Guild Hall, the first shot ever of one. Here we see a Barbarian in a guild hall, or so the caption on the Official Diablo II Site tells us. Obviously the building is in the style of Act One, but it is thought that you will be able to select the tile set of your guild hall, so perhaps there will be one for each act, or more? The chest with universal storage is clearly shown to the top right. Each member of the guild hall will have their own virtual storage chest, much like the stash works in town in each Act, except that the guild hall stash is far larger, comprising multiple pages of items, much like the selection a vendor has. The horned pillar in the back room is assumed to be the Steeg Stone, where guild members could 'donate' gold in order to buy larger guild halls and probably other decorative or functional items like (pure conjecture) larger stash space or dueling areas. The Steeg Stone probably would have also been the way to access the guild's management interface, such as choosing the chevron and guild colours, and displaying the trophy case. It's also interesting that there are open doors with what looks like an accessible area outside. Can you go out and play on the lawn? Or do you just bump into an invisible wall at the door? It was said long ago that Guild Halls would be around 4 screens in size, and this one looks to be just over 1 screen in size, assuming the room with the pillar-shrine is not that large. However this still looks to be plenty of space for 8 or 10 characters to mill around without too much crowding. One curious thing, note that the Barbarian's mini-belt icons are missing the Speak, Trade, and Party Options buttons. Which means that this is a single-player game. There is no reason for a guild hall to exist in a SP game, so this is just the guild hall being tested by Blizzard North, not how it'll be necessarily in the final game. -- 3dfx enhanced shot, 11/99
