where is the pit?

Its in the Tamoe Highland in Act I (which lies between the Outer Cloister and Black Marsh), and has an entrance like the Den of Evil or Underground Passage. Use the Black Marsh or Outer Cloister waypoint, and follow the paths. That'll lead you right to it.
