Diablo 2 Resurrected server maintenance is now happening. If you were wondering why you can’t connect, well that’s your answer. This downtime will apparently help them fix the “character lock” problem.
At 10:30 AM (PDT) we will begin server maintenance (across all platforms) that will last approximately 2-3 hours. This will only impact half of the servers affected, as we’re restarting the servers to deploy a fix for the character lock issue.
As we approach the deploy time (10:30 AM PDT), we recommend that you log off prior to the servers restarting to avoid losing character progress.
If you encounter bugs, please continue to report them in the Bug Report forum 50. And if you experience technical issues, please report those in the Technical Support forum 19.

While this is an important issue to resolve, I have no idea why they have not done this overnight instead of the daytime when people want to play.
