First Javazone, need advise...

Hi,

Don't laugh, but i made my first Javazone... and there're a lot of builds, items suggestion. I can't choose which is best suited for my Jav.

Here is what i have.
Helm : Harlequin Shalo Perfect
Armor : nothing good yet
Shield : nothing good yet
Weapon : Titan's Revenge Non Eth Perf
Boots : War traveler
Gloves : nothing good yet
Belt : Thunder God Belt
Amu : crappy +1 skills amu
Rings : Raven Frost and Nagelring
Skillers : torch and no skillers yet (will buy in time)

Skills
+1 in magic and passive skills (no valk & decoy because it's good at start but when it gets harsh, she gets killed to fast... i prefer to spend Valk Skills in something else)

Max Lightening Fury, Charged Strike & Lightening Strike
Still Lvling up other lightening skills

I'm lvl 80 and i got still 2 bonus skills from ACT4Q1 (didn't complete the quest yet)

My questions is as follows.
- Do i continue to spend skills in lightening? What about lightening resists minions?
- Is my actual equipment good? Where to upgrade?
- What Armor, Gloves, Amu & Shield?

MMMMmm :) Lots of questions :scratchchin:

Thanks

first off a valk when maxed or 17 is one of the best and hardest to kill minnions in the game

but java zons kill so fast she isnt realy needed so your ok

spirit shield is a nice cheapish shield to use

Re: First Javazone, need advise...

Im currently using Enigma for armor and it works perfect for me cuz i teleport alot and

using mara for ammy and phoenix for shield. this way i dont have to worry about mana

but has slow cast rate

Re: First Javazone, need advise...

If you're able to find one use Griffin's Eye instead of Shako. The - to enemy lit resist is probably better than the mana boost of Shako since you're going full lightning damage.

Laying of Hands gloves are a nice fit for any zon.

Mara's would be nice if you have one. Otherwise Crescent Moon would give you back some of the mana and leech that you would lose if you switched out the Shako, or some other + resist, leech crafted ammy.

If you have a Thunderstroke put it on switch. The - to enemy lit resist and extra skills are pretty nice. Higher strength req. but not so high as to make it unusable.

spending on synergies doesnt help fury damage much. they will make your CS damage skyrocket. light resist minions can be taken care of several ways. the most expensive and best is probably going to be infinity merc. alternatly you can hybridize with a bow, use a lower resist wand, rely on mercs, use a more physically damaging weapon or one with alternate elemental damage (demon's arch or demon limb charges) along with jab, there's really a lot of options.

equipment looks good. swap your tgods for a razortail though. i prefer coh over enigma or vipermagi for low cost alternative. shield is very flexible, spirit, lidless, rhyme, splendor, sanctuary, and a faceted shield are ones i've tried and been happy with. stormshield is great if you think you need block, but for pvm you generally shouldnt. 2jav/20ias/good mods rares is what i always look for for gloves. many people go with 3jav/20ias though. you may need to get mana per kill somewhere on your gear if you start having mana troubles. usually 3 mana per kill is enough.

What is your budget for this char?

Re: First Javazone, need advise...

Okay ill list the best and the poorer options for you .

Helm : Griffons eye
Armor : Coh
Shield : Faceted shield or stormshield for block
Weapon : Titan's Revenge eth upped
Boots : War traveler or gores
Gloves : 3/20 or 2/20 with mods and mana each kill or leech
Belt : Thunder God Belt or razor tail i prefer razortail but have the other in stash
Amu : 2 ama skills ammy with leech stats or res.
Rings : Dual ravens and SOJ or Dual leech rings with stats or res if you can.

Now ill do your gear and what id advise in mid range.

Armor i would pick either Vipermaji or a 60 ias plain or with other mods jeweled 4 soc armor. Since the extra attack speed makes boss killing so much easier and the speed for fury is decent.

Gloves: Shop hell anya for some 3/20 gloves or pick all rare gloves up off the floor and id since they can get 2/20 with stats or res.

Amulet: Highlords or Cresent moon. Highlords has ias and a skill and cresent moon will help your leech.

Sheild: I would say Spirit for a cheap option or any shield with HIGH resists or high block if your going block. Whinstans gaurd maybe.

Boots: If your mf your fine but if your wanting killing id suggest gore riders since the best backup attack in my opinion is a decent Crushing blow jab attack and thats all i ever needed not to mention you can leech your mana back in 1 swoop and require no changing of weapon slots.

Keep leveling your CS senergies since it pays off in the long run and make sure you have at least 1 into peirce and let it raise with skills.

Re: First Javazone, need advise...

@ everybody : thank you very much for all you responses

@ dkok : mmm... i think enigma is a powerful weapon for baal runs with teleport and for dropping with the high MF...

@ Dacar92 : good idea, i'll see if i can get a Thunderstroke for switch

@ KremBanan : wel i started playing diablo 2 again a few weeks ago. I made a Bowazon (Faith+Fortitude)... i don't really have lots of runes left to buy new stuff... but pit runs are not far far away :D...i'll put everything i can it, to test it well and make the sameone without some mistakes when the new ladders start

@ crawlingdeadman : i've been hesitating to put some skills in inpale or fend... would it be a good spending? to kill lightening resists?

@RealmOftheWolf :
-ARMOR :well the question is what armor to use... or which runeword in armor ;)... COH seems the best armor for not too high price to pay, i think i'll go this way. Euh but what's "Vipermaji"??
- BOOTS : i'll look for some Gore Riders for boss kiling to switch with Wartravelers...
- GLOVES : i love to craft, i think i'll get my chances , but i don't know which lvl the gloves need to be to have a +2skills... i know blood amu start +2 at lvl 90
- SHIELD : my resists are crap, if i can't get COH in time, i'll make a shield with resist... is there by chance a good chield with nice Crushing Blow?

Thank you all

Re: First Javazone, need advise...

i'm sure with the right gear impale/fend are good enough, but i (and most would agree) think that it'd be a huge mistake for you to try using them. jab is good enough if you want to go that route and also a bargan since you'll get it anyway and it's fine with 1 point + skills.

vipermagi is the unique exceptional armor that's nearly exactly the same basic stats as coh, only halved. 1skil/30fcr/25-35 res and misc other good stuff. it is a great budget alternative and lets you customize a bit with a socket.

gores i have to disagree with. there are much much better boots. you really dont need them for bosses either since you have one of the best boss killers in the game with CS. if i were doing budget or didnt care about mf, i'd go with silkweaves. they have good mods for mana including mana per kill and increased amount by %. i personally prefer over nearly any other boot, aldur's. they have good fire res to cover any you lose by using spirit, they have a good chunk of life and most importantly to me is they're in the 40 frw class.

crafting is a tough one to explain for gloves. basically you want to craft at a few specific levels so that you can get the most affixes possible, but still miss out on the mods that dont add anything, but make the rlvl much too high. check out SuperDave's glove crafting guide in the sticky for a complete run down. if you dont care really, anything over lvl 72 or 73 will get you possible 2skills/20ias.

there's no shield i know of that has crushing and like i mentioned in the boots part, i dont think it's worth it. i've never used it though so if Realm says it works then go with him.

Re: First Javazone, need advise...

@Crawlingdeadman . its really not for bosses since CS makes short work of any boss more for every LIGHT immune monster in the game since he has non eth titans his damage is pitifully low in the jab department id expect since i do about 1300 with perf eth titans so crushing blow and ow at high levels would help alot more. War travs gives a small boost to damage since a jabazon has limited modifiers.

@gregleo
well i had no idea on your wealth so i gave the best imo and mid level gear. incase your not so ubur rich. COH is the best armor since it gives so much res and has +skills. Archon or dusk it doesnt matter what armor anyone that believes higher defense on a zon is better really needs a slap since it doesnt matter much to anyone but a barb and pally. I prefer looks of archon on a zon though.

Yes crafted gloves are ideal id try for a 2 java skills with 20 ias 10 Crushing blow and mana leech or stats. Will be the best possible for my particuler tastes. Id do any gloves from chaos sanctuary but im not 100% sure its a long time since i did any crafting.

For the shield its either sanctuary without the coh or coh with spirit or facet shield unless your Max block then its stormshield or sanctuary.

No fend and impale are never used there slower than jab . Stick with jab its decent enough.

Now onto boots if your planning on using a merc get infinity and this frees up for you to use any set of boots you want. I use sandstorm treks for the stats but if i didnt have infinity id personally be using gores so i have a chance of killing lister the tormentor when he is lightning immune. Also these are in the box. Its what i used before i got a infinity on ladder that and goblin toes.

If you want a quick boss switch killing weapon definatly Thunderstrokes and 4 facet shield for some ubur -res lol its also faster since tstrokes has 15 ias on the weapon.

The weapon speed breakpoint doesnt really matter if you have top gear since 1-2 furys will destroy most things when conviction is applied and 1-2 charged strikes can decimate anyone in the area its the only charactor bar a caster that weapon speed isnt important on.

The top gear i listed are what i personally use apart from ammy which i use maras for added res for conviction.

I have one build around lighting and fend and it's great. It's a sturdy character that's quite fun to play.

Probably not stronger then pure lightning with jab, yet perhaps more fun and I personally find it a much nicer solution then just a one point jab.

Re: First Javazone, need advise...

You started a few weeks ago, and you already have Faith&Fortitude?

Anyway, Im gonna list the gear I used on my Java, which worked wonderfully for me:

Shako
Enigma
Razortail
Titans
Pheonix shield
+3Java/20IAS gloves
Ravenfrost
BK
+2ama/res amulet
Wartravelers

merc:
Eth Infinity in Elite Polearm(not CV)
Eth Shaftstop (eFortitude should also be considered)
Eth Vampire Gaze

The Shako and Wartravelers I used for the MF. A Griffon would provide higher damage though, it depends on what you want. A rare +2ama would also do fine.
Enigma I used for the teleport and FRW+MF. I dont tele much, I telerun. By that I mean Enigma comes with 45FRW, which is alot and just run mostly and use tele for walls and most importantly: I use it to repositioning my merc! This is very handy in Chaos Sanctuary, when he is under Iron Maiden. I can tele him back to me and give him a full rev pot.
Razortail, for achiveing 100%pierce.
Pheonix for the Redemtion aura. ANY stats Pheonix is good, even the crappiest you can trade for. This shield solves ALL your mana-problems!
Titans, for a light Java, I always go with non-eth and non-upped. Eth Titans annoys me, because I have to wait for the replenish. With non-eth, its just a quick tp to town and repair them for 1gold.
Ravenfrost ring for the Cannot Be Frozen.

Infinity wielding Merc, for the conviction aura. Which breaks most lightning immune monsters.

Things to think of when making a PvM Softcore Java:
+skills
100% Pierce
a way to deal with light immunes
and a way of dealing with your manaproblems

The redemption auras brilliant but kinda a tad expensive even though i do have it as a switch shield so i can use a better battle shield haha.

no ****, that's exactly why i said what i said. i know what you intended it for and i was explaining why it was a bad choice for bosses because that's how i took what gregleo said.

Re: First Javazone, need advise...

i just dropped a P Combat skiller... i going to be able to afford some stuf... what's top priority? armor i suppose

also, what's the best merc to hire to boost or help light java

Misread im answering between adverts on tv haha. Sorry :D lol

Infinity or CoH . Infinity is way too awesome on a java .

Re: First Javazone, need advise...

Well i was just checking... if i had to chose between both, i suppose i go for infinity

do you how much a lvl 12 conviction works on resists & def?
