OK, after having to play two separate characters through that big chunk of act 5, it does seem a smidgen long compared to other legs of the tournament. So for NM and Hell Difficulty, I'd like to make the following change: instead of beating Diablo and Shenk and stopping at the Frigid Highlands WP, the player should continue on and rescue the barbarians, then stop at the Arreat Plateau WP. The next switch point (at the Ancient's Way) will remain unchanged.

This way, that part of act 5 will still include finding several WPs, but will only include two quests (Anya rescue and Nihlathak). I don't like the idea of making the second switch point earlier, because Nihalathak, Ancients, Baal and Cows seems like a tall order, especially for anyone still alive in hell.

I think the quote you copied is pretty clear, Wolron: For NM and Hell difficulties, the Act 5 switch points are as follows:

1. Arreat Plateau WP, barb rescue must be completed.
2. Ancient's Way WP (Ancients must NOT be killed).

Hope nobody missed that change!

Queenie has killed Mephisto and moved on to Crazybear. Most of the section was played on P8, but those undead Sygian dolls in Mephisto's area make me nervous. I played P4 on level 2 and then switched back to P8 for the Mr. M.

One NDE: I was in Travencal and decided to go down into one of those disused temples. As soon as I entered, I was surrounded with monsters and immediately poisoned. The poison was extremely potent and my health dissolved to almost nothing before I could hit the rejuv potion key. Then, I clicked on the exit. Luckily I got it on the first try and when I exited, my health was again almost gone due to poison. I took another rejuv and threw up a portal. I jumped into it and arrived back at the docks with no health! Whew, that was close. No more of those temples for me!

Spider Maguses, no doubt. Their poison is extreme.

I took another rejuv and threw up a portal. I jumped into it and arrived back at the docks with no health! Whew, that was close. No more of those temples for me!

I have some understanding, though. Of my last 5 HC deaths, those temples have been responsible for 3 of them (2 in Hell, one in Normal (in the very limited All Alone touney)).

I always keep a lookout for Resist Poison shrines (which, from v1.10, gives you poison immunity) when I will play a temple later that session. The temples are usually bad enough without the poison threat.

Queenie received, equipped, and going. Interesting char, strong enough for now, but I wish she knew what she was. She has quite a few wasted points, it might make it harder on her in hell, but for right now she's doing quite well.
She got a Dol from the hellforge, now it's time for big D.:tongue:

Well, she had no trouble at all continuing on p8 the rest of the way, rescuing the barbs and reaching the next wp. She gained 7 levels in the process too!

On to the next one!

I received SolidSorc from jiansonz, played her, and sent her on to hoop76. I've never played a sorc at this level before, so it took me a while to get the hang of her. (For instance, things like teleporting instead of running aren't a habit of mine. I had one interesting moment when I confused hotkeys and teleported into a Mana Burn boss pack instead of casting a spell as I had intended! :shocked Fortunately she was strong enough to take on even Duriel at /p8, and gained several levels along the way. Next!

Ok jgreg, i got the sorc now. Thanks for resending. The only bad thing is that i didnt know this was going to be the same area i just did until i opened her up, i thought i was going to get to use the sorc running meph, but i guess i just get to go to upper kurast.

Yeah, I was disappointed in that too. Because some people dropped out (willingly or otherwise), characters did not die at the same rate their sponsors did. I didn't realize we were down to just eight players left until skunkbelly reposted the table.

SolidSorc would probably have been good for Meph runs. At least you have the option of Lower Kurast runs - I would have had to run Duriel! :laugh:

Well, I got Nunu. Definitely one for the "should've been powerful, but about 10-12 wasted skill points." Ick.

Did some Meph runs with her, and found a couple nice things: Skullder's Ire, a better merc weapon (rare lance), and a grailer: The Hand of Broc. But it was too dangerous to do more than a dozen or so... I had a terrible map, and low FCR, and the dolls were eating me alive. I burned through all my juvvies, then went after Izual and sent Nunu along to her next victim... I mean, player :flip:

My next character will be the one I started! Can't wait to see what y'all did to him :jig:
