Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Antilles has been sent on the WestXylophone.

I see that Jason may be delayed for a bit. No rush as I'm going to be focusing on the A85 MF tournament for a few days so I probably won't be playing this for most of the week.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Finally got going on this last night. Left it running all night, so Solo is about to enter Gloam City aka the Plains of Despair. He'll either come out as a burning husk or with 2 nice newly minted skill points...

Assuming I get past the Gloams (too much to wish that there won't be any), I should be able to finish the act off today or tonight sometime.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Chewbacca received. Gee, it looks like I have plenty of work to do. He´s 6 levels below "par", has no IAS, not-so-good weapon (which can be said for his merc, too), weird skill selection (has been mentioned here earlier) and the only available active staffmod skill is War Cry (no Taunt, which would have been very useful in the upcoming act. I hope I can chippie-repair some helms to get it).

I need help with the status of some of his gear. He´s currently wearing this helm:

Gale Circlet
Horned Helm
'Ral'
Defense: 27
Durability: 135 of 135
(Barbarian Only)
Required Strength: 45
Required Level: 30
Item Version: 1.10+ Expansion
Item Level: 40
Fingerprint: 0xc3b3ac7f
+2 to Energy
Fire Resist +37%
Cold Resist +25%
Poison Resist +28%
+1 to Natural Resistance (Barbarian Only)
+3 to War Cry (Barbarian Only)
+1 to Increased Speed (Barbarian Only)
Repairs 1 durability in 20 seconds
Socketed (1: 1 used)

Is this his socketed item from Normal, or is it his Anya reward? Maybe it´s both of those things? Or maybe it can´t be the Anya reward, seeing as it is a failed unique.

Then there are three rare items in his stash:
Cruel Harness
Demonhide Sash
Defense: 49
Durability: 12 of 12
Required Strength: 20
Required Level: 24
Item Version: 1.10+ Expansion
Item Level: 43
Fingerprint: 0x2ad84173
+2 to Strength
+40% Enhanced Defense
Fire Resist +9%
Cold Resist +17%
Repairs 1 durability in 33 seconds

Storm Brogues
Chain Boots
Defense: 39
Durability: 15 of 16
Required Strength: 30
Required Level: 29
Item Version: 1.10+ Expansion
Item Level: 62
Fingerprint: 0x400b40e1
Fire Resist +31%
Lightning Resist +20%
24% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items
30% Faster Run/Walk
+30 to Defense (Based on Character Level)

Storm Track
Heavy Boots
Defense: 5
Durability: 13 of 14
Required Strength: 18
Required Level: 12
Item Version: 1.10+ Expansion
Item Level: 25
Fingerprint: 0x2ae2028c
Heal Stamina Plus 50%
Fire Resist +8%
Cold Resist +14%
18% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items
10% Faster Run/Walk
Half Freeze Duration

Storm Track could be his Normal imbue, is this correct? Is any of the two other items his NM imbue? Which of them?

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

I think the item level on those "Storm Brogue" boots is too high for them to have been a NM act 1 imbue. But I could be wrong. scrcrw, we need you! :)

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Finished off Big D. He was a doddle, due to the old "can't touch me" trick with the lightning hose, but the Chaos Sanctuary was anything but. Had a few NDEs. Oh, and Gloam City was free of Gloams. ;) I played at p1 to get it done quickly.

Sending on to Ohwhateverthatsequenceoflettersthtaicanneverremeberis.

Chewbacca was wearing Storm Track when I received him in A5 normal. It was the only rare he was wearing at that point so I assumed it was his normal imbue.

Gale Circlet was socketed by Larzuk in Normal.

Looks like I have a working Solo.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

On Chewbacca:
Yeah, Chewbacca isn't really in a good shape. I just couldn't work up the motivation to grind him up to a reasonable level. The few craft packs left in my stash didn't produce anything remotely useable either.
Regarding items: Ohomemgrande already explained Storm Track and Gale Circlet. I'm pretty sure that I put Storm Brogues in the stash because they seemed too nice to throw away. No idea where Cruel Harness comes from, it was already in the stash when I got him. Doesn't the merc also have a (terrible) rare weapon?
Anyway, I hope you can get him to Hell. That should be pretty interesting. :D

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Doesn't the merc also have a (terrible) rare weapon?

Oh yeah, he does! Didn´t think of that. It´s an ethereal rare Bec-De-Corbin with no extra ED - a little fire damage is the only useful ability on it...
I´ll see if I can craft him a nice Lance when I get to the Highlands WP.
I will sell that belt - his personalized Bladebuckle is better at the moment, and I think I can craft something even nicer later.

Actually, I am more positive about Chewie now than I was before:
The first thing I did for Chewbacca was to craft some IAS gloves. My third Blood craft attempt hit paydirt, with 20% IAS. Next up, a weapon for Berserk use. I crafted 8 War Clubs, and the best got a decent +121% ED.

Chewie is now on the Foothills, just past Dac Farren´s gang, and he´s already gained almost two levels. Nice! The Foothills monster roll was kind to him: Hulks and imps. Level 5 (+3 helm staffmod + 1 Barb skills amulet + Battle Command) War Cry has been of great use against the Hulks. It´s also fun to 2-hit-kill the imps wih Berserk. :badteeth:

I´ve already found a Crude Legend Sword and a Feral Axe - both are weapons with potential runeword use. Um and Lem are very high on his wish list.
I´m saving up stat points in case Chewie needs to be extremely strong/dextrous for his weapon. Some of those elites demand a great deal.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Chewbacca has cleared out the three first big areas, Abbadon and Pit of Acheron.

Short gear + damage update (majorly spoilerific):

Kasim´s weapon. It´s the best of only two attempts. His listed damage is 400-1214.

Chewie´s weapon and damage number. It´s the best of 7 tries with Ancient Axes.

Getting to his current level has opened up Ferocious on all shopped -> crafted exceptional weapon types.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Yaddle sent to scrcrw, Binks recieved from cenyth

Light spoiler about Yaddle (mostly items)
Yaddle's gear upon arrival was somewhat...lackluster. Her merc was struggling along with Malice in a plain lochaber axe, though he did have a Peace armor and a very nice blood helm with an open socket...but an eth beck-de-corbin dropped in the Outer Steppes, and the cube gave it 5sox, so Chalan now has a very nice Honor. For some reason, the Rockstopper helm that was her normal socket reward was gathering dust in her stash...I put it on her and socketed very nice jewels in her and her merc's helms. She had a beautiful caster belt...but on a normal base, so only two rows:yuck: I ended up crafting her a new one (with 4 rows), caster boots, blood gloves, hitpower weapon, and safety ring. I attempted a couple caster amulets, but they completely failed to match the rare she's wearing. She also got new runeword armor, weapon, and sheild, so I pretty much completely regeared her...

In the city of the damned, Yaddle got one of the first elite weapon drops I've gotten so far: a grey Walking Stick. Excited by the possibilities, Yaddle snatched it up, to discover that it was plain (no staffmods) and had a single socket...utterly useless, right? Well, not so fast...she threw it into the cube with three standard gems and got a blue walking stick with 2 sox and some nice staffmods...too bad she couldn't use it...at least not until she crafted it into this:
Code:
Blood Branch
Walking Stick
Two-Hand Damage: 100 to 123
Durability: 20 of 20
Required Strength: 25
Required Level: 65
Staff Class - Fast Attack Speed
Item Version: 1.10+ Expansion
Item Level: 48
Fingerprint: 0xc735c71e
+45% Enhanced Damage
Cold Resist +13%
Poison Resist +38%
9% Life stolen per hit
Attacker Takes Damage of 3
+2 to Fire Wall (Sorceress Only)
273% Damage to Undead
+161 to Attack Rating against Undead
5% Chance to cast Level 4 Frost Nova when struck
Yaddle very much enjoyed chasing down Oblivion Knights and beating them to death with her stick!! (though she left the doom knights to Chalan as much as possible... nasty stupid fire immunes...) With the other equipment and charm upgrades I gave her, Yaddle's resists are maxxed on her fighting switch with Blood Branch. Hellforge rune was Pul, but the real treat was that Hephasto dropped a Mal!! By comparison, Diablo was downright stingy, dropping mostly rares and sets, with the few uniques being utter garbage... Yaddle got much better drops from the Chaos Sanctuary itself, especially the Grand Vizier, who dropped 3 vita small charms over the 10 runs!
Bigger Spoiler about Yaddle (skills and such)
Yaddle was lvl65 when I got her, she's now lvl70. Yaddle's power skills are Enchant and Frozen Orb...(no, I didn't forget anything...) Both are pretty strong, Orb is maxxed with 9 in cold mastery, Enchant is now maxxed, with 12 in warmth and 4 in fire mastery. She was using a good Leaf when I got her, but I immediately replaced it with Memory in a 4sox War Staff w/+1 enchant, +1 FM, +2 FO, which really bumped up her FO damage, while maintaining equivalent enchant damage (Organa had considered using it, but ended up using a different staff for its staffmods, so it was passed to Yaddle and was a great fit for her)

Yaddle's 'fighting' switch is Blood Branch, in the previous spoiler, but she has a MUCH better option available for personalization or socketing in Act5: that unique staff that is one of the ultimate twohanded melee weapons dropped in the Chaos Sanctuary!! I even sent her HF rune with her so she already has the runes to up it, too! I thought about using the Pul in Enlightenment, as I had for Organa, but decided Yaddle had very different needs in armor, and made her a Treachery instead...the Fade makes meleeing much safer, the Venom adds another damage source, and the IAS helps apply damage faster...combined with the Fervor jewel in her helm and the IAS on that unique staff, she'll hit 10 frame attack even if its upped...(and she hits that currently with Blood Branch...walking sticks are fast!) She also has a very nice candidate for the personalization reward: unique gloves that are a fav among Sorcs(no, not the ones that Energy Sheild Sorcs want, the other ones...)

Yaddle also has some nice MFing gear...her personization reward from normal was a Gull (she actually used that as a fighting switch until she crafted Blood Branch), and I made her a rhyme round shield to go with it...she also gambled a 35% amulet of Luck during the act. Oh, and a 27% Nagelring...
Sorry, but there is just something wildly amusing and fun about chasing down Oblivion Knights with a little girl and THWACKing them to death with a stick...

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Dooku has killed the big man himself and is now a conqueror. This is such a boring character, but I`m still going to run a bit and see what drops.

One thing is for sure, if there will be only one guardian in this tournament, I`m currently in possesion of him.

Seriously, a fishy with max resists in hell and a healthy pre-buff suit.

BRING IT ON!!!!!!

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Offee is done with Nightmare also. Pretty strong character also. I may do my allowed baal runs and see if i can come up with something better to socket.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Thanks for waiting patiently Jason .. sorry mothma is taking so long ...

with my exams done Mothma has got a run. I will send her after work tomorrow so I can actually upgrade her a bit (well ... her merc more than her! I might try and get her a bit stronger too!)

merc was still using a malice scythe! I upgraded that to a white lance! It actually doubled his kill speed!

I have enough stuff to craft 3 safety lances, but if that doesnt work and I can find a decent base hellforge was kind enough to drop an um, so that is end game for merc worthy

cheers again for the extension. Wont happen again (unless this tournie goes on for 6 months and I failed the exams!)

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

[Highlight]Conqueror Chewbacca[/highlight] is now ready for Hell. :jig:

He´s pretty much a full-time Berserker now, with Black-Rhyme on switch (for act boss fights and for surviving really scary and cramped situations). There are still a few levels of Berserk to fill in, because I focused on getting Howl up to a level where anything will run from it. As it is now, Chewbacca´s clvl + his effective Howl level = 88. That´s the monster level that minions in the Mausoleum have. I do not know if it´s enough to reach the same level or if it needs to be 1 higher (i.e. 89). If it´s the latter, the next player will be adviced to place the DoE point in Howl...

I crafted a Martel that does more damage than the Pain Spawn axe I showed you earlier. But I like the axe better, because it´s not as slow, plus the range is 4 rather than 3 (makes it easier to stand protected by the merc and still hit).

I am passing along a couple of non-magical elite weapons in case you have the runes to make some of the more attainable (but still very nice) 1.10 runewords.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Chewie sounds like he is beefed up a bit, which is nice

I have finally got mothma onto Jason for act 5, will start with Organa today. No more exams to delay me for the rest of the tournie, so should all work out from here on

Mothma was strong enough but I have huge reservations about her build. LF without pierce is pretty lame, and lightning without any alternate damage is worrying. I was left either dumping points in valk (despite getting a higher level valk from peace) or decoy, to beef the valk, that never died anyway

I did manage to bump the merc's damage from 300 max to 800+ max with a average lance craft, that also has another 120% ED demons, so that was ok.

Diablo almost got me a few times with bone prison/lightning hose combos when I decided to run him p8 - those damn prisons took 30-40 seconds (usually 4 hoses) to demolish with lightning - again, another reason I wasnt loving the single element approach.

Also got well surrounded by the infector and pack, but managed to fight my way out twice (decided to go back in through the TP in the middle of the pack for some reason ... the RoF WP seemed too far away!) so I guess that attests the power of mothma

looking forward to organa, although I know next to nothing about her
