Aleve should help the migraine. Helps me a bit. Best thing is sleeping even more in a dark room with no sound.
The only thing I've found that even remotely helps is Excedrin Migraine. It usually takes between twenty and thirty minutes before it starts helping at all, and then it doesn't do more than reduce the headache to a more tolerable level. I'm beginning to think I'm going to have to find something else to try now, since it seems the Excedrin isn't working as well as it used to.

Aleve tends to help me when I get a migraine, but different people suffer and react differently, even more so when it comes down to Female vs. Male migraines.

I know how you feel though, I've been getting them since 6th grade, but not as many as I used to when I was younger. While Caffeine is in some medicines and it migth help, I would stay away from Coffee/Tea/Pop and sugar too. Try a medicne that will also put you to sleep. I've found that straight sleep helps things. Also Alka Seltzer Headache and Cold might help as it hits your system a bit faster. Gelcaps and Liquigels > Pills here.

I used to get frequent headaches when I was younger, and took two of the 500mg Tylenol for them. It was myabe just over six years ago that the medical department gave me some 800mg Motrin for the headaches, and it didn't help at all so I stayed with the Tylenol. When I got to my current command (2.5yrs ago), one of the people I work with gave me some Excedrin Migraine one day for a really bad headache and it worked great. So I've been using that since then. I've noticed that it's not been working as quickly, or as well as it used to so I might have to find something else.

I usually try not to take any sort of medications if I can help it, so I end up feeling sick and have a throbbing headache for most of the day before I give in and take something for it... Unless it was like this morning and I wake up with a migraine, then I'll take something right away.

Yeah, I've woken up with them too ... and there have been times that I have gone to sleep with them and woke up still throbbing - medicine or no. I wonder though, if the headaches arre frequent, like a few a month or weekly and in the same area of your head ... have you been cat scanned or MRI'd? There might be more going on up there than a migraine. Anuerisms (sp?) also have a pattern like that.

Last night was one such case for me. I hadn't been feeling well yesterday afternoon/evening already and went to bed feeling worse. Woke up with the headache to go with it, so I took some Excedrin. By the time I got to work, the headache was mostly gone but I was left feeling drained of energy and ready to just pass out at the first opportunity.

The headaches tend to be in the same areas, I suppose, but I've never had any cat scans or MRIs done.

I find that Naproxen Sodium tablets work really well. Within 30 minutes, my migrane usually goes away, and I don't feel :drunk: or :starry: . I think it's a generic knock-off from Aleve, but it's far less expensive.

Actually, Aleve is an over the counter version of Naproxen basically. It's an anti-inflammatory, I was taking it before my surgery for my back pain along with other pain medication.
