Keep Glitch Mephing or Move on?

i've been glitch mephing from level 70-78 i leveled purely on meph from level 70 to 78 that shld give you the number of runs i've been going. so far the only cool stuff i've gottan off her are titans, etheral tgods, 3x sandstorm treks and nothing more.

I've been hearing things that being level 90 will enable meph to drop a whole lot more bunch of rares. so i'm wondering shld i just move on and level to 90 or cont glitch mephing? i have 375 MF with decent killing speed.

Drops dont really have anything to do with your character level. It's all based on the "properties" of the monster. The only thing you can do to change that is by either increasing your chances of getting the drop to be magic/rare/set/unique by getting more MF (your seems high enough in my opinion) or by playing in games with more players (hence getting more items to drop (theoretically?)).
I guess I wanted to say that you could continue doing so and eventually you'll get decent stuff. I personally get bored quite fast and cant stand that much of it :P

ic. so that means, in theory, there would be no difference between me cont to glitch and me being 90,hunting meph?

Well there is - you will get more often better drops when glitching. I mean you will get that quest drop, which almost always consists of high quality items. Let me try explain
By glitching you only improve the quality of the item - same as when you have more MF. The game first decides on what base of an item to drop - lets say a Shako (not the unique, but the white elite helm). You cant change this. Then the game decides what quality to put on the item -normal, superior, magic , rare, set or unique. When you glitch Mephisto, you just have a higher chance of scoring a higher quality item, thats the reason people do it. Same with higher MF chance. Then as far as I know, the game looks in its database for the required item - Shako, lets say unique, and drops it, in this case a Harlequins Crest or w/E the name is. If theres no such item, it will drop a failed set or a failed unique item - these you can see by checking the Durability (failed set - magic with 2x dura, failed unique - rare with 3x dura i believe).

Basically you can get the same items when glitching or when not, its just those %'s are different - obviously a quest drop from Mephisto has a higher chance of those looked after uniques. There is not any item that can only be dropped from him only when glitched.

You can be lvl 1 and as long as you will be able to kill Hell Meph, you can get every item he can drop.

Well, it's mostly about luck anyway. I have got Shaftstop, Ravenfrost and Dracul's Grasp during first 20 Hell Meph runs during this ladder. Game just doesn't distinguish between good and bad items like players do :-)

In fact, I've found Herald of Zakarum, Vipermagi and Gore Riders from NM Chaos Sanctuary in ~30 runs (from bosspacks, Diablo just plain sucks - at least according to my experiences). I would say in Nightmare, running CS is the most profitable and most entertaining MF run while being pretty easy. Well, NM is pretty entertaining difficulty, anyway.

To answer your question - it depends on what you want. If you want to easily level your Sorc, get the title, get the Hellforge drop and Malah quest, just move on.

If you want to have increased chance of drops, stay. You will be able to level as well (and I personally don't see any reason why to level characters when it is not required), Malah quest is not needed, Hellforge drop can be acquired by other characters and if you want to run 85 area, there is a wide selection of areas in Act 1 - Act 3.

You kill Meph without getting credit for the 6th quest "kill Mephisto." Basically you just join a game where you cannot get credit for that quest, and you go and off him. Each time you do this you'll get the quest drop, which is a guarantee that only magic items+ will drop. No bolts, gold etc. The second you get credit for the 6th quest, you'll forever lose the quest drop for that character.

Safest method - create game with your other character which already killed Meph (i.e. is already in Act IV or Act V), do some other runs (Pit, WK S, Pindle) and after the game is temp-permed, join with your glitching Sorc and kill Meph.

You can also just look at the quest log. If it's been done, it will say "you cannot complete this quest in this game"

Actually the safest, and quickest, way to do glitch meph runs is to simply join Baal games. I find it profitable at night to follow bots around and kill meph as they are killing baal. At least they don't ever complain about me "leeching".

Would anybody be able to explain to me how to glitch mephisto or how it works? - Sorry if i should not be asking this in this post... i can gladly delete it or edit it if i shouldnt be

Good stuff I'll have to try this when I get to Nightmare.

I always thought it was the other way around you join a game where they haven't got the quest. Like their still stuck in act 1.

Back to the topic title, IMO I don think you should move on at all, I started this season with a Blizz MFer I have since then fully geared a Hdin and a Smiter with glitched drops from meph and andy alone. I recently made a Meteorb sorc and didnt glitch meph because i grushed and lvled in chaos. Anyway, i started running the whole gambit with a mf meteorb sorc and have got absolutly nothing from any of the bosses. i thought it was just a streak of bad luck but its been going on for too long and getting a single eld rune from andy is just starting to piss me off so im gonig to back double glitch boss running tonight.

About 3 weeks now i think, and i have yet to fill my inv and stash with keapers, i got my old blizz sorc running again last night and mfed for a few hours and i filled my inventory and stash with keepers in 1 night. glitching is the way to go IMO
