Agreed, and I suspect that this is what it will come down to in the long run. Vex and Ohm can be more or less easily obtained with a few HF rushes, so they can't be worth as much as the other HRs, while Sur and Cham are pretty much useless on their own. I'd suspect that Zod will be worth less than Lo, Ber and Jah, though. Other than Breath of the Dying, there isn't much you can do with a Zod, other than ebugging with ATMA, which not everyone around here does.
Re: Some thoughts on high runes, input appreciated
I think that everything is just going to come down to usefulness. Bers will be the most expensive(except maybe Zod based on how rare it still is) of all the HRs. Darkoooo brought up an interesting point there and I can't say I disagree too much. It's simple and it makes the HRs that are useful worth more. I can't see a Jah going for 2x Vex though. As I said though, I think something like that would be the best way to handle it.
Re: Some thoughts on high runes, input appreciated
I don't think we are at bnet values quite yet.
Bnet valuations come from every high rune being equally available (duping) and so the value of the rune becomes solely what it can be used for ie. usefulness. We still have Zod ~7 times rarer than Ohm and Ber ~2 times rarer than Ohm. Thus rarity still plays a big part in terms of how I would value runes. I would never trade a Zod down for just one of any other rune.
Here is a rough chart of what I might trade different runes for. This is definitely biased by what I would use different runes for, so should not be considered anything like definitive.
Trade | For
Zod | Cham + Jah
Zod | Jah + Jah
I wouldn't trade a Zod down for lower runes except for a large variety of those that I specifically needed in exceptional circumstances.
Cham | Jah
Cham | Ber + Lo?
Cham | Lo + Lo + Lo + Lo (good for going on a grief rerolling spree )
Jah | Ber
Jah | Lo + Lo
Ber | Sur + Sur
Ber | Lo + Lo
Sur | Lo
Sur | Ohm + Vex
...
I hope that gives some idea of how I might value things. Notice that it is not completely symetrical, for example Ber is Lo + Lo and Cham is Ber + Lo but it is also 4x Lo. I believe that there is also opportunity cost during a trade that makes thing unsymmetrical.
Re: Some thoughts on high runes, input appreciated
This is my perspective:
- since I don't trade ... all I can do is find my own high runes. I've been sitting on some high(er) runes for so long ... I, like many others, remember when most of my high runes have dropped.
- so, things haven't really changed much except for the increased chance of attaining particular runewords that I would not have had much of a shot getting in the past.
