In a new article that’s popped up on French publication Le Monde covering layoffs at Blizzard in Paris, there’s a side mention that Diablo 4 has apparently been shown to employees.
Before you dismiss this, I do know that Blizzard employees in Paris are shown in-production projects from time to time. What this Le Monde article, which is behind a paywall, does mention is a tentative release timeline for Diablo 4 which will apparently not be before 2020. This does, of course, make sense as there are still a few job openings and Producer joined the team not too long ago.
The translated quote reads:
What about the future? The Blizzard Entertainment teams have already had the right to a presentation of the highly anticipated Diablo 4 and know that a new Overwatch is in the pipeline. But none will come out before 2020, at best, and the employees of Versailles do not know if they will here to see their release. “Activision Blizzard will make less profi, but still make a lot of profit,” said a veteran employee.
Whether we can expect anything to appear at BlizzCon remains to be seen, a lot will depend on how far they have got with development and haven’t reworked everything again. Diablo 4 has apparently already been switched from a 3rd person ‘Souls-like’ experience back to the more familiar isometric view.
Thanks Icy.
