OT: Mafia game

Re: OT: Mafia game

Orphan has fooled the town before in the CF games before hasn't he? Not saying that implies he is this time round, just that he's previously demonstrated the cunning to do so.

I've been wary to trust him on his reveal. We haven't had any indication that there are in fact masons in this game at all - no other masons coming forwards or no bodies revealed to the town as masons. Orphan also claimed a role late enough in the game that there was a good chance the masons had already been eliminated.

I'll carry on thinking about this. It's 17.25 here at the moment and Aman has tended to end days at 7.30. I'll try and get back to this at about 90 minutes from now at the very latest.

I guess this is the debate between analysis of the posts with a consideration to what they contain (most reasoning this round) and analysis of the posts only considering the barebones of the information they provide (Voting analysis, #336)

Re: OT: Mafia game

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond, I just woke up (long day at school and work yesterday). SiTro I believe you asked for my thoughts. I agree that it seems suspect that Orphan has been the only one to claim to be a Mason, and did so at a time when no one could back up or deny the claim. I was leery of Flip early on in the game and even up until the last day or so. In m opinion, I buy his story of not wanting to post because the active posters kept getting lynched. I, like Flip, have had a hard time providing much insight because we don't really know the players since we are new to the forum. I have tried to post what I picked up and what I noticed. As far as you are concerned, SiTro, I have not been able to get a read on you at all. I don't have the time to keep going back over everything as I have to go to school. I will try to check back in before the day ends, but right now I am going to go with my gut.

Vote: Orphan

Re: OT: Mafia game

It's currently 2 vote v 1 vote

It's a no lynch

If you have something to do during the night then do it.

Re: OT: Mafia game

Puresummon was killed

and another note left

"And then there were 2"

I've changed the lynching rules for this day.

With 3 alive it takes 2 votes to lynch.

Re: OT: Mafia game

It's up to you SiTro

I'm sticking with:
Vote: Orphan

Re: OT: Mafia game

I'd just like to point out that I voted for Liquid pretty much from the start, so I cannot be in the same mafia group as him, and he's already left a note for his other mafia member which means his mafia group is the only one left (unless we have 2 killers left, which I'd say is impossible at this point). This means it can't be me.

Flip10thMtn has never voted for Liquid though, which means it's possible that he's the other mafia member Liquid was communicating with when Liquid was lynched.

Re: OT: Mafia game

As I pointed out Liquid had me fooled from the begining, by the time he came out as Mafia it was a lock so I didn't see the need to bandwagon on.

When Ray was killed I believe the GG on his forehead was the calling card of the Genova Gang - who is still left.

I expect Liquid was just lying like the rest of the entire game to throw the town off.

I think Orphan is the last of the Genova gang

Re: OT: Mafia game

You actually can't say either way whether Liquid was lying about a particular piece of information or not. It'd actually be beneficial to work in some true details to minimise the risk of being caught in a direct lie by an alert townie.

There was nothing stopping Ray being killed first by the surviving member of one mafia group then that member being killed by a member of the other. In any case it seems like we're down to one mafia member tops, so it doesn't really matter to which gang they proclaim allegiance.

Anyways. Orphan neglected to mention the strongest point in his defense - assuming that Liq's team is the surviving group, if Orphan is mafia then on Day 3 he sealed Liquid_Evil's lynch. Now that's a rational decision in only the most contrived situations.

Let's play townie for a bit. It seems that Orphan being mafia is highly unprobable given the evidence from the voting above. I know my role. And the voting also suggests Flip to be far more anti-town than either of myself or Orphan. So the conclusion is:

Vote: Flip10thMtn

Of course, this choice of victim is pretty arbitrary really, being the last member of Murder, Inc. GG Liq, we pulled through in the end anyway.

Re: OT: Mafia game

The town's king was proud. Bitterroot was safe from the clutches of mafia...for the time being. And with 2 members left, they were able to procreate and start anew...

Re: OT: Mafia game

Congrats town. I hadn't intended on false-claiming for quite a while but had a change of plans with a near death experience the first darn day. I blame Zhao. I should have killed him the first day like my gut had wanted. Ah well, hindsight is 20/20.

SiTro- I liked the savvy style and new persona. Refreshing and pwn.
Flip- Thanks for being such a pro mafia partner. You made some wild choices on who to kill at the end, but I could see where you were wanting to go with it.
Bob- Thanks for believing in me so much. Without you I would have undoubtedly been lynched the 1st day.
Community boys- It was nice playing with you. (I'm not this big of *** in real life to anyone that seriously thought I was offensive or something)

Thanks to aman for a very well hosted game. I liked the new roles, the mystery, and the promptness of each day's beginning. Oh, and I loved the notes.

Kudos everyone.

:embarassed:

Well played Liquid. You realize of course that in future games with you, I will never again be as trusting. Sorry town for backing the wrong guy here. Thankfully you (we) pulled through anyway.

Too bad about DiiLegend getting NK'd as a Mason. You still did great without here CC and Orphan.

Gratz to all the townies! Boo to the Mafias!

See you all next game

Re: OT: Mafia game

So Ray was a mafia member eh, well he had me convinced he was the deputy. Good work there mate :wink3:

Sitro, I'll confess I was a little confused with your last post, as it almost sounded like you were confessing to being the last member of Murder Inc:

I know! I've shot myself in the foot for the next couple rounds, but hopefully you'll forgive me. :wink3:

@ Orphan- I think SiTro was joking to make you guys sweat. I found it quite humorous.

It depends on how you read it I guess. For example, his last sentence of "GG Liq, we pulled through in the end anyway" could be a punt at you about the town pulling through in the end. :wink3:

Ah well, the town won, that's the important thing. Do you guys want to explain the reasoning behind some of your riddles?

Re: OT: Mafia game

1st Riddle- Zhao...Was...Here. (complete with a grammar mistake since I usually never have them) I wanted someone to suggest that maybe Zhao was a mafia that had murdered a witness-type role. Since he always goes after me every game, I had to make sure he died soon.

2nd Note- I just threw some stuff together in rhyme to hint at my own name. (So I could later suggest that mafia groups were trying to set me up because I was somehow still alive)

3rd Note- Probably the most fun. Just some gloating rhyme with my name tacked on the end so you guys wouldn't have to guess anymore that either A) I was a brazen mafia member or B) Someone was trying to set me up. I figured B was more likely and that I could possibly last one more day, but people were starting to question why I wasn't dying. 1st day role claims are crap if they aren't true.

The rest were flip's save the Bugsy one which was Ray's (he was hinting at real life Murder, Inc members)

Re: OT: Mafia game

Hehe, I was actually claiming to be a mafia. There couldn't be a consequence since I knew the game would end when I voted. So I thought I might as well. I wanted some role-claiming fun since there's no reason for a townie to at any other point really. The interpretation of the last sentence as a joke at Liq was unintentional and quite lucky considering how the town won in the end. So now I'm retrospectively making it deliberate.

I'll admit I previewed the post so I could check neither of you had unvoted just before I voted. That could have been disasterous.

Congrats to Liquid_Evil and Ray Patean, you two certainly had me fooled for a large part of the game. I was considering at one point the possibility that you might both be mafia, but I had you both on the same side.

Well done Flip for lasting out until the last three players. In the end it wasn't anything you'd done but Orphan placing the last vote on Liquid_Evil that swayed me to vote for you. Better luck next time! (If you're on my side that is...)

Interesting comments on the persona, Liq. I found that I'd go into the monster posts when I had the time and motivation to. When I couldn't spare as much time I'd go for smart responses. Wondered a few times if that sounded odd at all. I'm also not going to believe you for a few games. I might just vote for you anyway next round on principle. Can't be too safe.

Cheers for the host aman. I got my favourite role again. Also to everyone for filling out the town. Turns out we had just enough innocents to stall the mafia and kick them out.

Cya next round!

Re: OT: Mafia game

@ Flip- I just have to ask. Why'd you kill someone last night? You could have ignored the NK and have kept everyone alive so it wouldn't have been a 50% chance of your death the next day (it would have remained at 33%). The town would have had some more posts to go on, but a wrong lynch with 4 people in the game means an auto-win for the mafia. Kudos on a game well played though. Save for a few voting problems (that they were only able to pick up in very late game) you did pretty well at remaining off the radar. We'll get 'em next time.
