Should there be push to activate skill keys in Diablo 2 Resurrected?

Last week on the Diablo Instagram account there was a quick Q&A and one of the questions covered the topic of skill keys. This question was this…

Will there be an option to bind skills on a key and activate it without right-clicking, like on a controller?

We have heard this feedback a lot and are discussing it. Nothing to announce for now, but we understand the ask.

Since Diablo 2 Resurrected was announced, fans have been keen to find out what exactly will change with the game. So far the development team has stuck to their line that it’s the same game with a few quality of life improvements.

The question is, would allowing a skill to be activated on keypress be a quality of life improvement, or does it change the game?

Having pondered this question for a few days, I think this would fundamentally change the game from a PC gamer’s perspective. While it’s understandable that using a controller may require this mechanic, for keyboard and mouse users this would change the way you play.

So what do you think? Should this be a new feature or should the development team leave this alone? Let us know in our new Judge’s Chamber poll.

Previous Judge’s Chamber Results

In our last poll, we asked whether Blizzard should develop Diablo 2 Resurrected beyond v1.14. Here are the results.

  • Yes, more QOL improvements and balance tweaks (66%)
  • Yes, but only minor tweaks and fixes (20%)
  • No, let mods make any further changes (14%)

It appears that most of you want Blizzard to do the heavy lifting and not mod makers with a load of quality of life improvements and balancing moving forward. Now we have to wait and see what happens beyond that 1.14 release and I’m pretty sure that will depend on how well it sells.
