticism, complaints and suggestions:

The game was exasperatingly long, I think days should never be longer than 48 hours and after there are only half or 1/3 of the players, they should last only 24. If people can't commit to that time frame, maybe they shouldn't have signed up for playing; it's not like they were kidnapped or anything... Also, some mechanics made no sense: "If there are no more soldiers, then zombie horde stops their attack" What? Then what's the point of a zombie horde in the first place? Some goes for housing and engineers.

This probably is ridiculous, but whatever... Regarding names: I don't know if it's alway like that in mafia games, but I don't see the point in having them, or at least I don't like to be forced to play a particular person (like a woman) or having the modified name of an individual I may dislike (if I had been named like L.Stotch, I would have edit-suicided myself on the first day).

Regarding the initial posts and rules; try to condensate them (a couple were repeated), and using formatting would be nice to the eyes, like having quote boxes, different letter sizes and using the spoiler thingy for the things added along the game, like day results, actions and the ending information and scores, so that the bulk of text won't become annoying.

Finally, I don't want to add fuel to the fire, but I think you should add as a rule that sexist, racist and political or religious comments won't be tolerated, inducing a modkill. I'm a very discriminating person, but I do it according to what people do or say, not what they are, so I have to wonder what would have been Ankeli's comment if he didn't knew the sex of Thyiad, BUT, I think Ankeli being banned was an exaggeration and a misuse of power, he did not insult Thyiad anymore than I flamed Sathoris, and while his apology didn't seem sincere, it seemed to me that his was banned solely by loyalty to Thyiad, her being a moderator. Anyway, despite what happened I hope to see both of them on the next mafia game.

Just to clear up the binoculars situation - I did receive that item and was going to pass it on - but got culted by Zarni and I was informed I had dropped the item! It really caught Bad Ash out as only townies get items and then I wasn't one the next day so I tried to use that to my advantage, poorly I might add but then I'm not very good at this! lol

So TC did indeed remove them ... "once" your status changed to cult ... thus my deduction about items not being possible to trade between neutrals and townies was correct at least. Not sure if I should be happy or annoyed about that. :whistling:

Names are irrelevant to your gameplay. If a game is heavily themed then the names would reflect your role ability but you don't need to play according to the name.

DOH! we were sooooooooooo close to winning then! haha. blast.

ZY Idk why I just feel like I can never trust you, but I was not thinking of a cult because of the no nk's, hence I was getting crazy with the theories (aka crazy scientist) which i STILL think is a plausible story line, just obv wasnt the case.

I will eat however many humble pies you serve me

And I pegged two anti-towns fairly early on :-D too bad nothing came from it. Noodle escaped like a noodle

Omg, is it finally over?!!! LOL!! Wow, I had no idea it would go on for so long. I paid very close attention to the whole game after I got nixed. I kinda find the presence of a cult with NO forewarning to be rather unsettling as a game mechanic, but I also find bus-driving unsettling, so I'll just have to adjust! I also agree that days longer than 48 hours are WAAAY too long! Yeah, there was a lot of conversation, but it seemed like it allowed too much, everyone just meandered until the end of the day anyway.

I guess my first mafia guess ever was gold!! Noodle got saved by ONE MINUTE, but it could have helped turn the tide right off the bat if he had bit it. I guess I kinda got that train rolling off of a gut feeling, so kudos to me I guess? :smug: My other later guesses were completely off though like ZY. I thought for sure he had to be mafia because I question him: DEAD, Leo questions him: DEAD. Of course the mafia would just love to set somebody up like that, so lesson learned. I also made a good NK target because of a slightly ill-advised early soft-claim (Stranded Soldier... err, "Solider" :)). I was a little surprised that after all of us soldiers got killed the zombie pulled back, but it was basically that or just consider town lost.

I feel it dragged on way too long, and things got rather snippy in the middle, but overall I really enjoyed my first jaunt into forum mafia and look forward to playing more in the future.

BTW, nice name-claim Gorny! You're lucky I was dead because I WAS ABBY NORMAL!! :rant: :p

Pretty fun game to read minus all the mod-kills. Apart from Ankeli, all my top scum reads turned out to be correct.

Actually, it didn't matter which of the two you lynched. The recruitment ability would have passed to KI had you lynched Zarniwoop. Either way there would have been a chance of a new recruit the next day. So Zarniwoop would have had to be lynched at least a day earlier.

Indeed. It is a sign of his evil. In one game, we were both mafia, and he still tried to start a lynch train on me. I think Marahumm was the mod, and he had to step in and remind him we were on the same team. That had me laughing for days, which worried many of my friends and colleagues. (You would think they would be used to it.)

I do remember when both of you were mafia, but on different mafia teams. That turned out to be quite funny.

I think you misinterpreted what I wrote... I didn't mean her user name (Leopold Stotch), but her given name in the game (Johnny Deep, which I assume is a reference to the actor, whose fame, along with Burton's and that fugly woman, I'm saturated with, which has taken me to the point of feeling only disdain for any of their work).

Also Thundercat, as Technomancer mentioned, what was all that "solider" thing about? Was it just a repeating typo or was it intentional? No offense meant if the former.

Sincere or not, it was still an apology. It's hard to deliver sincerity over text in a bbs.

Needless to say, I won't be participating in any games where she's present. It's been proved in the past and it still seems to be the case, she's the Superwoman (*gasp* woman *gasp*) and I'm her kryptonite. Unfortunately the power distribution here allows the Superwoman to toss the kryptonite aside directly or indirectly (as happened here). I won't be fighting battles that cannot be won.

Anyway, thanks for the game TC. Too heavy on the mechanics side for my taste, but made a good read nonetheless.

I guess I should quit and not play in games you are in. You have treated me like a POS in games but I still play. You once told me you would step on your grandmother to win a mafia game. Its not like you to pass on a challenge. If you are the player you think you are you should be able to handle it without the sexist comments,you didn't need them:)

Techno, you may not be aware, but mafia players recieve the names and roles of those that they kill (usually), so I was aware of your name and role after your death by our hit man.

Like I said, I knew she'd get pissed off, that's why I said it. To enforce reactions. And yeah, when I play whatever, I play to win in any way possible.

You're propably not the only one I've hurt during the games, and as I hate apologizing for playing a game, I'll just add "Nothing personal", and I really do mean it. It's just a game, but I hate to lose.

Come to think of it, I'd make a good dictator. I'm not much concerned with people's feelings. ;)

edit: and yeah, I would play with her if she wouldn't just end up getting me banned again after getting hurt by something I say.

Ankeli for once accept that YOUR actions got YOU banned. Everytime you screw up in mafia and get killed/the thread closed/banned you blame someone else.

Read these especially rules one (flaming) and nine (accepting decisions).

You have caused problems in at least three Mafia games to my knowledge. On that basis, I'd say you could find the problem by looking in a mirror.

I didn't ask Orphan to ban you; that's not how it works. He say a crap storm in his sub-forum and dealt with it. If you believe he banned you because I asked him to, you do us both a diservice. Take it up with us and/or Elly via PM rather than BSing in public.

Moderators do ask for input on difficult/borderline decisions. This wasn't one. It was clear cut, over the line flaming/trolling.
