Etdlahq Memorial Bar - your shelter from forum crashes

No JayLo's from me. Much too degrading. I still feel bad about calling one of our own FastBritianE after his last out-of-the-blue head shaving. :ziplip:

Interesting post you made about games at work, too. I used to play a couple random flash games (the only one I can remember is Nanaca Crash; addictive, that is), but now all I do is browse the diii.net and speeddemosarchive.com forums. It's enough for me to get my game fix and focus on something other than work. ...It doesn't help me rest my hands from the hours of typing I do daily, but at least my mind gets refreshed.

And I know how you feel, Thy. I've been having plenty of aggression lately, so I've been playing light gun games whenever I get really worked up. Ahhh... the ol' duck and cover Time Crisis series. So good.

Edit 3: It's even more amazing what 5 beers does on an empty stomach! Good times, for sure.

And good to see you, TRM! Re that bit about games at work: I found it interesting that the study acknowledged the ability of video games to distract us from RL concerns. Of course this is obvious, but it's always nice when people acknowledge the obvious (thereby allowing James to continue using D2 to ease his woes, despite the fact that he's not gotten much better in ~8 months of continuous play).

I now have an idea for a sorc that will definitely never make it through Normal to enroll in the GwE: 20 FB, L, CL; 10 FBlt, FM, LM, plus synergies. As per usual, looks mediocre-but-doable on paper, will likely be impossible for someone with my skill level. :D Yippee! I'll never be able to sleep tonight with a new build on my mind, and momma's leaving for a couple of days tomorrow at 7am (still tomorrow for 6 minutes). Guess I better go off to bed, huh.

NightyNight Bar!

*Happy to not be thinking about new builds at the moment*

What's more relaxing than playing games at work to relieve stress?
Beating your boss in a game at work. [/lameness aside]

Just got home from work, and got an interview this week for a new job. Great fun, but we'll see how it goes.

Nanaca Crash
Hahaha, I played that too! I love japanese things. Very weird game, but amusing nonetheless.

I haven't been here in a while. MFO has taken up most of my free time. I've found some cool items, but I'm really starting to burn out. :\ Have a nice day, everyone. :)

My fingers are sore from last night's bowling. I hope it doesn't affect my aikido later.

I hope the bar is well today. Take care all.

@RailGun : Don´t find a Lo and we wont call you "the name", but as soon as you do... muhahahah

@FE : Drunken Bowling it seems, nice! Bar is very well

*hits water*

Thanks for the Fallout 3 link, I'm actually looking at Torchlight at the moment. It's in production but it feels like D3 but ... it has LAN. :jig: Great find by Mungo that.

That and Cities XL, not to mention Champions Online and Aion and my little City of Heroes/Villains give me so much to think about.

Finding a freaking job to pay for them, mainly.

Tea please. I'm starting to get peckish but I don't know what I want to eat.

I suggest you keep looking at Fallout 3 . It's an awesome game and I'm sure not many Diablo-esque games will live up to any D2 fan's expectations.

And hello everyone at the bar. I don't stop in much, but I hope all is well.

Angry with the girlfriend. Shouldn't be at the EMB.

Torchlight seems like a nice find Thy, almost exactly like D3 if it had embraced the original colour palette? LAN play you say? Hello!

Whats up with the GF Eddie?

I'm only 4 levels away from putting a new runeword I made to use. It's completely marvelous, yet utterly useless :D

Decided I better rescue the Bar from the impending doom that is page 2. . .

Getting ready to go off for dim sum with stepdad. It's BYOB, so I'm sure we'll be taking some beer, but I think I'd rather stick with water/tea tonight. . . we'll see.

On the way, though, we'll be stopping at a beer store that I've only heard fables of, so I will at least be purchasing some beer shortly: Good times.

I've had a terrible day. The only highlight was MPing with Pijus and learning to like a wereDruid, despite its limitations.

A sucky sucky sucky day. Tell that to the two bottles of white wine I've imbibed... Lalala...

I don't like dim sum.

I don't like dim sum.

Well that's why you weren't invited!

And sorry you had a crappy day, FE. You'll be happy to know, though that we had Peking Duck in addition to the fabulous dim sum, so . . .

After that meal, every cell and nerve ending in my body is extremely happy. I suddenly feel better than I have in days/weeks/months. Friggen Awesome!

I'll have a Broken Halo, I suppose. I had no intention of drinking tonight, but ended up having a couple with dinner, and now feel the need to have a few more, so ...

Cheers! :guiness:

Dew, barkeep. Prepare for WoT (This is how to do it FE!):
I was on the fence about doing the Tuesday night ride after my long ride on Monday, but I'm glad I decided to go. As I was riding there I vowed not to try and match the others on the hills, to just do my own pace and not blow up like I did last week. The result was that I was passed by a few people, but stayed ahead of most of the group. Due to stop signs and traffic lights, eventually a very small group formed quite a ways ahead of the others, with me and 4 or 5 others, including the guy I have designated the best rider of all of us. We sort of yoyo-ed in and out of contact with each other, especially on the one killer hill at the end of the route, but I paced myself on that one and the two smaller ones that follow and I was able to not only keep up, but save more energy than those who had tried to sprint up it.
We zoomed through the neighborhood streets for the last couple miles, and thanks to a strategic roll of the stop sign on a major thoroughfare I caught the group just as we closed in on the final mile. It is practically all downhill, and is very fun if you are confident in your descending, but I am used to doing it alone or with one or two others, instead of six. Still, I was out to prove something, and even with my top two gears blocked I dropped like a stone all the way down, took the second to last corner with daylight between me and the others, just to find... a red light. So I stopped, and the others caught up. After a sarcastically short time, the light was green, so we departed, and the best dude immediately got far ahead of me. (I can't understand how he does it, he accelerates from a stop faster than I can manage sprinting away from it.)
I feel I should mention that we don't race on these rides, despite my descriptions of fast-paced action. It's mostly just a 15-mile workout, and it is slow enough that if you know when to work hard and when to chill out you can have a good time without hurting yourself too much. But I like to treat it as a race, of sorts, and grade myself based on where and when I finish. Usually I am in the second or third group, sometimes it's just me chasing the first group.
Anyway, I caught up to him going down the hill and said "I refuse to let you beat me this time", in a joking manner. He laughed a bit, touched his brakes, and replied "Go ahead and take it". I grinned, shot ahead of him, and got up speed towards the shop. I hit the flat stretch with my arms out, laughing like an idiot.

Yes, I know it is not a race, and I didn't win anything. I know that had it been a race, he and most of the others would have certainly destroyed me. But that is the first time I have finished with the fastest guys, and the first time I have been the first across any sort of finish line. It's a big victory for me, even if I'm the only one that sees it that way.

So, if you didn't read it, I was the fastest guy at my Tuesday night ride, and I am thrilled about it.

What are you angry about, FE?

That certainly is a WoT. I would write one but I'm still hung over. Just about to play drunken MP with Pijus (he's not drunk BTW). Being drunk before 8AM would *surely* be frowned upon.

I'm angry with my ladyfriend. Maybe I shall WoT my troubles away later in some incomprehensible ranting fashion.

@FastE: Hope things get better with the woman soon. Seeing how you were so down on yourself when you split up, I hate to see you upset now that you're back together. And after just reading your post in the daily, I surely hope Timeless isn't the only Goldie album you've got. Timeless is... well, timeless and epic. His stuff isn't always awesome, but any serious DnB/Jungle head should be pretty well versed in his older releases. As for new recommendations, I'd love to give them. I'll look over my stuff today and see if there's anything in there that I can't live without. Haven't gotten much new stuff lately; my XLR8R subscription hasn't come since April...

@pman: What, no Dew? Great recount of your ride; it always sounds like so much fun!

I just started watching episodes of The F Word, one of Gordon Ramsey's shows, on BBC America. It's not bad; finally a show that stars him where he isn't a tearing people down to build them up.

While watching it yesterday, I saw an advert for new episodes of Top Gear for those of us in the States. Aug. 17th! Yay! Love that show. Set your DVRs! I haven't been recording it since a season finale in April (Vietnam), so for all I know I could have missed a whole season since then...

I wish there was some random website that told you when TV series were beginning again. If I hadn't been watching that Ramsey show, I never would have known. Also, while watching old episodes of the Simpsons and Seinfeld, I saw an ad that Hell's Kitchen was back on again. I had no idea. I watch hours of TV a day, but it's always the same stuff, so I never know when new things are coming on. If I've missed any new Top Chef stuff, I'm gonna pout for like a week...

I did ask for a Dew! But now I shall ask again: Dew, please.

I love Top Gear! It is one of the few shows currently running that I can tolerate, as well as one of the very few I can enjoy consistently. I can't wait, I saw something about them drag racing a McClaren F1 and a Veyron, so that is gonna be awesome!

The only shows I watch have been on for a few years and have always had the same time slot/day, so I rarely have the problem you described. Although I did miss the first few episodes of the new season of Scrubs because I never watch ABC and didn't see the commercials.
Speaking of TV, I am sad that Monk is ending. It hasn't exactly been the best lately, but I still love it. Are you going to watch, nooby? And how has this season of Burn Notice been treating you?

Oops!! Sorry! This one's one me.

<Dews pman>

All I saw was a ten second spot for Top Gear. Something went wrong for Hammond, Clarkson and May started chuckling off to the side, and that was all it took. I was rip-roar laughing and I didn't even see what happened. All it took was for those guys to be loving their job.

It's funny, but other that what the show tells me, I know nothing about cars. Though it was rather practical a little while ago. I saw a car behind me with the LED lights around the headlamps and I knew immediately it was an Audi R8. It made me extra careful not to smash on my brakes 'cuz I didn't want to hurt such a cool car. :coffee:
