We’re a couple of days out from the Diablo 4 Season 3 reveal but I wanted to point this out in case you didn’t catch the podcast this week.
A few days ago Neinball went into speculation mode as to what the theme for Season 3 could be and whether it’s a hark back to Diablo 3 and the one and only Zoltun Kulle.
We know there’s an arcane theme for this Season as has already been indicated by Blizzard in their original post but there could also be a little more hidden in the teaser image which they revealed back at BlizzCon last year.
Diablo 4 Season 3 Theory
As Neinball points out in the podcast this week, if you look closely at the top left of the image you can see what could be perceived as a portal, one not dissimilar to what you would find in the Archives of Zoltun Kulle in Diablo 3. Neinball compared the two as an example in his Twitter post. The runes in the teaser image are also very similar to the runes we see in the portals.
The script, while not one-for-one to that found in D3, is rather similar to the runes found on those portals. pic.twitter.com/JsjsWMeyHC

Neinball also speculated that with the previous season-focused locations of Kyovoshad and the Dry Steppes, it could make sense to drive the story forward into Kehjistan.
If Kulle does pop up as part of the Season 3 theme, would there be a possibility of adding Kanai’s Cube to Diablo 4? If so, that would be a massive addition to the game.
There’s no doubt some sort of Cube is going to be added in the future but it could be something they hold on to for Vessel of Hatred or a larger expansion depending on where they are taking the lore.
There are a lot of possibilities but we’ll have to wait until Tuesday or possibly Thursday during the dev stream to find out what the season is going contain.
What do you think of this theory from Neinball? What are your thoughts on the season with this mention of ‘arcane’ from Blizzard?
