A digicam shot of a the death screen. A fallen Amazon here, just outside the gates of Act Two. You can see the town on the overlay map to the lower left, including the Waypoint, as a small blue rectangle a few inches above the Attack icon. Act Two is considerably harder than Act One, and the first monsters you see there are likely to be nastier than just about anything you've faced thus far. When you die in Diablo II, you do not have a resurrection option, as you can see here. You can only hit the space bar, and appear back in town, fully healed, but with all of your equipment on your corpse. You have to run back to your body, which shows up as a pink + on the overlay map (the pink + is right over the Amazon's legs here) and recover your equipment, and deal with the monsters that killed you last time. Item recovery is quicker in Diablo II in Diablo, since you can just click on your body and all of your equipment willl automatically be put on, in a blink. Much nicer than having to gather up all the items scattered around the screen. -- Blizzard North Trip, 12/99
