Re: So how do you respec?

Be careful with the "Reset stat/skill points" option from Akara. It's below the "Trade" options, and does not ask for confirmation. When you click on it, ping! Your points are reset and the respec option is consumed.

Re: So how do you respec?

I'm having a problem with the respec option text not showing up. When I complete the quest and click on Akara, the options are Talk, Trade, a blank space, then Cancel. If I click on the blank space, it gives me the options OK and Cancel. If I click OK then it resets all my stat and skill points, so at least the function works. I have patch 1.13c, and this character was created in that patch. Does anyone else have this problem?

Re: So how do you respec?

Bump - Anyone know why it's blank? Same thing here. Something to do with the Glide wrapper perhaps?

Re: So how do you respec?

Strange. My D2 install is just LoD, 1.13c and the wrapper. Oh and RWM/RRW.

I've never used RWM/RRW, so I don't know how tedious it would be, but could you try disabling/uninstalling them and then doing your respec, and then re-enabling? I don't know if that is the cause, but it's worth trying.

Re: So how do you respec?

Bingo, RWM/RRM was the problem. If I just run Diablo unmodded (double-click "Diablo II.exe" in the main program folder, you don't need to uninstall anything) I can see the text correctly.

Re: So how do you respec?

Cheers for that.

As long as the respec still works with the mod (i.e. clicking on the blank) then it's all good.

Which would explain it. RRM is a modification to the game that add's colours to the runes, the changes of which go inside the strings table. When Blizzard added in the respec option the necessary text for Akara would have gone into the string tables, but this entry wouldn't be in the string table used by RRM (thus the blank line appearing). With the rune colour changes in patch 1.13 RRM isn't really needed anymore anyway.
