Diablo 4 Season 8 adds new bosses and big changes

New challenges await on the boss ladder.

Diablo 4 Season 8 bringing new bosses

Diablo 4 Season 8 will be focusing on a few things, and players will be pleased to hear one of those things is the bosses, three new Bosses.

On the list of things that Season 8 will bring includes new mechanics, quality of life changes, and a new Boss materials loop. As far as the Bosses go, we can expect the following additions when the Season 8 launches:

New Bosses

  • Belial is back and the hardest challenge on the Boss Ladder (Available to all players and will be the boss to beat).
  • Urvar from Vessel of Hatred will be a lair boss but on the lower end of the boss ladder (Difficulty similar to Beast in Ice).
  • The Harbinger of Hatred has also been added to the boss ladder. (Difficulty similar to Duriel and Andariel)
Belial's other form.

These bosses will use the same loot pools as other bosses within their respective tier. There will also be Vessel of Hatred specific bonuses such as tributes and Runes. Also, defeating any of the lair bosses has a small percent chance to spawn a Belial ambush. This means you can get double the loot if he does abmush.

When ambushed by Belial during another Boss fight and defeat him, he is the sole source of the Lair Keys you need to access his “supreme form” at the top of the ladder, and that supreme form’s Hoard. Once the hoard is accessed, players can get the reward to mimic the reward of any other Lair boss. He’s also a great source of Ancestral uniques and Infernal Compasses.

One thing to note about Belial, he comes in different forms and will appear in other forms during the Season (see screenshot).

Existing Boss Changes

Existing bosses are being made more difficult, and they are also getting new mechanics.

Summoning Material Changes

Players who don’t defeat bosses may be frustrated to lose their boss materials and so Lair Keys (materials you need to summon a Boss) are not required initially. Now you can enter a Boss Lair and summon for no cost effectively using him as a training dummy if you’re not confident you can take the boss down. If you defeat the boss, you are granted access to the defeated boss’s Hoard to get the loot you went to get in the first place. The Hoard is opened using the materials you would have normally used to summon the boss.

Every member in a party must have the appropriate lair keys to access the loot in the Hoard. The shot below outlines the changes to accessing the bosses at all levels. Note that there is now one material per boss and there’s still bonus loot for party play.

The Future

All these new bosses and changes to the bosses will be permanent after Season 8. This also includes the Eternal Realm.
