Widescreen resolution?

Is it possible to set Diablo II's resolution to something other than 800x600 and 640x480?

I have recently come off a rather long break from Diablo II and since last time I played I have invested in a widescreen monitor. It's not really a huge problem playing with a 4:3 resolution, but it would be nice to be able to set it to 16:9.

Also, I know this is probably not the right part of the forum to pose a question like this but I dont really know where else to put it, and since I am a single player...

Sadly no, D2 is fixed at 640x480 or 800x600, actually only LoD brought the latter resolution

Ohh, I have LoD. Sorry about not mentioning that. You wouldnt happen to know how I would go about setting the resolution to something other than 800x600?

D2 I wrote means D2:LoD the one we play

So 640x480 is the only resolution you can play Diablo II (Classic)
800x600 is additional in LoD, therefore you can choose 640 *or* 800 in LoD, nothing else

Support for both "widescreen" and "4:3" mode in Mac OS X 10.2+.

Mac only additions from the 1.10 patchnotes. I'm not sure if that's just black sidebars (like you'd get on a windows widescreen monitor with stretch (maintain aspec ratio) on), or true widescreen though. Some form of modding or exe - tags would probably be necessary to get that on PC, though.

I get black bars under Mac OS X - I think that's the "widescreen" support they mention. Stops my Amazon looking fat, at least - I really hate stretched wide-screen!

I recently picked up a wide screen LCD (PC) and LoD looks sweet in 800x600...my sorc didn't develop an eating disorder either (no stretch that I can tell).

The splash screen when launching the game has black bars on the side, but oh darn :tongue:

You people with widescreen woes could always play in windows mode. Your character wouldn't be fat, and you'd have all sorts of extra screen to see other stuff going on at the same time (i.e. irc?)

I can only second Hp_Sauce: I've been biased towards windows mode for quite a long time (without trying...), even with a widescreen monitor. Well, once I tried windows mode and after one hour or so I wouldn't want to miss it anymore:
The game starts up much faster, you can more easily switch to the diabloii forum, you are able to MSN or ICQ while playing (well, at least you are able to see if someone shows up on MSN or ICQ :wink3: ).

It takes a while until you are not clicking outside the window anymore - but even if you do, that's not a problem at all, because the game instantly pauses. It also took some time to get used to the tinier graphics, but by now I don't notice that anymore.
